    I'm Not OK Aug 18, 2019
    Show notes

"I know that I'm not the only person that asks why. Why would some Being entitled 'the Almighty,' 'the All Powerful,' 'the Ubiquitous God,' allow this to be the state of our world? Why, in God's plan, is there so much pain and so much anger? I was brought up here, learning that God is love -- that we exist to be wrapped up in this love and that in the end it will save us. But with every day that passes, it becomes more and more difficult to believe that that is true -- the negativity keeps spreading."

Sermon by Phoebe Kellogg at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Readings: Psalm 82 and Luke 12:49-56.

This Is Us Aug 11, 2019

"...And then [Jesus] says, 'Be ready.' He's talking to people and it is written at a time where Christians or people who were Jewish who were following after Christ at this point in time -- because there weren't really Christians but people who were following after Christ at this time -- were feeling a little bit comfortable. And Jesus says, 'In your comfortability don't become a hypocrite.' And I wonder this morning, are we the people like the audience in Luke, who have gotten so comfortable with our earthly trappings and accomplishments that we've begun to advocate from a distance? To turn a blind eye to poverty, to foster violence to the body through white supremacy, and violence to the soul by bad policy...?"

Sermon by Eddie Anderson at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Readings: Psalm 50:1-8, 23-24 and Luke 12:32-40.

    Place Matters Aug 04, 2019
    Show notes

"Key moments for this uprising would need prepared places to emerge. Hear me: Placemaking is an act of God, to facilitate connection between humanity and the divine. These places can be naturally occurring as evidenced by Howard Thurman's young life, or carved out of the natural environment or social order through construction and intention. Curating places beyond the maze of particulars which ensnare the human spirit is an act of resistance which liberates people to experience God."

Sermon by Starsky Wilson at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on Sunday, August 4, 2019. Readings: Psalm 107:1-3, 17-22 and Luke 12:13-21.

"Deep, revolutionary love does not suppress anger. It amplifies the voices of the fearful, the sad and the angry so the truth of those emotions can awaken and transform the hearts of those who are causing the pain and those who stand idly by allowing the pain."

The Desire of God's Heart Jun 23, 2019

"With the guidance of our rector, vestry, staff, and lay leadership, within the ever widening circle of compassion, we stand with those whose dignity is being denied. We locate ourselves with the poor, the powerless, and the voiceless. We are ready to open our doors to protect the demonized until the demonizing stops.
