Whiskey and Rock was launched by D-Rock and JR in 2023. These whiskey enthusiasts not only love a great pour, but also love having conversations and sharing stories from the distilling industry and community.
So we covered the whiskey part. What about the rock?
Rock is all about how you enjoy your whiskey and the connections you make along your whiskey journey. For us, music and whiskey have been consistent threads of our friendship, and we hope this podcast will be a way to make new friends, build community and find out what else pairs well with whiskey.
D-Rock and JR invite you to join this community and VIP experience as they learn about the craft of distilling, meet some of the folks backstage, and of course, drink good whiskey.

Ever found yourself staring in the wine aisle at your local grocery store or sitting at a restaurant, totally clueless about which wine to choose? You know what you like when you taste it, but when it’s time to pick a bottle for your next dinner party or match it with a meal, you’re scanning labels, Googling wine pairings, and still second-guessing every choice.
But here’s the thing: You don’t need to be a sommelier to enjoy wine confidently. With the right knowledge and a little guidance to understand wine lingo and unlock your own palate, you’ll be able to order at a restaurant without asking for a recommendation or walk into a wine shop and pick a bottle to pair with a meal like a pro.
I’m your host, Kristi Mayfield, a certified sommelier who used to be the one staring at the shelf, swapping the bottle I chose for the one someone else recommended because I didn’t trust my own taste. But over the past 5 years, I’ve turned that confusion into expertise, teaching thousands of wine enthusiasts and professionals how to cut through the pretentiousness and complexity of wine so they can confidently choose and enjoy wines they love.
Each week on the podcast, we’ll break down wine into simple, easy-to-understand terms. From regions and styles to winemaking techniques and tasting tips, you’ll get insights from experts and industry pros to help you grab a glass and learn wine your way.
Each week, Cult Flav – aka Sarah and Bryn – goof, rant and hyperfixate our way through news, product reviews, questions from you(s?), and occasionally guest interviews…from around the world of home cooking.

Based in Portland, Oregon, they are the 4th generation stewards of this beloved classic, having authored its latest edition. As they create the next chapter of the Joy of Cooking and launch the Joy of Cooking Podcast, the Rombauer family continues to inspire and nourish with every conversation. Each week, John & Megan set the table with their co-host and friend Shannon Larson and their revolving guest of home cooks, cookbook authors, food entrepreneurs, and chefs- to discuss cherished & reviled Joy recipes, kitchen victories & miseries, and most importantly, what they are all cooking and eating.
