Blocked Punt, Pick-6, Walk-Off Kick: How #1 Texas Lost to Oklahoma 27-24 | LIVE Postgame Recap Show Oct 10, 2026

Show notes

The #1 Texas Longhorns go down in Dallas. Oklahoma wins the Red River Rivalry 27-24 on Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal as time expired, and we’re LIVE breaking down all of it.
Texas held Oklahoma to 238 total yards, forced seven three-and-outs, and gave up just one offensive touchdown, and still lost. The guys go through how that happened:
Offense: Arch Manning throws for 260 yards and 3 TDs, including a 41-yard strike to Cam Coleman and the game-tying score to Jermaine Bishop Jr., but no first downs on the first four drives and two costly interceptions
Defense: a dominant day against John Mateer and the Sooners’ offense, until two completions to Isaiah Sategna in the final 19 seconds
Special teams: the blocked punt recovered for an Oklahoma touchdown, and Gianni Spetic’s 53-yard miss with 1:55 left
Crucial plays: Peyton Bowen’s 42-yard pick-6, the third-down pass interference that set up OU’s only offensive TD, and Courtland Guillory’s interception with 19 seconds to go
Key players: who showed up and who Texas needed more from
Plus: how far does Texas (4-1, 1-1 SEC) fall in the polls, what has to get fixed, and a look ahead to No. 16 Florida in Austin next Saturday.

Texas vs. Oklahoma Preview: OU Hasn't Scored a TD on Texas in 1,096 Days | Red River Rivalry 2026 Oct 07, 2026

Show notes

Oklahoma has not scored a touchdown against Texas since joining the SEC. Does that streak survive Saturday in Dallas? The #1 Longhorns (4-0) are 8.5-point favorites over a 2-2 Oklahoma team trying to salvage its season, and the 3rd & Longhorn crew doesn't see the Sooners finding the end zone.
Rod Babers, Alex Okafor, Fozzy Whittaker, Jeremy Hills, Mark Higgins and Nick Shuley break down the Red River Rivalry from every angle:
* Texas offense vs. a top-10 Venables defense: can the Horns stay ahead of the chains and finally find their identity?
* What Hollywood Smothers' return means for Arch Manning and the run game
* The OU corner Sark needs to test, and the tackling problem a bye week can't fix
* Muschamp's defense vs. a turnover-prone John Mateer and an offense ranked 123rd nationally
* Colin Simmons, a six-deep defensive tackle room, and winning with a 15% blitz rate
* Jeremy Hills' "let it fly" game plan for Oklahoma
* Special teams, the one phase that worries us
* 2:30 vs. 11 a.m. kickoff: the former players weigh in
* Score predictions from the whole crew (and Rod's birthday wish)

How Texas Escaped Knoxville With a 20-17 Win, Colin Simmons Makes History, What's Next for Offense Sep 29, 2026

Show notes

Number one Texas escapes Knoxville with a 20-17 win over Tennessee and the whole crew is in the room to break it all down. Rod Babers, Jeremy Hills, Fozzy Whittaker, Alex Okafor, Mark Higgins, and Nick Shuley go through every angle of a game that saw Colin Simmons break the Texas record with 5.5 sacks as part of a historic ten sack defensive performance. The crew breaks down the beautiful rush plan that used Simmons as a standing Joker to create chaos for a freshman quarterback, Lance Jackson's coming out party, and why this defense might be a top ten unit in the country. On the other side, six sacks allowed, turnovers, penalties, and a passing game that still has not found its rhythm. Rod demands more from the offense and compares it to a star studded movie with a bad plot.

They also talk about what Giani Spetic's 52 yard field goal means for this team going forward, Ryan Niblett finally showing some wiggle, and why UTSA has some guys that are going to be playing somewhere else next year.

Texas TE Spencer Shannon on Carrying the Tight End Legacy, Colin Simmons & His Unexpected Path to UT Sep 17, 2026

Show notes

Texas Longhorns tight end Spencer Shannon joins 3rd & Longhorn for a conversation that covers everything from his unexpected path to the position to what it means to carry on one of the most impressive tight end traditions in college football. Spencer talks about growing up in California with family ties to Houston, what it was like coming in behind Ja'Tavion Sanders, Gunnar Helm, and Jack Endries and what he learned from each of them, and how he has found his voice as the leader of the tight end room. He also breaks down why Sark considers the tight end the second most important position in the offense, who gives him the most trouble in practice, and which new faces on campus have caught his eye. Oh, and the guy throws 92 miles per hour. We buried that lead a little bit.
