Plus, we’re forever discussing the iconic AG catalog—the most treasured piece of literature to ever grace our mailboxes. Monster in the Mirror

Monster in the Mirror is a spinoff series by Straight White American Jesus – written and created by Lucas Kwong.

This series examines how narratives perfected in novels like Dracula and War of the Worlds, prototyped the conspiratorial blend of fact, fiction, and faith that has become “all the rage” on the contemporary American Right–in more ways than one.
With its millenarian fantasies of “taking America back for God,” U.S. Christian nationalism has received analysis as a spur to extremist violence, a political theology birthed in the Reagan era, and the latest iteration of an American preoccupation with manifest destiny. But the narrative of heroic white Christians rallying against a foreign and sexually ambiguous threat also finds precedent in an unexpected source: the vampires, mummies, and aliens of late Victorian fiction.

Personally: Toy Soldier – CBC

As a child, Alex Kurzem faced a choice: be killed or join the killers.

In the midst of the Second World War, he was separated from his family and taken in by a group of soldiers as one of their own. He was made a member of Hitler’s army – a toy soldier with his own rifle and miniature SS uniform.

But what the soldiers didn’t know and what no one would know for decades: he was a Jewish boy masquerading as a Nazi to save his life.

Alex lives with this false identity for so long, he no longer remembers who he was before – forgetting his parents’ faces, his birthday, his own name. But before he dies, Alex is determined to find the identity and family stolen from him during the Holocaust.

This is the story Alex would tell the world decades later, but doubts quickly took hold and wouldn’t let go. Could a story so unbelievable be true? Or is this a con to profit from the Holocaust? Eighty years on, is it possible to uncover who Alex really is?

Host Dan Goldberg unravels the true story.

Always the Last to Know

Hey! We are Ash and Katy, this is our podcast, Always the Last to Know! Growing up we were taught how to live in the world, everything was going fine…until literally, the entire world changed, thus making everything we had learned essentially obsolete. Needless to say, Mr. Feeny and Cory Matthews did not prepare us for social media takeovers, taxes, or making our way through an insane world where an entire generation is trauma bonded.

It feels like we missed entire lessons on things so the goal is to fill in the gaps of our education- from discussions on current laws to clones, from N.A.T.O to what’s hidden under melting glaciers, join us while we attempt to navigate our way through the world, figure out adulthood, and hopefully learn something new along the way!

Unlearned

This is a podcast all about deconstructing who we are and exploring who we are becoming.
