This episode is for anyone curious to hear the other angle of an origin story.
It’s our wedding anniversary! This week, my husband Jeff and I celebrate 13 years of marriage, and so I thought it would be fun to have him on the show to share HIS side of our relationship’s origins. This is something I’ve talked and written about for years, but (surprise!) he has a different take.
This week I want YOU to talk a partner or best friend about your relationship’s origin story. Ask, “Where did we begin?” and “What do you remember about that time?” and “Tell me your version.”
Even if you think you know what someone is going to say about your relationship’s origin, you might be surprised at what comes up.

I am proud to partner on this bonus episode with EBY, a seamless underwear membership co-founded by actress and entrepreneur Sofia Vergara and my guest today, entrepreneur Renata Black.
In our conversation, Renata shares her passion about giving our everyday choices (like buying underwear) real power, and explains how a portion of every purchase of EBY panties or bras becomes part of their Microfinance program, empowering women around the globe with small loans.
We also talk about underwear in general (ha!) and the soft, seamless technology that keeps EBY pieces in place all day.
EBY is giving listeners 20% off their purchase or membership with code THINGS20.

This episode is for anyone looking for their next great book to read.
It’s time for another episode about the best books we’ve read lately! This time I'm joined by Christine Koh, an author, speaker, blogger, podcaster, designer, and scientist. Yes, Dr. Christine Koh is all of those things, and on this episode she is sharing books that speak to the Asian American experience AND her newfound love of the romance genre.
I'm sharing two books about cults, what I'm reading before I fall asleep at night, and the novel that took me totally by surprise.
So there is a LOT packed into this conversation.

This episode is for anyone who struggles with her inner "good girl."
I read Break the Good Girl Myth: How To Dismantle Outdated Rules, Unleash Your Power, and Design a More Purposeful Life by Majo Molfino this summer and the whole idea resonated with me: identifying as a good girl, wanting to be seen as a good girl, and simultaneously wanting to get out of that trap.
Even at 40-something, I am still dismantling these parts of my identity, and I could see myself - and so many of my friends - in the five different types of “good girls” that Majo writes about.
In our conversation, Majo shares a little more about “Breaking your good girl myth MEANS” and I share the parts of me that still sees myself a good girl, where that feels healthy and where that feels woefully outdated.

Miss Freddy is back!
Last year’s Ep 41: 10 Tips to organize your digital photos with professional photo organizer Miss Freddy was so popular that I couldn't wait to have Casey (aka Miss Freddy) back on the show for more ideas about what to do with all the photos we’re drowning in.
This time we’re focusing on family yearbooks, but Miss Freddy’s advice applies to any sort of digital photo book you want to create. She’s sharing the steps, the tools, and the mindset to create an album you’ll be so happy to have.

Myquillyn Smith (aka The Nester) has influenced the way I think about decorating my home for years, through her blog, social media, and books. Her latest book Welcome Home is about decorating your home for the seasons without buying a bunch of expensive decor, and how you can signal the natural cycle of the year using scents and textures and sound. These concepts apply even when you live somewhere where the temperature doesn't change much!
Myquillyn gives me a little pep talk about creating a home that is the background for family memories, and she reveals a fairly genius way to decorate for the holidays that removes a bulk of the stress. (Why hadn't I thought of this before??)

This episode is part pep talk, part permission, and part mindfulness around the nuance and energy of friendship. I'm sharing about loneliness, the benefit to shallow friends, the necessity of friends who make you talk, and the call to look closer at old friendships (and whether or not they're all serving you).

This episode is for anyone who needs a little help with their attitude and self-talk right now.
I know I beat this drum regularly, but I really believe that the way we speak to ourselves shapes the way we move in the world. And these days, my self-talk can be all over the place. On this episode, I’m sharing my own personal current mantras and affirmations, and also just talking about how these things can work in your life. (Hint: it’s not magic. It’s brain science.)
But the best part of this episode is hearing from the listeners who sent in THEIR own mantras. So many great words out there.

This episode is for anyone interested in raising their hand.
Jenna Arnold is an educator, entrepreneur, activist and mother who lives in New York City, and her new book is Raising Our Hands: How White Women Can Stop Avoiding Hard Conversations, Start Accepting Responsibility, and Find Our Place on the New Front Lines.
In this BONUS episode, Jenna and I talk through a few of the reasons white women statistically stay silent about important issues: perfection, performance, and peacekeeping.
I really liked Jenna's book and am excited to share this conversation with you.
