Denny Hamlin Was Rooting for a Wreck That Never Came Oct 19, 2026
    Show notes

Denny Hamlin, Jared, and Travis break down a frustrating day at Phoenix with just three races left in the Chase. From Tyler Reddick’s win and Toyota clinching the manufacturer’s championship to a flat tire that derailed Denny’s race, the guys cover everything that went down.

Denny explains what caused his right-rear tire failure, why cutting the apron puts so much stress on the sidewall, and how a speeding penalty cost him a chance at the lucky dog. Despite the setbacks, he gained 18 points on Kyle Larson and still controls his own championship destiny. The crew also discusses Larson’s struggles, Riley Herbst’s run-in with Michael McDowell, Zane Smith’s hit on Carson Hocevar, and Corey Heim’s latest top-five finish.

Plus, the guys recap the Truck and O’Reilly Series championship battles, look ahead to Talladega, and debate whether Denny needs a game plan for the final stretch of the Chase.

Las Vegas: "We Took Our Eye Off The Ball" Oct 07, 2026
    Show notes

Denny Hamlin and Jared are back in the studio after a disappointing Sunday. Before getting in to his own race, Denny reacts to the amazing finish in the O’Reilly race that saw Corey Day holding off Carson Kvapil.

Denny then discussed the decision to pit from the lead and what caused him to spin out right before the end of stage 1. Plus, what did he know about where Kyle Larson was on the track and how that information would have impacted his driving. And just how much damage did the car suffer from Denny spinning out and what exactly happened with the car cutting off.

Kyle Larson didn’t have a race-winning car to start the race but at the end almost pulled off.

Austin Cindric is on an amazing run lately, and Jared thinks it’s his hair that’s bringing him good luck.

Just how much power steering did Christopher Bell have?

The next race is in Charlotte but no ROVAL this year and who knows what to expect.

Denny reacts to the shocking news from last week that Brad Keselowski is leaving RFK. Plus, Sheldon Creed is on the move and what that means for the O’Reilly Series. But the biggest shocker for Denny last week was the news that Kasey Khane could be returning to the Truck Series.

Don't Hand Kyle Larson the Championship Yet Sep 28, 2026
    Show notes

Kyle Larson had about as perfect a day as you can have at Kansas, and suddenly everyone wants to hand him the championship. Denny Hamlin isn't ready to do that.

With six races left and Denny sitting 26 points back, he explains why he's not panicking. Nobody keeps putting up a 2-point average finish forever, and one bad pit stop, restart or wreck can change the whole picture. Denny, Travis and Jared get into it over who's actually still alive in the Chase, where the cutoff really is, and whether Vegas, Charlotte, Phoenix, Talladega, Martinsville and Homestead give Denny enough time to make a run.

Denny also breaks down how Larson won Kansas, including the last-second dive to pit road that kept Chase Briscoe from getting ahead of him, the restart lane Denny would choose, and why the 11 had more of a balance problem than a speed problem

Plus, Denny has some strong words for the team that jumped Corey Heim at Martinsville and says they shouldn't be allowed in pit lane for at least a year.

Also on this episode: why Ryan Blaney started 25th, Joey Logano's Chase run taking a hit from a tire cord, Austin Cindric finally winning Denny over, the Carson Hocevar restart wreck, Kaden Honeycutt's rain-delayed Truck Series win, the time NASCAR let drivers qualify whenever they wanted, and a text about a Vegas slot machine that just keeps paying out.

Ryan Blaney Joined Denny Hamlin to Answer The Question Everyone Wants to Know Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

Ryan Blaney doesn't really fight. He'll lose his mind on the radio, climb out of the car, and be completely calm two seconds later. So, when he handed his phone to a crew member, said "hold this," and walked across pit road toward Carson Hocevar after Bristol, everyone was caught off guard. Blaney included.

On this episode of Actions Detrimental, Denny Hamlin and Jared sit down with Blaney just days after the incident to get the real story straight from him. Blaney explains that he wasn't looking for a fight. He wanted a stern conversation. Then everything went sideways in about five seconds.

He breaks down getting hit twice in the same spot on his cheek, going to the ground, and somehow ending up right back in the middle of it. Denny and Blaney also get into the crew members who jumped in to break it up, including the horse-collar that sent Blaney down, and whether NASCAR's rule for breaking up fights needs to change.

Plus, Blaney talks about the on-track battle that started it all, where he stands in the playoffs after three rough races, and why Team Penske always seems to find another gear when the weather gets cold.

If you want to hear Blaney tell his side of the Bristol fight, this is the episode.

Denny Hamlin: "You Have to Let Drivers Self-Police" Sep 14, 2026
    Show notes

It was a tough week at the track for Denny, but you'd never guess it from where he sits in the standings.

Gateway put a lot on him, and the conditions certainly didn't make it any easier. He talks about just how much the heat and humidity took out of him during the race, including some of the physical struggles he dealt with behind the wheel.

