Episode 16: All Hail to the Thief! Sep 23, 2016
    Show notes

We’ve arrived at Radiohead’s sixth and longest album this week, and it’s bound to be a contentious series of episodes, as Anne and Ben have some pretty differing opinions on this record. Aside from debating over the tracklist and which songs are the best, we talk a bit about how Hail to the Thief captured a specific period in western politics, share more formative experiences in our respective introductions to Radiohead’s music, and reveal how Sail to the Moon may hold the key to understanding one of Thom’s more esoteric lyrical motifs. Next week: Probably more arguing.

Episode 15: Well, Of Course I'd Like to Sit Around and Chat... Sep 16, 2016
    Show notes

Listen in as Anne and Ben chew the fat over Amnesiac for one more episode. We run the gamut this week from silly conversations about bear assassins and Bjork albums, to deep self-reflection on our ethical responsibility as fans and podcast hosts regarding the degree of our musical criticism and analysis. And there is much rejoicing over newly confirmed live shows in 2017!

Episode 14: Open Up And Let Me In. Sep 09, 2016
    Show notes

Our dissection of Radiohead’s fifth album continues in this week’s episode. We debate over which version of Morning Bell is superior, ponder the significance of the word Amnesiac as the title of the record, and discuss what makes Knives Out connect so powerfully with people going through trauma. And Ben realizes that he had chatted on AIM with the Googly Minotaur back in the day, years before ever listening to Radiohead’s music. Amnesiac, indeed.

Episode 13: Nothing to Fear, Nothing to Doubt? Sep 02, 2016
    Show notes

After, uh...six days of waiting, the new episode came! Our coverage of Amnesiac begins, and we dig deep into the first three tracks in one of our longest episodes so far. What makes Amnesiac a cult favorite among hardcore fans? What time signature is Pyramid Song in? What’s the connection between Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors and True Love Waits? All that and more this week!

Episode 12: I Will See You In the Next Life... Aug 26, 2016
    Show notes

The Kid A series comes to a close this week. We consider Morning Bell’s status as the link between Kid A and Amnesiac, Thom’s use of lyrical cliches (for good or for ill), and what the lack of unreleased material performed on this tour so far may mean for the future of the band. Plus: Frank Ocean feat. Jonny Greenwood and the LCO!

Episode 11: Dinosaurs Roaming The Earth! Aug 19, 2016
    Show notes

We take a look at the hard-hitting midsection of Kid A this week, featuring debate over the placement of Treefingers, Anne’s memories of hearing In Limbo live on the 2008 tour, and discussing what makes Kid A sound so timeless. Plus: lots of fan feedback on our previous Kid A episode!

Episode 10: Come On, Kids. Aug 12, 2016
    Show notes

I had never even seen a shooting star before....We take on Radiohead’s massive fourth album, Kid A. This involves discussion on Kid A’s influential status as an accessible record in the age of Napster, revisiting the title track’s live transformation over the years, and how choosing the tracklist for Kid A and Amnesiac may have been like competing on Chopped.

Episode 9: Hey, Man, Slow Down... Aug 05, 2016
    Show notes

We're back after a week’s hiatus, to cap off our coverage on OK Computer with the last four tracks on the album. Plus, during our week off, Ben went to Chicago to see Radiohead at Lollapalooza! All this and more on this week’s episode - it’s gonna be a glorious play.

Episode 8: Fitter. Happier. More Cowbell. Jul 22, 2016
    Show notes

I got a fever, and the only prescription is a new episode! Anne finally gets to discuss her favorite track from OK Computer, the singular cowbell jam of Electioneering. And Ben ignores Fitter Happier’s instructions and kills a spider. We also jump ahead in time a bit to talk about the impact of In Rainbows on the digital music model.

Episode 7B: Exit Music (For a Podcast) Jul 20, 2016
    Show notes

Topics of discussion in the second half of our seventh episode include Radiohead’s history with soundtracking films, the curious case of Subterranean Homesick Alien live, and the aesthetic of OK Computer. Plus: Ben shares what he’s hoping to see at Radiohead’s performance at Lollapalooza next week.
