The Fed just jacked up rates for the first time since 2023 because apparently inflation didn't get the "please calm down" memo — and they're already teasing round two. Meanwhile the Trump administration yanked, froze, or straight-up ghosted $177 billion in federal grants, and somehow every single state got hit, including whatever red states were cheering the loudest.

Then Congress remembered it has a job! The House voted — for the THIRD time — to tell Trump to knock off the war in Iran, because apparently the first two votes were just for funsies. And Thomas Massie sent "eight articles of impeachment" to Pete Hegseth's face, which sent Mike Johnson running for the exits and cancelling votes till after the midterms. We see you, Mike.

Also: Kash Patel won't say if he's sending FBI agents to your polling place (cool cool cool, very normal), the Senate torched the Clarity Act, and the Kennedy Center board slammed the doors shut right after a judge told Trump he can't slap his name on the building. Tech leaders are out here casually mentioning there's a ten percent chance AI wipes out humanity — and then going right back to their keynote like they didn't just say that out loud. Ten percent! We don't like those odds on a weather app, let alone the entire human race. We're breaking down why the people building the thing are the same ones warning us about the thing, and what that says about, well, everything.

Then we head to Ireland, where Trump decided neutrality is for suckers and called a united Ireland "fantastic" — tossing out decades of careful White House diplomacy like it was a room service menu. We'll tell you why that word choice is doing a LOT of heavy lifting and who's scrambling to clean it up.

And finally, we're sitting with a federal court ruling that says there's no constitutional right to truthful information from officials during a public health crisis. Let that sink in. We need to talk about that emergency slide popping on the Qatari "gift" plane right before Trump's big convention entrance — sign, warning, or the universe's best joke this week? We're saying all three.

Then it's "Trump-a-looza" night one: mocking Paxton, Tim Scott's full fit-and-prayer combo, and vibes we can only describe as "unhinged." Plus that $5,000-for-every-adult offer — but only after the midterms, and only if the GOP keeps Congress, because nothing says no strings attached like a very specific string. Funny how the war in Iran's also wrapping up "immediately after" the midterms. Those midterms doing a lot of magic.

Oh, and the Census Bureau wants to stop counting undocumented immigrants for 2030 — the people whose whole job is counting people, floating a plan to not count people. We close it out sitting with an Anthropic researcher quitting over AI safety fears, while another says there's better than a ten percent chance AI could kill us all within a decade. Trump's out here bragging about his billion-dollar super PAC war chest like it's a birthday card from Grandma — "this is my money," he says, and he's expecting to have some "left over" after tossing a few crumbs to Republican campaigns. We're breaking down the math on that one, and trust us, it ain't mathing.

Then we head to In-N-Out, where a college kid grabbed a spatula and dove through the drive-thru window like he's auditioning for a superhero movie nobody asked for — protecting workers and customers from a woman losing it inside. We salute the spatula. The spatula is the real MVP.

We also need to have a conversation about why grown adults are out here scared of Hasan Piker. We're unpacking that fear, because something about a guy talking politics on Twitch has half of cable news shaking in their loafers.

Y'all, we are exhausted and it's not even Friday yet. We got a postal whistleblower screaming "catastrophic failure" about mail voting right before the midterms — cool cool cool, love that for us. We got Commerce quietly deleting the words "no political interference" from its own science policy, like removing the smoke detector because you're planning a fire. We're calling airstrikes on Iran "large and powerful" like it's a wrestling entrance, and somehow that same war is now jacking up the price of money worldwide — we didn't even know war had a war tax on top of the war.

Then there's Gregory Bovino, tiniest racist to ever run Border Patrol, who apparently retired mid-investigation like he had somewhere better to be. Measles killed two people in Pennsylvania and the CDC just... didn't count them? Umm, do they know that doesn't like, un-die people? Meanwhile the Supreme Court said sure, Trump, go 'head and build your ballroom, and the man himself is out here telling whole towns they'll be "backwards and poor" if they don't bow down to data centers. "Let data reign," he says — sir, we can't even get a text message to send half the time.

