What is the hold up for the Big Ten + college hoops has a start date Sep 15, 2020
    Show notes

It's the new Tuesday edition of the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast, as Aaron discusses the two biggest topics in college sports. He goes into the situation in the Big Ten, and why we still don't have a decision on football, then discusses college hoops' proposed start date and what to expect from the season. Here is a rundown of today's show:

What is holding up the Big Ten? Aaron opens the show giving an update on the Big Ten (4:00). They were supposed to decide on the future of their football season on Sunday, so why is there still no decision? Aaron explains the answer, as well as what the next steps will be. He then passionately explains why the presidents need to make a decision immediately.

College hoops has a start date: Aaron wraps this quick, rapid-fire show by discussing college hoops having a proposed start date! He explains why November 21st makes logical sense, and then discusses what the season may look like. Finally, he takes fans behind the scenes on what college "bubbles" could potentially look like, and why college basketball coaches are working overtime to make them happen.

Will the Big Ten actually return + College Football weekend recap Sep 14, 2020
    Show notes

It's an all new episode of the Aaron Torres Podcast -- and for the first time this fall, we have Power 5 football to recap! Aaron opens the show by giving the latest on the Big Ten, why he's now optimistic they will return -- he's just not sure when. Then he transitions to Week 2 to recap a wild weekend for the Sun Belt and more. Here is a rundown of the show:

The latest on the Big Ten: Aaron opens the show by updating the audience on everything going on in the Big Ten, and discusses whether or not he believes the league will actually return or not (6:00). If the league returns he tells you the reasons that they will use to explain their overturned decision, as opposed to what the real reasons actually are. He also explains why he believes that the league is considering both an October and Thanksgiving return, and why he is not confident that the league will actually make the right decision.

A full recap of the first full weekend of college football: Aaron turns his attention to the actual on the field product. He explains why we shouldn't freak out about no fans in the stands, why it won't feel the same until the SEC comes back and why the MLB, (yes, the MLB!) deserves credit for getting football on the field this weekend (29:30). Finally, he discusses a big day for the Sun Belt which also doubled as a disastrous day for the Big 12 (38:00) and asks "How did Florida State football get so bad" after a fourth straight season opening loss {42:00).

Expanded NCAA Tournament + Billy Donovan + College Football Preview Sep 10, 2020
    Show notes

It's Thursday and you know what that means: An all new Aaron Torres Podcast. Even with football kicking off, Aaron opens by discussing the idiotic conversation about expanding the NCAA Tournament and then wonders if Billy Donovan could actually return to college hoops. Then he closes by discussing week one of the college football season.

Expanded NCAA Tournament: Aaron opens the show by discussing the idiotic conversation about potentially including all 346 teams in college basketball in the NCAA Tournament (5:00). He explains why it's something that TV networks would reject, ruin the absolute fiber of college hoops and doesn't make sense for anyone involved.

Could Billy Donovan return to college hoops? Torres turns his attention to Billy Donovan who is out in OKC (27:00). Aaron explains why, even if Donovan might want to stay in the NBA, college might be the better fit. Also, what schools could make sense? And how many schools would fire their coaches to hire Donovan if they could afford to?

Week 2 CFB Preview: Aaron wraps the show by discussing the return of ACC and Big 12 teams in Week 2 of the college football season (35:00). He explains why he believes both the Clemson and Notre Dame games are stay aways, while sharing his favorite bets of this weekend.

College football is back + Big Ten embarrasses itself (again) + RIP Lute Olson Aug 31, 2020
    Show notes

It's Monday and you know what that means -- an all new Aaron Torres Sports Podcast. With college football returning this weekend, Aaron discusses another embarrassing weekend for the Big Ten and LSU wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase's decision to declare for the NFL Draft. He then remembers legendary Arizona coach Lute Olson who passed away this weekend. Here is a rundown of today's show:

College football is back, even as Big Ten embarrasses itself again: Aaron opens the show by discussing the return of college sports, after six long months without a game (5:30). He then quickly transitions to the Big Ten, which now may try to start around Thanksgiving -- a plan that is somehow worse than waiting until the winter (8:30). Aaron explains why it makes no sense, and why there is no reason that the Big Ten can't kick off the season by early October and play with the SEC, ACC and Big 12. Finally, he talks about LSU wide receiver JaMarr Chase's decision to go pro - and explains why it isn't as big as some in the media are making it, and won't be a trend this season (25:00).

RIP Lute Olson: Aaron closes the show by talking about the life and legacy of legendary Arizona coach Lute Olson, who passed away last week at the age of 85 (35:00). He explains why Olson is one of the great program builders in college basketball, and why all the success that Arizona has right now can be attributed to Olson. No program West of Lawrence, Kansas takes basketball more seriously than Arizona, and it's because of Lute Olson.
