116- Building your pedalboard from scratch Apr 18, 2016
    Show notes

This episode was sponsored by Electro Faustus, makers of the Blackfly spring activated instruments and many other excellent noise making devices. In Episode 116 Ryan talks about his newest instrument, a Stradella accordion handed down from his wife's uncle. Ryan then attempts to play the accordion. HUGE MISTAKE. Here are the ads for this week Jackson Telecaster Double Neck Guitar What's updog? This week we talk about how we went through the process of building up our pedalboards and what we would do if we had to start from scratch again. This week's song was from Tyson Brinacombe and is called "Wrong Crowd"

115 - What is "Modern Rock" anyway? Apr 11, 2016
    Show notes

This episode was sponsored by Barefoot Buttons, maker of some fancy foot switch covers that make classic stomp switches so much easier to stomp. In this episode Ryan and Steve are joined by Donny from Emoji Pedal Reviews. This week we're coming off a big Wheel of Pedals game, with 14 entries into the swap. Thanks guys! If you want to find out more about the contest, shoot an email over to 60cyclehumcast@gmail.com. Our ads this week feature two customized pieces and one "hand built" instrument from a famous builder. First up, we look at a vintage Musicmaster with some interesting modifications. Next, a custom cut guitar makes us ask if the truth is out there and whether or not we actually want to believe. Finally we get to something normal from the custom, hand made shop of none other than these guys. For this week's topic we were asked to think about the top 5 essential effects for playing modern rock...which was tough because we weren't really sure what modern rock was to begin with. I think we eventually figured it out though. This week's music was sent by Chris Brewer of the band DeLorean Gray. The song is called "Mundane Days". Chris also makes the Less than or Sequel to Podcast.

    114 - Steve's busted mic cable Apr 04, 2016
    Show notes

You might notice that Steve's mic cuts in and out this episode, and you might have noticed that there was some noise on his line last week. We were using a cable that was very sick and didn't realize it until after our recording session. Please accept that cable and find solace in the thought that we took that cable out to the yard and gave it a proper burial. In Episode 114 Ryan and Steve unveil the newest entry into the Klon-style pedal market...at least if all it took to be in that market is putting your pedal in a Klon-style box. That's right, we're talking about the Pelitaur from Pelican Noiseworks. It's an incredible 2-n-1 sort of fuzz that looks like a Klon on the outside, but sounds nothing like it on the inside. It's awesome. There will be a Youtube demo of it that you should check out. This week we talk about why refinishing should sometimes be left to the pros, unless you know what you're doing and can make something as rad as this, or go fully custom like this. Next we explore the business of the guitar world, starting with the question "Why doesn't Fender buy out Mastery?" This week's music was sent by David Danielson from the band Jacket Weather. The song is called "When Buildings Collapse".

    Mini 17 - What is this? Apr 01, 2016
    Show notes

In this week's episode, Ryan and Steve take a brief history of the city of Coronado and the oddity that is the Hotel del Coronado. Of course, we take some side trips all over San Diego County in the process.

    Show notes

    113 - Velcro Treasure Chest -- Mar 28, 2016
    Show notes

This episode was sponsored by Electro-Faustus, maker of the Guitardammerung as well as many other wild guitar effects and small box noise makers. If noise is your game, Electro-Faustus is the cheat code to first place. In Episode 113, Ryan and Steve unveil the WHEEL OF PEDALS! It's out latest contest. Everyone who enters wins. Listen to the episode to find out more. Ryan flirts with a local Squier Duo-Sonic in a fun game of "will he, won't he". Next, Steve talks about an ad he was tagged in where a guy is just selling strips of Velcro. Finally...if your amp has two broken knobs, no, it's not in "great shape" any more. In this week's topic, our fearless duo tackle the topic of secret features on pedals. Why do they exist? We're not sure...but we're going to act like we might. Thanks to Donny Coyle from the band The Dead Squirrels for this week's song, "Milky Way".

Mini 16 - Demoing New Pedals with Daniel Tyack of Salvage Custom Mar 23, 2016
    Show notes

Ryan and Daniel Tyack demo three recent pedal acquisitions: the Electro Harmonix Cock Fight, the Walrus Audio Julia, and the TOMKAT Day Dreamer.

    Mini 15 - Tyack's Little Baby Board Mar 17, 2016
    Show notes

Ryan and Daniel were sitting in the garage, fuming over being stood up by Josh Scott of JHS pedals when suddenly Daniel plugged in a guitar. At the same time Ryan plugged in some mics, and a podcast magically appeared! It was super effective!

    111 - BASSically Mar 14, 2016
    Show notes

This episode was sponsored by Alexander Pedals: Great Tone Doing Good. Be on the lookout for the Super Radical Delay and Oblivion Vintage Delay coming soon, and go to their website to check out the rest of their awesome lineup. Episode 111 of 60 Cycle Hum is BASSically our most annoying episode ever. We launch into the episode talking about Steve's Peavey Generation and Ryan's acquisition of an EHX Holy Grail. Then we cruise into the ad station to think about life and the world of people that own Danelectro guitars. We follow it up with a homespun headstock repair and a whole bunch of cheap pedals we found for sale locally. This week we give our review of two products. First up are in-ear monitors from Ultimate Ears. We personally tried out the UE7, but we describe the entire mold-free process they use to create your custom-fitted IEMs. Next we talk about the Loknob replacement knobs for effects, amps and instruments. This week's music was a non-titled track sent in by Kent Guldbransen of the band iRerror.