Then there's the wreck everyone's been talking about: Sawalich vs. Day. Denny's got a pretty clear stance. He thinks NASCAR should stay out of it and let the drivers sort it out themselves. He walks through why, and doesn't hold back when it comes to who he thinks was actually in the wrong.

The guys also dig into everything else from Sunday, including why there were so many cautions, what's behind the brake issues several teams dealt with, and Denny reviewing his contact with Larson on a restart. He walks through what he saw in the moment, then realizes his read on it might have changed after watching it back.

And even after two tougher weeks on the track, Denny's still leading the Chase standings. He talks through why he's not worried about it, what he wants to fix before Bristol, and why he thinks winning races is going to matter more than anything else from here on out.

Denny Won't Give One Driver What He Wants Sep 07, 2026
    Show notes

It only took thirty minutes for Denny Hamlin's best car of the day to turn into an 18th-place finish.

Denny breaks down the corner that changed everything, owns where he went wrong, and explains exactly what he would do differently if he could run it back.

Then there’s Carson Hocevar. Denny isn’t giving him the clip he wants, but he has plenty to say about Spire Motorsports, including a blunt assessment of what he thinks is missing inside the organization.

Plus, Denny breaks down Sheldon Creed’s Darlington win and Corey Day wrecking the same driver three times in one race. He also dives into Kyle Larson’s gutsy strategy call that nearly won the NASCAR Cup Series race and John Hunter Nemechek leaving Legacy Motor Club.

And, of course, there’s a surprisingly heated recap of Denny’s latest rec league basketball loss.

The NASCAR Playoffs are underway, and Denny has plenty to say on this week’s Actions Detrimental.

Denny Hamlin's Reality Check for Anyone Who Thinks He's Got This Aug 31, 2026
    Show notes

The Daytona regular-season finale left Denny Hamlin with a scoring dispute, a broken camera, and a front-row seat to one of the most brutal single-lap swings of the season.

On this episode of Actions Detrimental, Denny breaks down the timing discrepancy he believes affected the official scoring. He pulls up his own in-car footage showing a green light on track when NASCAR’s timestamp says the caution had already come out, and explains why he believes there’s a sync issue between the trackside lights, NASCAR’s data, and what shows up on the TV broadcast.

He also talks about racing most of Daytona without a usable rear camera. Denny estimates it cost him roughly 30% of what he needs to race competitively at a superspeedway, and explains why not being able to see behind him made him much more hesitant to make aggressive moves throughout the race.

Then there’s the wild final lap. Ryan Preece put together what Denny calls one of the most impressive superspeedway runs of his Cup career to lock into the playoffs, while SVG spun through the grass almost at the exact same time and lost a spot he’d held for months. Denny breaks down how it all unfolded and just how quickly everything changed.

He also weighs in on NASCAR’s new superspeedway aero package, a rare mid-season rule change, including why some drivers pushed back on it and why others liked it. Denny shares his own idea for fixing the stage-length issue that led to so much fuel-saving frustration, plus a Chase points rule he thinks unfairly limits how high a driver can finish if they miss the playoffs.

And with the ten-race Chase about to begin, Denny gives an honest look at what it’s actually like to carry the “favorite” label when everyone expects you to win.

Plus, the Jimmie Johnson throwback paint scheme reveal, the multi-car wreck that shaped the final laps, and the story of how Denny’s team nearly ended up at the wrong airport to pick him up.

Let The Teams Decide? Denny's Not So Sure Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Denny gets into the wet-weather racing, NASCAR’s decision to throw the competition caution, and whether the teams should have just been left to figure out when to change tires. He also breaks down the Hocevar-Zilisch incident, Connor’s rough day, and why the move to Hendrick could be a really good thing for him in the long run.

Then there’s Denny’s own race. He explains the late-race strategy, why he didn’t take two tires when it looked like that might be the move to win the race. The codewords make another appearance too, and Jared has decided they need a whole board game theme now.

With Daytona up next, Denny thinks we could be in for a chaotic one. He also takes a look at the playoff picture, where things stand between SVG and Ryan Preece, and what’s going on with Byron and Bubba as the playoffs get closer.

Could Talladega Decide the Whole Championship? Aug 17, 2026
    Show notes

Welcome back to Actions Detrimental presented by Bob’s Discount Furniture. Chase Briscoe joins the show for a wide-ranging conversation about his relationship with Denny, how they first crossed paths, and the infamous Indy wreck that still gets brought up years later. He also reflects on making the move to Toyota, the learning curve that came with joining JGR, and how working with James Small has helped him continue to improve.

With The Chase getting closer, Chase breaks down the new playoff format, the importance of stacking stage points, and the drivers he sees as being on the bubble. He also looks ahead to Richmond and Darlington, discusses the tight points battle, and explains why consistency could be more important than ever once the playoffs begin.

Chase also shares what it is like racing alongside Denny, why Denny is so difficult to catch on a bad day, the pressure that comes with pit stops, and what goes through a driver's mind when things go wrong on pit road.

There is plenty of fun mixed in, from fishing and driver group chats to getting a text from Kyle Busch.
