NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING

NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING is a new show about how difficult – but not impossible – it is to make something actually good in Hollywood. Join LAist and The Black List each week as we put your favorite actors, directors, and writers through the wringer to see if they’ve got what it takes to make a successful movie or TV show – with, of course, an escalating series of helpful studio executive notes. In the process, we’ll poke fun at the industry we know and love, and see if famed screenwriter William Goldman was right when he said, “Nobody knows anything.”

NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING is hosted by Franklin Leonard, founder and CEO of The Black List, a platform that helps Hollywood discover great scripts. The show is a production of The Black List and LAist Studios, in partnership with The Ankler. New episodes drop weekly on Tuesdays and can also be heard on LAist 89.3 on weekends.

Who Was Prince?

Who Was Prince? is the ultimate look at the greatest and most mysterious musician of the modern era. Prince was a genius singer, songwriter, guitarist, and performer but how did he create so much music, what was he like as a person, what was his childhood like? This eight episode series is built on interviews with people who were close to him—people who played in his bands, managed his career, engineered his music, or dated him. We explore his multiple personalities, his love of basketball, his insane work ethic, his ability to play almost every instrument, his love of clothes, his turbulent childhood where he left his parents, his romantic life, his baby who died after a few days, and his tragic end. We hear stories about Prince and Liz Taylor, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, and many more. This is a deep look inside the life of an unforgettable man. Read More

Parks

A podcast on the truth about the creation of U.S. National Parks, retold by Indigenous voices. Parks is about the Indigenous people who lived, hunted, and created communities on U.S. public lands, living reciprocally with nature for centuries before settler-colonists arrived. It’s about the racism, violence, and lies perpetrated by colonizers and the federal government as they dispossessed land from Native people not long ago. On this podcast, you'll hear Indigenous perspectives on what’s happening to the land now, and what they hope for tomorrow. Parks asks you to take a new look at our beloved natural spaces — including their conflicted pasts and their uncertain futures. Read More

We’re Alive

We're Alive is an award-winning audio drama that follows a group of Survivors in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles now ruled by the "Infected."

It begins with “A Story of Survival” which spans from Chapters 1-48. Our survivors band together, fortify a safe haven known as the Tower, and discover that the Infected are far from the biggest threat they will have to face.

The adventure continues with:

“Lockdown” - A small group of inmates and prison guards are trapped in the T-block at Twin Towers Jail. They are forced to work together and find a way to escape while the rest of the world ends around them.

“Goldrush” - Set 17 years after the main events of “A Story of Survival”, this is a recollection story that describes the efforts of the four Soldiers as they attempt a side mission to retrieve a suspected stash of gold bullion.

"Scout's Honor" (on it's own feed!) - Adventure Scouts stranded on Catalina Island off the coast of California must use their wits and teamwork to survive during Outbreak.

And “We’re Alive: Descendants," which follows the children of the Survivors as they navigate a dangerous new world.

The story of survival continues; the fight is not over.

18 years after the Outbreak, the world is starting to re-organize and rebuild, but many different forms of humanity are still struggling to survive in the aftermath. Nicholas Tink grew up in the shadow of his father. Little does he know that deep in the places where infected dwell, another descendant lies waiting.
