    Obesity currently affects four out of 10 Americans, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). • Four million people die each year as a result of obesity, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
    • Worldwide, more than 1 billion people have obesity—650 million adults, 340 million adolescents and 39 million children, according to WHO.
    • The World Obesity Federation predicts that by 2030, one in five women and one in seven men will have obesity.
    • The worldwide obesity rate has nearly doubled since 1980.

    Houston, we have a problem: My take on Crime Podcasts Jul 07, 2023
    Show notes

    You are what you eat,
    You are what you hear and see,
    Filling yourself with junk isn't healthy.
    Don't be blinded by this toxic society.
    Take control of what goes into your body,
    Because you may not live to be ninety.
    Choose wisely,
    Or you'll die from being a dummy.
    This is a warning.

    On Aging - Maya Angelou Jun 30, 2023
    Show notes

    On Aging, By: Maya Angelou
    When you see me sitting quietly,
    Like a sack left on the shelf,
    Don’t think I need your chattering.
    I’m listening to myself.
    Hold! Stop! Don’t pity me!
    Hold! Stop your sympathy!
    Understanding if you got it,
    Otherwise I’ll do without it!
    When my bones are stiff and aching,
    And my feet won’t climb the stair,
    I will only ask one favor:
    Don’t bring me no rocking chair.
    When you see me walking, stumbling,
    Don’t study and get it wrong.
    ‘Cause tired don’t mean lazy
    And every goodbye ain’t gone.
    I’m the same person I was back then,
    A little less hair, a little less chin,
    A lot less lungs and much less wind.
    But ain’t I lucky I can still breathe in.

    Don't Quit - M. Tarun Prasad Jun 23, 2023
    Show notes

    Don't Quit, By: M. Tarun Prasad
    When times are hard, you might stop for a bit,
    But it's not over until the moment you quit.
    On a river's bridge, failures are the planks;
    Take one step at a time until you reach its banks.
    Don't give up on your dreams; chase them instead;
    You will find, one morning, as you wake up from bed,
    That you are the person about whom you dreamed,
    And you can reach great heights, impossible though it seemed.
    When things go wrong and your back is to the wall,
    Try to stand up; no more can you fall.
    Life is full of ups and downs; take them in your stride.
    You will discover your little star hidden inside.

    "Yoga" Pants (Those smelly see-through leggings you wear!) Jun 23, 2023
    Show notes

    Yes, they carry bad odors! Nasty, fishy, musty, funky lycra translucent inappropriate leggings that shows your g-string, v-shape, thong or bikini panties. Yuck.

    Poem: Kinky

    Another form of hosiery,
    That contours to your panties,
    Reveals if you're wearing a G-string,
    Exposes your cottage cheese,
    And breeds bacteria and yeast.
    How nasty can you be?
    Now some women refuse to buy jeans,
    Blame Lululemon.
    Of course, they were made by a dude.
    Should we start wearing swimwear to the gym too,
    Since lycra and nylon are comfortable.
    When will we stand for truth?
    Will nudity be banned in the United States?
    Not until men get tired of seeing buttocks, vulva prints and spanx.

    Roots - Juneteenth Poem/Song Jun 19, 2023
    Show notes

    On June 19, 1865, Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger, who had fought for the Union, led a force of soldiers to Galveston, Texas, to deliver a very important message: The war was finally over, the Union had won, and it now had the manpower to enforce the end of slavery. The announcement came two months after the effective conclusion of the Civil War, and even longer since President Abraham Lincoln had first signed the Emancipation Proclamation, but many enslaved Black people in Texas still weren't free, even after that day. Babylon Poem: The World is at a Steady Decline Jun 16, 2023
    Show notes

    Babylon is a place where the sinner repents,
    And the rebellious entices the backslidden.
    The truth is lying in the darkness,
    but it's no longer hiding.
    The dragon will be destroyed by the Lion.
    Slowly but surely, you'll begin to see,
    Signs and wonders from the heavenlies.
    Those with morals will have to endure pain,
    Until God decides to send Christ again.

    A Poison Tree - William Blake Jun 16, 2023
    Show notes

    A Poison Tree, By: William Blake
    I was angry with my friend;
    I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
    I was angry with my foe:
    I told it not, my wrath did grow.
    And I waterd it in fears,
    Night & morning with my tears:
    And I sunned it with smiles,
    And with soft deceitful wiles.
    And it grew both day and night.
    Till it bore an apple bright.
    And my foe beheld it shine,
    And he knew that it was mine.
    And into my garden stole,
    When the night had veild the pole;
    In the morning glad I see;
    My foe outstretched beneath the tree.

    As You Go Through Life - Ella Wheeler Wilcox Jun 09, 2023
    Show notes

    As You Go Through Life, By Ella Wheeler Wilcox

    Don't look for the flaws as you go through life;
    And even when you find them,
    It is wise and kind to be somewhat blind
    And look for the virtue behind them.
    For the cloudiest night has a hint of light
    Somewhere in its shadows hiding;
    It is better by far to hunt for a star,
    Than the spots on the sun abiding.
    The current of life runs ever away
    To the bosom of God's great ocean.
    Don't set your force 'gainst the river's course
    And think to alter its motion.
    Don't waste a curse on the universe--
    Remember it lived before you.
    Don't butt at the storm with your puny form,
    But bend and let it go o'er you.
    The world will never adjust itself
    To suit your whims to the letter.
    Some things must go wrong your whole life long,
    And the sooner you know it the better.
    It is folly to fight with the Infinite,
    And go under at last in the wrestle;
    The wiser man shapes into God's plan
    As water shapes into a vessel.
