One of the most personal and meaningful projects I’ve ever made was my podcast series called The Secret Tapes. It's a series of interviews I did with the people I write about in my book Share Your Stuff. I’ll Go First.
The Secret Tapes were released in January solely to people who preordered SYSIGF. But now the Secret Tapes are a part of Secret Stuff, the private podcast I launched on Patreon. All eleven episodes of conversation and interviews are available as part of the Secret Stuff membership. This BONUS episode is a snippet of the Secret Tapes conversation I had with my parents. Let's just say that their recollections of everything I wrote about in SYSIGF are slightly different.
If you enjoy this snippet and want to hear the whole thing (along with all ten of the other conversations), sign up for Secret Stuff now!
The Secret Tapes are now part of SECRET STUFF. Don't miss out.

Favorite Things! Again!
I'm sharing my current favorites: including home stuff, beauty products, travel outfits, what's helping me sleep, a new bra obsession, and what I can't stop giving as a gift.
In case you hadn't noticed, I moved the frequency of the Favorite Things (Right Now) episodes up from every twenty episodes to every TEN. This was in direct reaction to your feedback on the listener survey, so thank you for listening, sharing, and making this show better all the time. And remember, the Favorite Things episodes are meant to inspire YOU to share YOUR favorite things (doesn't have to be 10). Post on social media, text a friend, start a great conversation over a meal. Share your stuff. (Literally.)

The fabulous Anne Bogel of What Should I Read Next? returns to the show to talk about her 2021 Summer Reading Guide and the best books she’s read lately.
Anne Bogel (aka Modern Mrs. Darcy) is one of my favorite people to talk books and reading with, and I look forward to her annual Summer Reading Guide each year. We talk about how long it takes her to make the guide, and what her reading life looks like after she’s done.
I also share the best things I’ve read lately (thank goodness my reading life is mostly back to normal!) and of course I kick off the show with a little announcement about my latest project Secret Stuff.

When I stumble across someone on the internet who is sharing themselves in a very vulnerable or very unique way, I take notice.
And this is what happened when I found Danielle and Adam of Marriage and Martinis. Their podcast goes ALL THE WAY there. They talk about their relationship and also just LIFE in a way that I don’t think I’ve heard anywhere else.
In this episode, I talk with Danielle about the Marriage and Martinis origin story, why they've chosen to share their relationship in such an open way, and how their friends, family, and community have responded to their honesty. FULL SHOW NOTES HERE Listen to Marriage and Martinis

One of the things we’ve never discussed on this show is MONEY. Even though I know it’s one of the topics that we wish people spoke more openly about.
A lot of us are flying pretty blind in our money situation. Are we making enough? Are we saving enough? Are we spending or investing it right? How much money could I *actually* make if I started a side hustle?
A year of the pandemic has made a lot people rethink their careers, and there’s a lot of interest in going full time freelance, pursuing a passion, or monetizing a creative pursuit.
My guest for this episode is Katelyn Magnuson, aka The Freelance CFO, and she’s here to give us 10 Tips for Going Freelance. We start with some basics, but i’ve been in the freelance game for over a decade, and I still learned a lot in this conversation.

Now THIS is a topic I've been wanting to cover for a long time.
Because whenever I do a social media challenge (like the currently running #OneDayMay) and I encourage people to post a selfie (as I often do), I scroll through tons of posts where women are APOLOGIZING for their self-portrait in the caption.
There are many reasons both personal and cultural that we feel extra vulnerable about taking and sharing selfies on social media, but in this episode I’m talking about the three most common reasons I see:
We’re unhappy with the way we look
We feel like selfies are indulgent, narcissistic, and annoying
We don’t mind being in photos, but we wish someone else was taking them
I look at selfies from all kinds of angles in this episode, hoping that it leads away from selfie shame and into selfie empowerment. But I also want to talk about why we judge other people’s selfies, and my unpopular opinion about oversharing.

Author Nora Zelevansky is my the very first novelist I've ever had on 10 Things To Tell You!
We're discussing her new book (out May 11) Competitive Grieving, a darkly comic novel about the dynamics of friendship following loss. Competitive Grieving is inspired by true events in Nora's life, and we talk about the themes and and relatability of her fictionalized version.
Nora was one of the first friends I ever made in Los Angeles, and she's also one of the co-founders of the original book club I talk about so often. We have been friends, confidants, and cheerleaders for one another for almost two decades and I am so happy to welcome her to the show. Competitive Grieving is Nora Zelevansky's third novel and this is a spoiler-free conversation.

When I first found Kate Kennedy's podcast Be There in Five, I just wanted Taylor Swift analysis. But I stayed for her series on Mommy Bloggers. Then I couldn't get enough of her pop culture commentary, hilarious tangents, and well-researched episodes about everything I wanted to talk about (that other people weren't talking about).
I also texted every podcast friend I have to ask, "Have you seen what Kate Kennedy is doing?" Because her show was defying all the rules. Be There in Five's episodes are often 2+ hours long, and mostly solo. It was empowering to watch a woman unapologetically take up so much space with her words and ideas and air time. AND be smart and funny on top of it.
So I was beyond excited to have this conversation with Kate about leaning into your skillset, finding your own personal "football game," and what "being authentic" means when you're one person online and another with your family.
