AP 383: 5 Tips to Create Momentum When You Feel Stuck Mar 14, 2022
    Show notes

One of my happy places is a nice, warm shower. I enjoy it so much that I hate to ever step out, can you relate? But since I can't live my life from there...or the couch, or my cozy bed...I've had to master the art of creating momentum.

In this episode I give you a very simple physics lesson, not to confuse you but to help you realize that the reasons you're feeling stuck are literally science! Our goal is to create the tiniest bit of momentum that will truly carry us through our tasks and days in ways that fulfill us and don't deplete us.

But what if you already know this about momentum, and you likely do, but still find yourself stuck at certain points of your day and your life? I have five very straightforward tips to create just enough energy in the moments you need it most.

Rest assured you do not need to use every one, every time. Take only what you need from these tips, and see how they really apply to me from cleaning, to work emails, to exercise and, of course, showering, as well as a Progressor call-in that we can all relate to.

AP 381: How to Make the Essential Things More Effortless || with Greg McKeown Mar 07, 2022
    Show notes

Does your to-do list make you feel burned out? Part of the problem comes from our hustle culture that glorifies people who “have it all” by doing it all. But, in reality, we can’t have–or do–it all, all the time.

How can we avoid this burnout when we have so much to do?

Greg McKeown has studied and written extensively on this subject. The answer: essentialism. Essentialism is the practice of paring down your life to only the essential. (Ex: simplifying your priorities AND your to-do list.)

But, what happens when even the most essential tasks of life STILL overwhelm you?

This was also the case for Greg. He discovered that although essentialism is THE start to living a more balanced life, there’s another step that follows: making what’s essential effortless.

In this episode, Greg talks about how you (as a REAL woman) can implement his ideas. You’ll leave with two questions you can ask when you feel burned out: “Is this essential?” And, “How can I make what is essential effortless?”

Plus, you’ll hear practical steps you can take to actually apply this in your life.

If you want to avoid burnout AND have the ability to do what matters most without the hustle, you won’t want to miss this episode!

AP 379: How to Disrupt Your Procrastination Loops Feb 28, 2022
    Show notes

If you ever procrastinate, know you’re not alone. All humans on earth procrastinate on some level. It’s sooo easy to get lost in “procrastination loops.” (Enter: scrolling endlessly on social media.)

Procrastination doesn’t just prevent you from getting things done, like doing the dishes or cleaning the house.

Procrastinating also prevents you from being the person you want to be. We even procrastinate our dreams, goals, and habits!

How can we disrupt these procrastination loops and manage our procrastination tendencies?

Today I’m sharing an interview I did with Rachel Nielson on her podcast 3 in 30: Takeaways For Moms. You’ll learn WHAT procrastination is and WHY it’s super easy to fall into endless loops of procrastination and three ways you can better control your procrastination tendencies.

    AP 378: Consider Using a Mantra || Growth Spurt Feb 24, 2022
    Show notes

I have learned an unexpected amount over the past year as a coach, from my training and my students. The most recent surprise was abut using a mantra, something that I thought wouldn't come easily to me with my fast-paced brain. But, in reflecting on my life's experiences I can identify a steady mantra.

In the past my mantra came about organically, and I clung to it. Now, I see the benefit of setting an intentional mantra to help reset your mind when you're facing behaviors that don't align with your values. Tune in as I use questions to guide you toward setting your own mantra to navigate the feelings and obstacles in your way.

Let me know if this new tool helps you gain more control and feel more alignment in your life!

AP 377: How to Have More Fairness in Housework + Why Doing So Dramatically Improves Your Relationships || with Eve Rodsky Feb 21, 2022
    Show notes

Do you ever find yourself left with no time to work on yourself and habits because you’re managing your household?

We’ve been told that “women can have it all,” but to have it all, we find ourselves doing it all . . .

Research shows that regardless of whether women do paid-work in or out of the home, they manage the majority of household responsibilities.

To top it all off, research shows that housework is hugely undervalued both by the world and by our family members. (That includes the ways we undervalue our own contributions, too.)

This combo of too-little-time and too-little-value leads to discord and resentment.

In this week’s episode, I invited Eve Rodsky to help us work through these issues so we can have more fairness in housework and improve relationships (+ more time!) Eve spent over a decade studying the imbalance in time/value spent on housework and created a life-changing solution she calls the Fair Play system that solves so many of these problems.

In this episode, Eve teaches you how to restore fairness to the housework and how doing so will benefit every member of the family.

(Teaser: fairness isn’t about dividing the household tasks and responsibilities 50/50.)

It’s time to have more time, to feel more valued, and to improve your relationships, too. Listen in and learn how!

AP 376: What I Do With Numbing Behaviors || Growth Spurt Feb 17, 2022
    Show notes

Earlier this week I released an episode about the different types of self care, and answered some call-ins from members of the community who wanted help in that area. One, in particular, mentioned an obstacle that so many of us are facing, and it warranted its own short Growth Spurt episode today.

What do you do when you have the time for taking care of yourself, but are turning to numbing behaviors instead of fulfilling ones? In the future I have an info-packed episode coming all about numbing behaviors, but today I want to just share what works for me, in the hopes you might be inspired for yourself. I hope you tune in for the steps I try to take when I find myself not using my precious time in ways that truly align with my values. Let me know if this is something that can work for you, too!
