Can you believe it is still January? It feels like it has been decades long because so much has happened and very little of it has been good news.

In tough times it is easy to feel down and hopeless. It is easy to feel like everything is out of our control and we can't do anything because everything sucks.

    That simply isn't true.

We can do plenty for ourselves, the people we love and our country. For today let's take note of some delightful things in my world that happened in January.

This week on the podcast I am doing a deep dive into CARE Club. I share not only what it is, but why I created it just for you in this time in history.

EP 255: Healing Your Inner Teenager Jan 23, 2025
    Show notes

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-255

What comes to mind when I say the words "teenage girl"? Some common ones I hear are:

    Mean.

    Catty.

    Overly emotional.

    Overly sexy.

    Scary.

Is this the real story about teen girls or something else?

What were YOU like as a teenager?

This week on the podcast I am sharing my conversation with author Chelsey Goodan.

Chelsey Goodan is the author of the USA Today national bestseller, UNDERESTIMATED: The Wisdom and Power of Teenage Girls, which has been endorsed by Oprah Daily, saying: "If you have a teenage girl in your life, you need to read this."

Chelsey has been an academic tutor, mentor, and empowerment coach to teenagers for 16 years and serves as the Mentorship Director of DemocraShe, which supports and guides girls from underserved communities into leadership roles.

She speaks regularly to audiences about gender justice, conducts workshops, and as a keynote speaker, she teaches communication strategies that create psychological safety for everyone from teenage girls to CEOs.

Featured on The Today Show with Hoda & Jenna, NBC News Daily, Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, and in TIME Magazine, Chelsey's thought leadership explores humanity's potential for authenticity, liberation, and empowerment.

This week on the podcast I am sharing my conversation with fellow coach, Ivana Robinson.

Ivana Robinson is a certified Life & Leadership Coach and reformed corporate ladder climber who helps women disillusioned with the status quo to abandon the rulebook, liberate themselves from expectations, and prioritize their desires without guilt.

Through her email list and social media accounts, Ivana serves thousands of people per week, encouraging her audience to feel the fear and do the damn thing anyway. Ivana's inspiring & rebellious journey helps audiences realize that bravery and confidence are already inside of them.

Ivana's favorite form of self-care is saying no, but two things she'll never turn down: an afternoon nap or a Beyoncé concert.

This conversation with Ivana reignited my interest in living abroad. Ivana figured it out and now lives in Mexico.

Have you ever dreamt of living abroad?

Ivana also hosts retreats that sound dreamy. I used to host retreats. Would you be interested in going on a retreat hosted by me?

EP 253: Creating a More Inclusive World Jan 10, 2025

In this week's podcast episode I am sharing my interview with Tiffany Yu.

Tiffany Yu is the CEO & Founder of Diversability, a 3x TEDx speaker, and the author of The Anti-Ableist Manifesto: Smashing Stereotypes, Forging Change, and Building a Disability-Inclusive World.

Tiffany started her career at Goldman Sachs before becoming a speaker and writer on disability.

At the age of 9, Tiffany became disabled as a result of a car accident that also took the life of her father.

Inspired by the viral The Anti-Ableism Series on TikTok, The Anti-Ableist Manifesto is Diversability founder Tiffany Yu's revelatory examination of disability for any ally to go beyond mere awareness to be an active anti-ableist and help form a more equitable society for all.

Not going to lie, I devoured this book! After spending countless hours advocating for my daughter over the years, especially in the education system, this was a perfect guidebook to helping non disabled people advocate for inclusion, access and belonging for all students.

If you know someone who has had to advocate for themselves or a family member in the health, education or employment systems, definitely share this book. If you'd like to learn how to be an ally to the disabled community, definitely read this book.

Laura Mayes is an Emmy-winning writer, senior director of Unlocking Us with Brené Brown and the Dare to Lead podcast, VP of Influencer Programming and Relations Everyday Health Group's Pregnancy & Parenting division, home to Mom 2.0, What to Expect and BabyCenter, a co-founder of the Mom 2.0 and the Mom 2.0 Summit, and a partner in Altitude Summit.

Over the last 25 years, she has created, developed and produced live events and shows, including industry conferences, brand events, book and product launches, podcasts, awards shows, the curation of national art exhibits and nationwide programs for women in media.

Not going to lie, I tried really hard not to fangirl over Laura during this interview because she is The Coolest. She's one of the original women who made a name for herself on the Internet through early blogging.

I have been fascinated with that group of women since I first learned about them in 2010. Absolute pioneers in new technology, influencer marketing and making a name for oneself as a woman on the internet.

Plus she's Sister Brené's pal and podcast producer. 🤯🤩 Don't worry, I think I kept it together when I inevitably brought up BB in our conversation. Then she told me Brené Brown was going to be the keynote speaker at Mom2 and I had a moment. Like a pause. A be cool, but you might have yelped a little bit moment.

In this week's podcast episode I am sharing my interview with author Lori Sugarman-Li.

Lori believes deeply in the power of families and is a passionate voice in the cultural shift aiming to articulate the value and visibility of unpaid work. Her career as a Communications Strategist, combined with a decade devoted to full-time care of her family, community, and children's charities worldwide, served as the inspirational backdrop for her professional relaunch as a Coach, Speaker, and Author.

Lori is dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations within families, encouraging them to contemplate how they care for one another and their shared space.

Lori, her husband, and two sons are Canadian-born and live steps from Lake Michigan in Chicago.

Please go see the sneak peek of this delightful story.

Our Home is about the power of families, their beautiful but unending work, and the special connection between family members who share a space.

"A tip of the hat to all of the invisible labor that happens […] making little ones aware of what their parents do and reminding parents to watch for those bucket-filling moments of delight with their children." —School Library Journal

I want everyone to give Lori's book to the families in your life this holiday season.

    Show notes

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-250

How are you? Please hit reply and tell me or call a pal. We need community now more than ever.

If you are up to it, I would appreciate your thoughts on my 2025 offerings survey. This is your chance to tell me how I can best serve you in 2025.

These last two weeks I have been equal parts being in community with others and resting. The gratitude I feel for my support people is infinite. Knowing I am a support person for many is something I take very seriously. We are better together and I love that my work is alongside others wanting to make the world more equitable, fair and just.

The big question of how do I/we keep working towards a better future keeps coming up. I know one answer is to not quit.

    Show notes

    Show notes: https://www.tamihackbarth.com/blog/episode-247

In this week's podcast I am excited to share my thoughts on another book I recently read The Plan: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius by Kendra Adachi.

I am a huge fan of Kendra's podcast, books and how she is able to break down problems into manageable pieces. I never miss an episode so when the opportunity to be part of her book launch came up, I jumped right in.

Executive functioning skills are something that I have struggled with my whole life. I am so glad I have women to help me learn time and project management while acknowledging the realities of being a woman, a mom, a business owner, a teacher all while having an ADHD brain.
