Why am I getting smarter but not richer? Jun 28, 2019
    Show notes

Learning more does not make you richer, but if you combine new knowledge with understanding and implementation, it will change your life in many ways - including financially. We also look at how artists and coaches can increase their income. You can be good and broke if you don't know how to build your brand and reputation.

    Questions This Week:

    1. I'm investing 3% in my personal growth but all I'm doing is getting smarter, not richer.

    2. Dan, I heard you say You can make a living selling people what they need, but you can get rich selling people what they want." Would you elaborate further on that idea and how you have seen that play out over the years?

    3. Can I just sell my art without showing my name?

    4. I'm a great coach - why am I not making money?

    5. I'm exploring the possibility of becoming a financial coach. Could you make a living at this or would it have to be part of some other business model?

    "I think I'm having a heart attack!" (Bonus Episode) Jun 24, 2019
    Show notes

This is a bonus 48 Days Radio episode based on questions I had for Michael Hyatt.

In this last year I've been on the receiving end of overworking. I compromised my health dreadfully and have spent a year rebuilding. Yes, I love my work - but overwork still leads to lack of success in other areas of life.

Here my good friend Michael Hyatt helps me understand the mistakes I made, using principles from his new book, Free to Focus.

    Questions:

    1. How did you break the cycle of overworking?

    2. Many people are still working in businesses that are labor intensive. And they can rightfully say "I'm not really in control of my time." What encouragement can you give them?

    3. What about the person who says: "My circumstances won't allow it right now, but they're only temporary."

In the middle section of Free to Focus you talk about three things we can do to get more control over our time:

    Eliminate

    Automate

    Delegate

    4. Give us a couple of tips in each of those areas to help us find time that allows us to breathe, play and connect while still accomplishing the very best we have to offer at work.

I just want to serve, not make money Jun 07, 2019

I want to just serve - not make money… A common statement from talented people is that they feel guilty being paid for something they are passionate about and that comes so easily for them. So is it better to do something you don't care about as a means of generating your necessary income? I don't think so - let's look at the ways to serve well - and live well.

    I'm pretty sure I'm insane May 31, 2019
    Show notes

A listener admits to crippling fear that's holding him back from pursuing any new ideas. We can welcome fear as a healthy thing as long as we keep it in the back seat of our car, and out of the driver's seat. Which of the 7 Fear Types is most dominant for you?

    Questions:

    1. Currently I feel empty, bored, not fulfilled and tired. At 50 years old I know I was created for more.
    2. I'm pretty sure that I am insane. The only problem is that the "fear, I'm not worthy, I'm gonna look stupid" side takes up about 95% of my brain.
    3. Is there any good information on how to network with other people for business connections?
    4. I am working on a seminar about Disaster Preparedness that will be free. How can I get businesses in this space to sponsor it?

    I make over $100,000 year and I'm not happy May 24, 2019
    Show notes

How Do You Measure Success? A listener feels stuck. He's making a lot of money but feels no sense of fulfillment in the work he's doing. Guess what? With that success he's not stuck. With the life experience he has at 45 years old, he can do a little introspection and move right into a better opportunity. Oh, and by the way, don't assume your income will drop. Doing something that's a better fit will set the stage for dramatic increase - even without a college degree.

    Plus these questions:

    1. What do you do when you are ridiculously passionate about so many different things?

    2. How do I put a value on that 20 years of experience and college degree? It seems like all the avenues I find for "moving up" are with specific degrees, so I seem to be stuck on low-level, low-pay jobs.

    3. I am a new graduate and applied for a position posted with a salary range of $24.08 - $37.61 hourly. As I move forward in the process of potentially getting hired by this company, how do I handle this part of the conversation?

    4. I am 45 years old, and I make over $100,000 year, I'm not happy, even with that income it doesn't take away the pain of not finding my fulfillment. I'm frustrated and depressed and don't know where to start.

    5. Dan, what are your thoughts on starting an ice-cream truck business? We found a truck for sale costing $8,000.

Winning for God - losing at home? May 17, 2019
    Show notes

What if I'm doing something worthwhile in a non-profit organization but my wife resents it? Isn't doing meaningful service always a good thing? No, our first responsibility is to our own family - not to everyone else in the world. Listen to why it can't be justified.

    Questions this week:

    1. My wife says that she hasn't seen many people teaching other people and trying to save the world go very well in family life...many divorces, child rebellion etc.

    2. A recent college grad is set to become a classroom teacher but doesn't think it is the best use of her skills and abilities.

    3. After failing a job performance review at a company he worked for for 26 years, my husband is faced, at the age of 64, with coming up with a new career!

    4. How do I best help my husband increase his confidence? He is depressed, he longs for something fulfilling.

    5. I'm a SI on the disc profile system and find it very frustrating in not being able to make decisive decisions. How do I break through this barrier?

    6. I'm college-educated and have been working since I was 16. How do I put a value on that 20 years of experience and college degree? It seems like all the avenues I find for "moving up" are with specific degrees, so I seem to be stuck on low-level, low-pay jobs.

    Questions this week:

    1. How can I reach my goals when I continuously fail?

    2. How can I make being a Certified Dirt Bike Instructor my full time business?

    3. I enjoy the research and reviewing aspects of the position, but, I'll just say it out loud, I hate customer service!!!
