NASCAR Was Getting Ready to Create a New Penalty for Denny Hamlin Aug 10, 2026
    Show notes

Iowa was a survival mission for Denny Hamlin.

While Ty Gibbs and Christopher Bell battled for the win up front, Denny was dealing with a brake issue that made an already demanding race even tougher. He breaks down what went wrong, why NASCAR’s parts supplier requirements left his team with limited options, and how the issue impacted his race from inside the 11 car.

Denny also takes a closer look at what made Ty Gibbs so tough to beat at Iowa and how much the young driver has changed since last season. Was the No. 54 actually the best car of the day? And why did Ryan Blaney look so dominant out front before losing some of that advantage in traffic?

The physical toll of the race was another story. Denny shares his WHOOP data to show just how demanding Iowa was and why this race took so much out of him.

Plus, Denny reacts to some of the weekend’s biggest moments, including the Reddick/Jones wreck and a wild four-wide restart involving Alex Bowman and Kyle Larson, before looking at what Iowa means for the playoff picture with 100 points still up for grabs.

Why Connor Zilisch is the Sugar Daddy for the Loser’s Dinner Aug 03, 2026
    Show notes

With no race this weekend and Denny Hamlin on vacation, Todd Gilliland and Connor Zilisch step in to keep the show going.

Todd just won the in-season tournament, and apparently everyone already has their hand out. Spoiler: he doesn't keep all of it. Off the track, Todd is an avid fisherman who would rather not actually touch the fish, and he wastes no time calling out Denny on both his fishing skills and his takes on the tournament.

Connor opens up about the challenges of his rookie Cup Series season, breaking down the biggest adjustments going from O'Reilly to Cup and why the added practice NASCAR is rolling out can't come soon enough. The guys also debate whether NASCAR should rethink how qualifying order is decided.

From there, Connor shares what it's actually like spending time with SVG, Todd gives a behind-the-scenes look at life at Frat (Front Row Motorsports), and the guys weigh in on whether Carson Hocevar should expect any grace from the field going forward.

Other topics include: who would win in a boxing match between Zane Smith and Carson Hocevar, what an SVG vs. Austin Hill fight would look like, whether it's better to call or text a driver after wrecking them, who's in the dog pound, who's headed to the loser's dinner, which driver might be into conspiracies, and which one won't stop talking after a few drinks.

Oh, and Connor thinks Todd might be going through a midlife crisis.

Plus, he gives high praise to Corey Heim after another impressive victory, weighs in on Hendrick Motorsports' recent struggles, and Ryan Preece’s late-race call for four tires.

Why Is Anyone Surprised? Jul 20, 2026
    Show notes

Joey Logano’s dominant win at North Wilkesboro shouldn’t have surprised anyone… at least according to Denny Hamlin. On this episode of Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin, Denny explains why the No. 22 team had the car to beat, what separated Logano from the rest of the field, and why his performance was a sign of things to come at a track like North Wilkesboro Speedway. He also breaks down his own battle with Logano, the moment he thought the No. 22 might be vulnerable, and the late-race strategy call that nearly changed the outcome.

The NASCAR Cup Series returned to North Wilkesboro for its first points-paying race in 30 years, and the crew dives into everything from the racing throughout the field to Carson Hocevar’s battle with Denny, pit road chaos involving Alex Bowman, Tyler Reddick, Kyle Larson, and Connor Zilisch, and whether North Wilkesboro delivered the type of racing fans want to see. Plus, Denny reacts to the latest Playoff picture, the battle around the cutline, NASCAR’s upcoming Daytona changes, the new practice format, and shares stories from his trip to the fishing expo.

Denny Hamlin Just Won Pocono Again, and He’s Got Thoughts Jun 15, 2026
    Show notes

Denny Hamlin is back on Actions Detrimental after winning at Pocono, and apparently winning three straight races is just “a good run” now. Denny breaks down how the No. 11 team got it done, why Pocono fits him so well, and why he says their advantage is earned, not unfair. He gets into the strategy, the restarts, the qualifying piece, the final stage, and why Toyota has everyone’s attention right now. Then Denny gets into the qualifying metric debate and, shocking no one, he has thoughts. He explains why he does not love the idea of random qualifying draws, why he thinks some teams need to stop blaming the format, and why “randomness is not sports.”

Plus, Denny reacts to Zane Smith’s restart move, the Austin Hill/SVG/Josh Berry crash, Legacy Motor Club’s recent speed, the playoff bubble, SVG’s next two weeks on road courses, the Josh Berry/Wood Brothers news, and the Michael Jordan comments that gave him a little extra fuel this offseason. Also in this episode: confetti gun chaos, Travis worrying about putting a Denny Bros sticker on his Kia, San Diego expectations, road course survival goals, Knicks talk, and Justin Allgaier locking into the Xfinity playoffs.

    There’s A New Restart Merchant Jun 08, 2026
    Show notes

Fresh off another Michigan win, Denny Hamlin breaks down how a day spent fighting dirty air and running near 30th turned into a trip to Victory Lane. He explains the adjustments that changed everything, the Stage 2 run that put him back in contention, and why he knew he had the field covered before the final restart in the latest NASCAR Cup Series race. Then it's on to the chaos. Denny gives his take on the late-race wrecks, Carson Hocevar's aggressive driving style, and why "taking a chill pill" might actually make drivers faster. He also shares his thoughts on race craft, patience, and the challenge of balancing speed and survival when everything starts happening at once.

Denny also reflects on career win No. 63, what it means to continue climbing NASCAR's all-time wins list, and why doubters throughout his career may have helped him more than they hurt him. Plus, Denny talks about staying up until midnight to rewatch his own win, dreams up a full-blown Denny Bros. campground takeover at Richmond, and shares plenty of stories and laughs from another memorable NASCAR weekend.
