What Actually Causes Heart Disease? (The 5 Studies That Proved It) Sep 02, 2026
    Show notes

I'm Dr. Jeremy London, a board-certified cardiovascular surgeon in practice for over 25 years. In this episode I break down five landmark cardiovascular studies, the foundational research that did the heavy lifting to shape how we treat heart disease today.

But this isn't just a history lesson. I walk through each study the same way a physician does: how the study was designed, what it got right, what it got wrong, and whether it held up over time. That framework is the real takeaway, because in an age of overwhelming health information, knowing how to evaluate a study is more valuable than memorizing any single result.

We go from Framingham in 1948, which invented the very idea of a "risk factor," all the way to SPRINT in 2015, which changed the blood pressure number we all aim for. Along the way you'll see exactly how these studies stack on top of each other to answer the next question: Do risk factors exist? Which ones matter most? Is one of them actually causal? And how hard should we push when we treat them?

Medical science isn't stone tablets. It's guidance, and it should be pressure-tested constantly. Strong beliefs, loosely held.

The Biggest Health Mistakes Men Make (And Pay For Later) Jun 19, 2026
    Show notes

After decades working in men's health, one thing is clear: most of what determines how long and how well men live comes down to understanding the body, knowing where the risks are, and acting on them early enough to make a difference.

In this episode I cover risks across cardiovascular health, mental health, the screenings most men put off, and what building a genuine foundation for long term health actually looks like for you and the people around you.

11 Things I Wish They Taught Me in Med School (Heart Surgeon) Jun 09, 2026
    Show notes

After 25 years and thousands of open-heart surgeries, one truth stands above everything: I can save your life, but I can't live it for you. The decisions that determine how long and how well you live happen daily, at home, not in my operating room.

In this episode, cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London shares the 11 most important lessons his career in medicine has taught him, the ones that weren't in the textbooks, that med school got wrong, or that science has completely overturned since he qualified.

    What you'll learn:

    • Why atherosclerosis starts in children, and what that means for how you manage heart disease risk today

    • The truth about cholesterol, why LDL alone doesn't tell the full story (and the two markers most doctors never check: ApoB and Lp(a))

    • Why chronic inflammation is the silent driver behind nearly every major disease

    • The surprising fact that exercise is the most powerful supplement on the planet, and why sitting all day cancels your workout

    • Why it's never too late to start, the cardiovascular improvements possible in your 70s and 80s

    • Why food is medicine, and what ultra-processed food is quietly doing to your gut, brain, and heart

    • How sleep protects your cardiovascular system, hormones, and memory, and what happens when you cut it short

    • The link between mental health and physical health, including why loneliness is as dangerous as smoking

Why Time Speeds Up As You Age (And The 3 Things That Slow It Down) May 29, 2026
    Show notes

Most longevity conversations focus on two things: living longer (lifespan) and living healthier (healthspan). But there's a third pillar almost nobody talks about.

In this video, cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Jeremy London introduces timespan, the science of how you experience the time you have. Why does a year at 50 feel shorter than a summer at 7? Why do we reach our deathbeds feeling like we "just blinked"? And what can we actually do about it?

In this episode, Dr. London breaks down:

    • The Proportional Theory of Time, the mathematical reason why time speeds up as you age (and why you've already lived half your "felt" life by 17 or 18)

    • The neuroscience of episodic memory, how your brain decides what gets recorded in 4K vs. what gets skipped

    • The Reminiscence Bump: Why ages 15–25 feel richest in memory, and how to recreate that density

    • 3 levers to reclaim your time perception: Flow, Presence, and Purpose
