Episode 336: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 14: Catwalk Apr 10, 2022

Show notes

While a music video for the semifinal challenge of the season is a little predictable, this episode certainly was not. Angie’s two white feet continue to trip her up in the choreography and Bosco, no longer in a corset and panties, instead serves suburban space mom. Camden tiptoes her way to the top, Daya finds herself in a sweet spot, and while you can’t spell “star” without “rats,” that doesn’t save rodent on the runway Willow from landing in the bottom against her best supporting bestie. Alas, RuPaul has one more chocolate bar tucked up her sleeve…

Episode 335: *BONUS* Drag Race España S2 E2 – Supremme Elegant Talent Extravaganza Apr 05, 2022

Show notes

There is life before and after this week’s talent show, easily one of the best episodes in Drag Race history. (Just ask IMDb!) After an 11 queen reading challenge and a welcomed return of the Season 1 queens as a much needed studio audience, we’re treated to a night of singing, dancing, stripping, painting, birthing, keytaring and puppeteering. And a runway right out of Dragula features a whole crop of killer queens this season (and one hell of a tuber). Samantha takes another spin in the bottom against Ariel. but it’s game over for this evil resident on the runway.

Episode 334: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 13: The Ross Mathews Roast Apr 03, 2022

Show notes

RuPaul and Michelle have had their turns in the hot seat, but this season it’s Roast Mathews! The Top 7 take turns taking down Ross with, as per usual, varying degrees of success. Despite Dulce Sloan’s Masterclass, DeJa still puts her Bigfoot in her mouth, Daya is off beat, and Jorgeous just doesn’t have any fun. Meanwhile Angie serves pizza, Camden can’t stay out of Ross’s butt, Willow is saved by the lips, and Bosco, after winning the reading mini-challenge, redeems herself with a reading maxi-challenge and one sharp little number on the runway. A three-way lip sync sends Principal Skye home early, but at least she can hold Jorgeous’s hand as a double elimination also means its time for this season’s lip sync assassin to punch out.

Episode 333: BONUS! Drag Race España Season 2 Episode 1: The New Presentation Mar 29, 2022

Show notes

We’ll be covering Drag Race España Season 2 on Patreon this season! To get access to the rest of Season 2, become a Matreon at www.patreon.com/alrightmary!

After a knockout first season, Drag Race España is back with twelve new queens, as well as the supreme Supremme, two times the Javi and fingers of Drag Race all star Ana Locking. The first week is the classic combo of a photoshoot mini challenge and a themed runway, with a healthy dose of social justice corner, backstory and potential feuds laid out in the workroom. According to PinkNews, fans are already calling for guest Gloria Trevi to be a permanent judge. Meanwhile, the fallen angel on the runway rises to the top and our first out is sent home with a ribbon.

Episode 332: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 12: Moulin Ru: The Rusical Mar 27, 2022

Show notes

Can we just go ahead and declare this the best Rusical ever? Yes we can can can, Mary! This week the top 7 star in a jukebox musical of RuPaul staples transformed into a masterful Moulin Rouge-inspired megamix. Lady Camden makes the most of a hairy situation, Willow Pill soars as a one scene queen, and Leland gives Best Supporting Top energy. DeJa walks dogs, Angie gets a Bea Arthur moment and Daya drunk-syncs. Unfortunately Bosco’s Saltine is a little dry and Jorgeous’s face doesn’t always keep up with her hips, sending the two into a lip sync that threatened to leave a vacancy. But worry not, because the drag gods/story producers have spoken….

Episode 331: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 11 – An Extra Special Episode Mar 19, 2022

Show notes

Honestly Mary’s, this extra special episode was actually pretty extra special, in no small part because of Principal Skye’s workroom viewing party of this lip sync smackdown. Last week’s unfortunate seven duke it out in a race to the bottom, and we finally get to see some strategic gameplay that’s not just about the drama. Daya demands respect, Willow serves just enough and never too much (air guitar, that is), Jorgeous stops by to top a threeway, Angie serves enough stage presence to win two lip syncs (some would even say she did!), Camden earns a big hug and an award-worthy camera angle for the best performance of the night, and it all comes down to a beaten down Bosco against the piñata of the season, jazzy Jasmine, who spends the whole episode losing lip syncs and still leaves with a smile on her face.

Episode 330: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 10 – Snatch Game Mar 12, 2022

Show notes

Snatch Game rarely goes off without a hitch, but this season it barely got off the ground. Queens like Bosco and Willow have been making smart choices all season, but misstepped into muted takes on Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow. Angie’s Tammie was more beige than Brown while Camden made the tragic choice to be William Shakespeare (and not to be Joanna Lumley). Daya’s Ozzy and Jorgeous’s Ilana Glazer, well, weren’t, and Betsy DeVos tanked like Maxine Waters a few seasons ago, so fingers crossed we don’t get a Nancy Pelosi on Season 15. That being said, Michelle’s Investigation on the runway and Ru’s heavy kid gloves this week made for a refreshing take on a tanked challenge, and DeJa Skye finally nabbed a big win for her Lil Jon. Given how off the rails this one went, we had no choice but to instead spend more time celebrating Jujubee’s Cher on Drag Race UK vs the World, and of course break down Bob the Drag Queen’s formula for a good Snatch Game performance.

Episode 329: Drag Race UK Vs The World – Episode 6: Grand Finale Mar 09, 2022

Show notes

One of the goopiest seasons of Drag Race has a bit of a droopy conclusion as our final four lip sync for the crown and a real doozy of a musical collaboration with RuPaul. Baga, Blu, Mo and Juju run out of small talk just in time for the eliminated queens to pop by for one last runway. Untucked stirs up some old fashioned reunion style drama between Pangina and Jimbo, but it’s Lemon who gets the last laugh. In the end, Mo takes Baga out like a domino while Blu flexes and reflexes her lip sync muscles to defeat the Americans and nab it for Northern Ireland.

Episode 328: Drag Race Season 14 Episode 9 – Menzeses Mar 05, 2022

Show notes

The Top 8 are talking dads, dadbods, dating and all things dudes for this week’s faux DragCon panel. It all feels more like the Pink Table Talk from All Stars 6, to be honest. DeJa and Bosco moderate their ways to top spots this week, Daya and little sister Jasmine continue their familial feuding, Willow gives bad handjobs and RuPaul can’t stop cooing. We discuss salty baristas, sex symbols like Lou Grant and Bob Hoskins, our own mixed emotions about DragCon, a surprise pizza queen, and who exactly won this lip sync. (Spoiler alert: it was Lady Camden.)

Episode 327: Drag Race UK Vs The World – Episode 5: Semifinals Mar 02, 2022

Show notes

Before one of these queens can win the chance to record a song with RuPaul, they need to write and record a song with RuPaul! This extended audition of an episode gave us a supersized Social Justice Corner, which got us on some pretty heavy topics this week, from addiction to religion to conversion therapy, so get ready to go deep, Mary. Pangina remains in the competition via a Best Supporting Purse, Juju throws the fucks around in the workroom, Janey’s gotta hum, Mo masks up on the runway, Blu lives and dies by the sword and Baga snags a safe passage to the finale.