Milo Yiannopoulos Is Getting Deported? Girl, Even We're Shocked Something's Right Sep 03, 2026

Hold up — did DHS just accidentally do something correct? They're saying far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has "overstayed his welcome," and we are cackling, because that might be the first accurate sentence uttered under this administration. We'll take it! We'll frame it! We'll put it on a plaque!

Meanwhile, we're once again reminding everybody that there are exactly zero trans women in the WNBA — which hasn't stopped right-wing media from inventing some out of thin air, because facts have never gotten in the way of a good bigotry campaign. And speaking of bigotry, we're talking about a trans veteran who served her country and got rewarded with homelessness after the military just... didn't pay her severance. Cool, cool, very patriotic.

And then there's Florida, where a grand jury found that Governor Ron DeSantis's administration "misappropriated" $10 million in taxpayer money for political purposes — but somehow couldn't figure out who exactly did it well enough to press charges. Mmmm hmmm. Sure. Nobody did it. It just happened. Ten million dollars grew legs and walked into the Republican party of Florida, all by itself.

Y'all, we need a minute. First — our hearts are with Nepal, where at least 358 people are confirmed dead and over 1,300 are still missing after catastrophic flash floods along the Tibet border.

We've got a California man who apparently thought "guillotine in the truck bed" was a reasonable accessory for a drive near the U.S. Capitol. We're breaking down what we know and asking the obvious question: sir, what was the plan?

Then it's a full Trump buffet — he's siccing MAGA Inc. on the midterms with ads bragging about tax breaks and a "sealed" border, he's declaring "big victory" in a war with Iran that he says will "continue for as long as necessary" (so... not a victory, then?), and — we are not kidding — he's threatening to rename Lake Ontario "Lake America." We give this segment the energy it deserves.

We're also toasting a federal judge who struck down Texas's drag show ban and somehow made it a Dolly Parton tribute in the process — Dolly, we love you, keep protecting us from the courthouse. Meta's cutting an $18 billion check to 48 states for allegedly hooking kids on purpose, the EPA wants to stop telling the public about pollution permits near data centers (cool, cool, very normal), and we close it out with the story that should be leading every newscast: a Navy sailor's apparent suicide attempt is being met with disciplinary charges. "Support the troops," they said.

Y'all, we've got a lot to unpack this week. We're starting in Oregon, where the ACLU just rolled out their "No Federal Funding for Homeless Detention Camps" initiative to slam the brakes on a Trump backed plan — and we are here for it.

Then we get into something that made us do a double take: The New York Times reports Hakeem Jeffries, who could be the next Speaker of the House, sat down with Jared Kushner to talk about how Democrats and Trump could... cooperate. Cooperate. We have thoughts. Several of them. Not all of them are nice.

After that we're talking trade wars, because apparently we're in one now — with Canada. The Wall Street Journal is calling it "The Dumbest Trade War," and honestly? We can't argue with the headline. We break down how we got here and why it's, well, dumb.

And finally, we close out with a mystery that just keeps getting weirder: four years ago a crypto boss vanished without a trace. Now? His successor is missing too. We're connecting some dots, or at least trying to.

Okay, buckle up, because we have got a LOT to unpack this week and none of it is good, but ALL of it is going to make you scream-laugh into your steering wheel. Trump says he's got "a deal" with Canada on tariffs — girl, no you don't. Mark Carney said "substantial progress," which in diplomat-speak translates directly to "absolutely not, but I'm not trying to start anything today." We're calling it: Schrödinger's Trade Deal. It exists and doesn't exist simultaneously, depending entirely on how badly Trump needs a win on a given Tuesday.

Then Jon Ossoff stood up and said what we've been screaming since 2016 — calling out a "draft-dodging, crook president" who's dragged this country into a war he can't finish and doesn't understand. Senator, we see you, we hear you, please keep going.

We're also talking about the 35-year-old aide dubbed the "human printer" — because apparently loyalty in this administration means becoming a Xerox machine with a pulse. The stories coming out about her devotion are scary and strange, y'all.

And then — then — we get to Louisiana, where a trans couple was brutally attacked by a MOB in a public park bathroom, beaten, terrorized... and the police showed up and arrested THEM. The victims. We are LIVID.
