What started as an encounter between campus police and a 27-year-old transgender student at the University of Central Florida quickly spiraled into one of the most bizarre bodycam confrontations we've covered.
According to police, officers were dealing with Jarrett Vick when tensions began escalating over how Vick was being addressed. The disagreement over being misgendered soon turned into a heated confrontation involving multiple officers—and eventually pepper spray, a Taser, and handcuffs.
But the bodycam footage raises plenty of questions about exactly how things got to that point.
Was this a college student being unnecessarily antagonized by the officers who were supposed to protect her? Or did police find themselves dealing with someone whose behavior had escalated far beyond a disagreement?
In this episode of American Safety Review, we examine the police bodycam footage and the events surrounding the encounter so you can watch what happened and decide for yourself.
Vick was ultimately charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. She pleaded not guilty, and available court records indicate the case was later dismissed in January 2026.
