The Mighty 690 with Alexander Hamilton Cherin Feb 23, 2024

Show notes

Will chats with author Alexander Hamilton Cherin about his new novel "The Mighty Six-Ninety (690)." It's a fictionalized account of actual events that transpired in Southern California during the Summer of 1981.

A struggling AM radio station buried $50,000 in cash and gave its listeners clues as to its location, one a day, until the money was found. Set against the backdrop of a California landscape very much in flux, the story resonates evenly between desperation, hope, and suburban dissonance.

News Flash: Purple Rain Is Headed to Broadway Jan 14, 2024

Show notes

Prince's 1984 film "Purple Rain" is headed to Broadway. So, Will is joined by Marcus Taylor, the shows' resident Prince expert, to discuss the potential for a musical adaption. While the film was a a box office success, Prince's protagonist "The Kid" isn't the hero of the piece you'd hope for. Will changes to the original story be necessary to make audiences root for him? Or is the amazing music sufficient enough to make the plot irrelevant?

Rewind: Cindy Morgan Interview Jan 10, 2024

Show notes

In 2020, less than a year after the launch of our inaugural podcast, we reached out to a number of iconic 1980s artists who would wanted to interview. And although at the time we did not have a track record of celebrity interviews, Cindy Morgan ("Caddyshack", "Tron") accepted our invitation. To our delight, she was more than just polite, she was generous, vulnerable, and honest.

In our interview, we discuss the career path that landed the former radio host in "Caddyshack," a film in which she appeared opposite the biggest comedic actors of the era. Cindy also shares her experience with producer Jon Peters that derailed what seemed to be her path to stardom.

Sadly, Cindy died last month at her home in Florida.
