Life in Full Frame – Family Photography Education

Here, we talk about all things family photography, running a creative business + mindset with a little bit of motherhood sprinkled in to keep things real! After a decade in the photography industry, I've learned there are a lot of rules. While some of those rules can be helpful, I’ve learned that we come into the fullest expression of who we are as artists when we can let go of these rules, expectations + trying to fit into the aesthetic that someone else has deemed as beautiful + worthy. What the world actually needs is for you to create what you were created to create, so let's get to it! Read More

When There Are No Words

Conversations with artists exploring grief and hope in their work.

Following the release of Michael J Tinker's own album exploring loss and hope ('When There Are No Words' 2023) he decided to embark on this new podcast interviewing other artists who have looked at similar themes. Chatting to Christian authors, songwriters and visual artists Michael discusses what draws them to this difficult topic, how they navigate stewarding both their own story and other people's, and how they seek to honestly portray the Christian journey through this life to eternity. And despite (or maybe because of) the difficult subject, these are truly uplifting conversations.

In the first series Michael interviews author Doug McKelvey ('Every Moment Holy'), author and songwriter Andrew Peterson (The Wingfeather Saga, 'Is He Worthy?', The Burning Edge of Dawn), painter Ally Gordon (Morphe Arts, 'Why Art Matters'), author Hannah Hess (Dark Star), songwriter Sara Groves (Floodplains), writer and artist Sophie Killingley ('Draw Near') and author and painter Jamin Still (who's candle image you can see on the album cover).

There will be lots of book giveaways as well as special 10ofthose.com discount codes for listeners.

This podcast is sponsored by 10ofthose. Their vision is to help everyone in the church to read books that excite them about Jesus and to give away books that point others to Him.

Art Smart

Art is for everyone, but sometimes, the way we talk about art doesn't make sense to anyone. Art Smart breaks through the confusing artspeak to help everyone understand and enjoy art a little bit more. Every episode is short and to the point giving you a quick overview of the topic in just a few minutes.  In Season 1, Art Smart focused on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. The elements of art are the building blocks of art and the principles of design focus on how artists arrange those building blocks. Understanding the Elements and Principles can help you become a better creator whether you aspire to be the next Leonardo da Vinci, or you just want your family photos to look good on social media.  For Season 2, Art Smart is focusing on different eras and movements in art. What is the difference between modern and post-modern? How were the Post-Impressionists and Impressionists similar and different? Learn all about these and other movements in season 2. Each episode will cover a movement or era in broad strokes, then give you five specific artists/works to look at for a better understanding. Read More
