Episode 67: New Jersey Ape Man

For a ninth year, the Knife Nuts are back! Well at least three of them are, as Jake was busy being Jake. Levon, Dave, and Brian catch up with each other, including Brian’s failed move to Alabama and the renovation of the Sharp By Design shop. Also on the table are the ways in which the current knife industry has reduced our collective interest, be it rising MSRP’s, ubiquitous axis-lock clones, and the complete enshittification of Instagram as a means to connect with other knife collectors. We also get a look behind the scenes of the upcoming Lehigh Valley Knife Show.

Knife Nuts Podcast Episode 65: Dead By Design

The Knife Nuts Podcast (minus Jake) is back for a pre-pre-Blade Show 2024 episode. With Blade looming on the horizon, and a sizeable break between episodes (expect nothing less from us), we go over some reason acquisitions, the three(!) production knives Brian has previewed or released since our last episode, discuss the Lehigh Valley Knife Show (which Levon is now a partial owner of), and finally touch on the recent Artisan Cutlery steel scandal. As always, thanks for sticking with us and thank you for listening!

Episode 64: More Than Just A Nub ft. Shawn Ashmore (Peace Neighbor)

It’s 2024, and the Knife Nuts Podcast miraculously makes it into a new year! In this episode, the Knife Nuts are joined by Shawn Ashmore,. an actor, knife enthusiast, and founder of the EDC tool company Peace Neighbor. While you may recognize him from the long running ABC series “The Rookie”, or Amazon’s “The Boys”, Shawn is a dyed in the wool knife enthusiast. His collection is exactly what you would expect from someone who took the time to learn about knives before buying. And his new EDC tool company, Peace Neighbor is no vanity project either; their first tool, the Archon, has been a thorough success and Shawn details all of the thought and refinement behind a seemingly simple little prybar. We discuss how he got into knives, his learning process, and where he is looking to take Peace Neighbor. It’s refreshing to hear someone so enthusiastic about this hobby, a stark contrast to the jaded Knife Nuts grumps.

Check out Peace Neighbor and Shawn’s current show, The Rookie!

The Knife Nuts aren’t dead yet! Levon, Dave, Brian, and Jake are back and discuss a series of topics. including why the James Brand’s approach to marketing is so successful when seemingly every knife enthusiast despises them, the unfortunate closure of the Ontario Knife Company and what it means. We also check in with how things are in Sharp By Design land, and discuss the most recent KNP edition knife, the Scorpion themed Null Knives Voodoo (which will be given away soon!).
