Why you are Spiritual + Broke, and how to change it, with Jennifer Noel Taylor. Feb 23, 2020
    Show notes

Looking at our spending habits, debt, savings, and creating a life of purpose.

Jennifer Noel Taylor is an energy healing practitioner, self-help motivator, and the CEO of Quantum-Touch, Inc. She has dedicated her life work to helping people discover the healing power of their love.

Jennifer graduated from Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo, CA) with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science and a Minor in Philosophy. After graduation, she started her first job as a Software Engineer at a big company in San Diego. Like so many people, she felt incredibly trapped and depressed at a job that paid the bills but didn't align with her true passion in life. She innately knew that she had a purpose and felt keenly aware that she was not following her true calling in life.

To cope with the social isolation and depression she felt at work, she studied bodywork and alternative healing. She attended the International Professional School of Bodywork, Esalen Institute in Big Sur, and the Maui Academy of Healing Arts. While working on people, she started to feel the "energy fields" emanating from people. She became fascinated by energy healing and studied various energy healing modalities, including Reiki.

She met Richard Gordon, the founder of Quantum-Touch as his lecture on Maui. She fell in love with the vision of Quantum-Touch and received a very clear message from the Universe that energy healing was her true calling. Shortly after training in Quantum-Touch, she quit her job, took a leap of faith, and finally followed her Heart. She took over as CEO of Quantum-Touch in June 2002.

As CEO of Quantum-Touch, she continues to promote optimal wellness by helping people connect more deeply to their love. Not only is Love the basis of all healing but it also is the guiding force behind the business itself. Her business practices include spiritually rewarding jobs, loving service to the world, environmental responsibility, and financial abundance. Quantum-Touch has grown from a regional U.S company to a Multinational corporation.

In Spiritual and Broke, Jennifer discusses, what she believes is one of the biggest blocks to manifesting what you want. Jennifer refers to this block as a "black spot" – traits that we harshly judge, vehemently dislike, or don't want to face.

Many people over the years have told her that because of a certain black spot, they don't feel like they deserve to have what they want. Sadly, these pesky black spots are very good at reinforcing feelings of unworthiness.

Unlocking Pleasure via the Mind Body Connection with Dr. Rachel Allyn. Feb 09, 2020
    Show notes

Talking sex, sexual repression, ways to invite in more pleasure to your life.

About Dr. Rachel Allyn: PhD, licensed holistic psychologist, pleasure expert and yoga teacher.

I divide my time between working face-to-face with clients and engaging in public speaking and seminars to educate people on a larger scale about mind-body health and intimacy/relationship skills -- two of the most essential aspects of being human. And yet most of us never received any education on these topics. My business is based on decades of research and direct service with clients and students, helping them emerge from what keeps their mind, body and spirit from shining bright and feeling resilient. Based on the belief that talk therapy alone is not enough because it leaves out the profound resource of the body, I blend Eastern practices (including Buddhist Psychology, mindfulness, and Ayurvedic medicine) with neuroscience and body-centered therapies to help individuals and couples thrive.

Sessions involve my method of Bodyfulness (the topic of my 2019 Tedx talk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Ez76686ZI&t=5s), a mind-body therapy style for clients to "get out of the head" and learn from their body, breath, and subtle energy. This style promotes health, vitality and the release of stuck body memory. I also lead yoga retreats internationally (Tulum, Nicaragua, Belize, Baja) and am writing a book with Shambhala Publications.

After getting a PhD from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in San Francisco in 2005, I spent years in the rocky mountain West focusing on psychotherapy, diagnostic testing, teaching as a professor, and becoming certified as a yoga instructor at the 500-hour level. Like many people I was drawn to yoga as a way to stretch tight muscles but continued because of the introspection and serenity it provided my busy mind.

