Mike Schleibaum from Darkest Hour and Be Well Jul 07, 2021

Show notes

The DUDE is on the podcast this week. By the DUDE I mean Mr. Mike Schliebaum who is the lead shredder in metal stalwarts Darkest Hour, Be Well and Battery. He's an incredibly prolific musician and someone who I call a friend. We talk about his new signature guitar, being an "asshole" and how he finds himself fitting in. What an episode!

Kevin Seconds from 7 Seconds Jun 30, 2021

Show notes

This week on the podcast we have the legend Kevin Seconds on the show. We discuss the re-issue of their seminal record, The Crew and what it was like growing up in Reno. He also talks about the fact he never wants to be the "old guy on the porch" when it comes to music. I couldn't be more excited to share so I hope you enjoy!

Greg Anderson from Engine Kid/Southern Lord Records/Sunn 0)) Jun 23, 2021

Show notes

A Pacific Northwest hardcore/metal legend, Greg Anderson is on the show this week. He played in Engine Kid, Brotherhood, currently runs Southern Lord Records and also plays in Sunn 0))) and Goatsnake. In short, he's done a ton of rad stuff within independent music, so I asked him all the questions. We covered the inception of the PNW hardcore scene, commercial success and musical isolation.

Brian Fair from Overcast/Shadows Fall Jun 16, 2021

Show notes

New England Metal and Hardcore staple Brian Fair from Shadows Fall/Overcast is on the show this week! I am VERY excited as I have admired his work for many years and worked alongside of him when he played in Shadows Fall (I worked at Century Media while they were releasing their earlier LP's) but never got to spend time with him. We changed that and discussed a ton of things like his early touring life, his diverse music tastes and of course, his dreadlocks. GO!

Brian Moss from The Ghost/Hanalei Jun 09, 2021

Show notes

Today we have Brian Moss the band behind Hanalei and the underrated band, The Ghost. I love both of his bands so when the opportunity to have him on the show came up, I jumped at it. Brian and I discuss his experience being a working class band, his occupation as a teacher and how important the outdoors is to his well-being. He just released his latest full length with Hanalei called "Black Snow" and I urge you to check it out.

Mike Hranica from The Devil Wears Prada Jun 02, 2021

Show notes

Mike Hranica from The Devil Wears Prada joins me on the podcast today. I have always been fascinated by this band from their meteoric rise to capture the attention of the early 2000's metalcore/Christian scenes and moving quickly onto the Warped Tour stages across the country...the band definitely always had something to say. Now, heading into the bands 16th year of existence, they keep pushing their comfort zones and evolving. Mike and I discuss his process of writing a book, detaching his ego from his position in the band and so much more. Enjoy!

Chris Evenson from Sensefield May 26, 2021

Show notes

Sensefield is an amazing band. They were huge in my early years of understanding that I could indeed listen to music that wasn't just screaming at me. I had the opportunity to bring on Chris Evanson the guitarist of the band on the podcast to discuss their "lost" record on Warner Brothers, his exposure to South Bay punk and the idea of them being a "bridge" band. Listen and enjoy!

Marshall Gallagher from Teenage Wrist May 19, 2021

Show notes

Let's talk about a cool new band okay? I fell in love with Teenage Wrist in 2018 when they dropped their first LP called "Chrome Neon Jesus" on my unsuspecting ears and it's this weird combo of Failure/Hum/Hoobastank (no joking) but simply put it just rocks. They just dropped a new heater called "Earth Is A Black Hole" and I had to have someone in the band on the show. Cue Marshall Gallagher and we dive deep into the bands history, his life on the road with 3OH3! (yes, that one) and growing up in the Denver suburbs. Even if you've never heard the band, you will find something to enjoy in this discussion.

Vince Averill from Cross Control, Capsule & Abiology Records and We Watch Wrestling Podcast May 12, 2021

Show notes

Boy, this chat was a treat. Vince Averill is the vocalist for Cross Control and one of the co-hosts of We Watch Wrestling Podcast but his roots in punk/hardcore go deep with him putting out the first Grade 7" as well as the classic Ottawa/Jihad split 12" (a classic in my book). I found out this info all in short order so I had to have him on the show. We go deep on Detroit hardcore, DIY worlds colliding and the world of stand up comedy. Have fun!

Jason Stewart from How Long Gone May 05, 2021

Show notes

The core is strong in this one. I have Jason Stewart, one of the co-hosts from the prolific podcast How Long Gone. He also is a DJ operating under the moniker of "Them Jeans" as well as a man in the culinary scene working with a ton of different brands. In short, he's a cool dude. What makes him even cooler is our shared history within the OC hardcore scene and the deep threads that he ties back to being exposed to the DIY music community. We discuss the OC core, Del Taco marketing and his life as a DJ. A lot of joking in this particular episode but we go places. Enjoy!
