The A+ Parents podcast, Hosted by “Mr. D Math Live” Founder Dennis DiNoia, speaks with parents, homeschool organizations, and homeschool influencers on how to help our students become self-directed learners.

Our programs encourage students to discover how to learn vs what to learn and how to teach others what they are learning along the way. Mr. D Math Live programs empower students to correct their work, discover their own ah-ha moments and develop lifelong self-mastery skills.

We share tips, tricks and stories from educators on how students can think for themselves by teaching them to operate with free will, accountability, honor, and respect.

Our unique approach awakens students to discover their own unique expression of how they view education. They communicate what they’ve discovered and apply their knowledge to “the world outside of a classroom.” We focus on multiple learning styles allowing students to discover their own strengths in how they learn.

After all, what does every parent truly want? We all want our children to have a great life beyond what their report card says. That is what it means to be an A+ Parent. Grades are important. But not as important as the lifetime of happiness through self-discovery and knowledge mastery.

Genevieve Noelle is a homeschooled, Florida, teen, native to Ohio. Her love for writing and passion for books came reluctantly at first. She was not at all interested in reading or writing until her mother was "too slow" finishing a book she was reading aloud to Genevieve and her siblings. Genevieve picked up the book to read it herself instead. Her love for books, reading, writing, and drawing very quickly blossomed.

Genevieve decided to unleash her own imagination and her first novel series, "A Dog in Time," was born! With lots of hard work and perseverance she pushed forward to meet her goals of publishing her books to share with kids and families everywhere!

Noelle hopes to inspire children all over the world to read, write, and to never give up! She hopes you enjoy these wonderful adventures and characters in this first introduction to her imagination, "A Dog in Time!"

The Floating School: Raising Independent Learners On A Boat | Tanya Hackney Sep 01, 2023

Show notes

Tanya Hackney graduated with a B.A. from Middlebury College in 1997, where she majored in English and double-minored in French and Education. She married her high school sweetheart and taught kindergarten in Atlanta, Georgia before transitioning to homeschooling her own five children aboard sailing vessel Take Two.

She’s lived aboard, traveled, and written for the Take Two Sailing blog for the last fifteen years. She has always had a bad case of wanderlust, having taken countless road trips as a child, spent a semester in Paris during college, and honeymooned in Mexico.

In 2021, she published an award-winning memoir, Leaving the Safe Harbor: the Risks and Rewards of Raising a Family on a Boat. In her free time, she plays the ukulele, paints landscapes, and kayaks.

A Day In The Life With Smoothhawk | Evan Grant Aug 30, 2023

Evan Grant lives on a ranch in California. He has 10 horses, 6 dogs, 13 cats, 6 peacoks, 15 chickens, 3 ducks, and 10 goats. His favorite hobbies are watching Star wars and Marvel movies and building Star wars lego sets.

Evan also enjoys video and photo editing. Another one of his hobbies is coding projects on the platform known as scratch.edu. Evan is known as Evanmaster2021 and SmoothHawk on scratch and in the gaming world.

From Homeschooled Student To Public School Teacher: Annie's Educational Journey | Annie Dean Aug 25, 2023

Annie Dean is 25 years old. She was homeschooled until her senior year in high school. She graduated from Kings High School in 2016 and graduated college in 2020 with a Degree in Special Education.

Annie graduated on May 13, 2023 with her Masters's Degree in Educational Studies. Her Masters Thesis Integrative Project focused on Homeschool vs. Public/Private School.

Annie is currently working at a Career Tech High School where she teaches 20 Special Education students and supports them in their Career Tech labs (Web Apps, Construction, HVAC).

Despite working in public school, Annie is very passionate about homeschooling and parental rights in education. Her parents founded Great Homeschool Conventions. Whenever she is

available, she travels with Great Homeschool Conventions to give an extra hand to her parents.

Annie is a huge believer that every child has different educational needs and with the right support/resources they can achieve academic success.

Helping The Youtube Generation Understand Our Nuanced Past | Nate Noorlander Aug 16, 2023

In college Nate Noorlander double-majored in philosophy and history teaching. After a stint as a project manager with a disaster repair company, he moved to Beijing, China, where he taught IGCSE and A Level history at the Cambridge International Curriculum Center of Beijing Normal University. He also spent time touring in India and trekking in Nepal. Worn out by the Beijing air, Nate moved home with his family and taught English and history at Mountainville Academy, and then the American International School of Utah. At AISU he developed mini-courses in boredom and awareness (probably close to what many people call mindfulness) based around Heidegger’s ideas about technology, and Nicholas Carr’s ideas about what the internet does to our brains, areas of study that (perhaps ironically) he finds compelling. Worn out this time by life in the beautiful mountain west he returned to Beijing, where he taught IB history, IB English, and Theory of Knowledge at the Yew Chung International School of Beijing. When Covid-19 hit he was coaching the boys basketball team and gearing up for an end-of-season tournament in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, ignorant of what was coming.

The trip was canceled, his family just made it out of Beijing on a flight three times its usual cost, and he stuck it out in the shuttered city for another six weeks. When life didn’t change, he left too. Since then it’s been all history with The Nomadic Professor.