My specialty areas include relationship & intimacy issues (including sex therapy), anxiety, depression, stress management, sleep difficulties, and trauma & loss. I blend Western and Eastern philosophy and integrate the mind and body, tailored to your specific needs. I have created a unique style of psychotherapy in which I blend-in something I call bodyfulness (like mindfulness, but more deliberately incorporating the body's movements in dynamic ways). This is based on research that the body stores emotions and other experiences, which get stuck within unless we have a safe way to discharge them from the body. I help facilitate connection and release of these stuck emotions and behavioral patterns through yoga, breathing, meditation, chakras, the aerial silk and outdoor therapy - all methods that help develop "interoception" (nuanced body intelligence), to help you feel more vitality and joy in your body and your life.

What does it mean to be a Pleasure Expert? It means I'm here to help you feel more presence, play and pleasure in all aspects of your life. This is actually your birthright, yet many people have conflicted feelings around giving and receiving pleasure in their life. They feel guilty or fear they will become too attached to pleasure if they allow it in their lives. If they do seek pleasure they might not know how to have the necessary boundaries to create balance between work and play. I find many people simply don't know what they want. Perhaps they were never asked or never taught that pleasure is part of life balance and something they deserve. My role is to help you connect to your heart's longing and deepest desires.Through the facilitation of mind-body practices, I guide you on your path toward inner ease and vitality. This can manifest in many ways, whether it be helping you find more meaning and gratification from your work, feeling more sensual in your relationship with food, or reigniting the erotic spark with your partner.

Check out my specialized online course in pleasure here!

For years I had a monthly wellness/relationship column in The Southwest Journal and The Journal called Ask. Dr. Rachel but have recently put that on hold to work on a book with Shambhala Publications, based on the topic of my recentTEDxtalk. I greet my clients at the human level, free of judgment, with the goal of helping you connect to your wisdom, inner fire and magnetism. My ultimate message is for you to find your own path and purpose in this often challenging world. When not spreading this message, I divide my time between the trails, travels & the yoga mat (plus a little karaoke on occasion)!

Bringing Trauma Informed Practices to Government Institutions with Trista McClelland Oct 06, 2019
    Show notes

How one woman is bringing evidenced-based holistic practices to her work at a Juvenile Detention facility and changing lives. And, how you can, too.

Trista McClelland, MA LPC NCC CAADC. Master of Arts, Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

I was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and raised in Marquette, MI. I grew up with the passion of dance and creativity. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Community Counseling. During graduate school I had what some may call my first spiritual awakening. This led me on a path of making significant life changes. During those changes I was connected with exploring religion which turned to spirituality, friendships that would guide me to doors that changed my life, the concept and importance of community and the beginning understandings of how we are truly all connected as a whole. I was given the opportunity to go to Greece for one month through the International Group Study Exchange Program through one of the Rotary Clubs in Kalamazoo, MI. This led me to further my travels across the United States, Costa Rica, and Bolivia. During my travels I was introduced to a yoga class in the Twin Cities of Minnesota that sparked that former passion of dance within me. I started practicing yoga on my own and then developed the courage to attend classes within the community. During these times of traveling I relocated back to Marquette, MI. It was during this time that I was given another opportunity through the Marquette Breakfast Rotary Club (which I was involved in) to go to Bolivia and participate in volunteer work with Etta Projects. One of the other volunteers on this trip, was an amazing woman who was a psychologist in California who kindly planted the seed of collaborating yoga with counseling within me. I found myself a year later leaving my job in Marquette, MI and with the support of my family, friends, and community leaving for Costa Rica for almost 5 months. The first month I obtained my 200 hr training through Soma Yoga Institute. Fast forward a year and a half later after coming back to the states and relocating to Ypsilanti, MI, I was given another opportunity to do the Trauma Yoga Teacher Training with Eleanor Bramwell and Adi Shakti in the deep healing jungle of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

I have worked in the field of addiction as a therapist for almost 10 years with the focus of working with adults in residential treatment and is now working with adolescents who are in juvenile drug court for residential treatment. I am a person who loves connecting to others, listening to others, and talking about the deep rich conversations of spirituality and health. I have been described as sensitive, creative, intense, and passionate. I aspire to travel the world and continue my studies in trauma, yoga, and counseling.

I am currently living in Ypsilanti, MI and work in Ann Arbor, MIr for a nonprofit organization called Growth Works.

You can find me on Instagram: words_of_freedom777 or email Trista.j.mcclelland@gmail.com
