Bloody Murder – A True Crime Podcast

Nominated for 4 Australian Podcast Awards, including 2019 Best Independent True Crime. As avid listeners of true crime podcasts they aim to add to the conversation by talking about murders that haven't been done to death on other shows. Their humour comes from some rather unusual places but never at the expense of the victims or their families.

Blood and Truth

Tommy Zeigler has been on death row for 42 years and for more than half that time, he’s been trying to convince the state of Florida to allow for DNA tests that might help exonerate him. But the state continually refuses. About 20 other men are in a similar situation, imprisoned in Florida since the 1970s or ’80s and arguing that it’s inherently unfair to deny them access to 21st century science. Leonora LaPeter Anton, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, and photographer Cherie Diez have followed the case for years. In 2018, they traveled around Florida and into Georgia to interview dozens of people, some involved in the police work or prosecution, others who believe in Zeigler’s innocence.

Murderville

Harris County, Texas, has sent more people to death row than any jurisdiction in the nation. Among them is Charles Raby. He confessed to the grisly murder of an elderly woman in Houston in 1992. But the evidence tells a different story — one in which the state went after the wrong man. In the second season of Murderville, Intercept reporters Liliana Segura and Jordan Smith explore faulty forensics, the fallibility of memory, and a system ill-equipped to acknowledge its mistakes.
