Horror is not a genre that Ollie even enjoys but it turns out that Nathan actually studied it in college. In 1996 Wes Craven relaunched the category with this near flawless slasher film. When we both saw this movie, neither of us predicted the clever ending and the only negative we found was that this movie spawned TOO many sequels.

It is impossible to think this movie was made in 1981. Nathan and Ollie dig into the best parts of this Spielberg epic and talk about what makes this character and story so good. This movie could be released today and be just as successful. They didn't have CGI so they had to try to make great characters and story without all of the toys.

Even though this film is a period piece set in an era that neither Nathan and myself existed, it captures the essential joy of being in High school that relates to our own experience in the early 90s. It artfully captures what was important at that time, like being obsessed with finding beer, discovering purpose, surviving hazing, learning what Martha Washington did for her husband George.

This is one of the few modern era movies we think is worthy of discussion and love. The background story on how this movie is made is intense, took more than 15 years and the results are remarkable. Nathan and myself saw this movie, in theater, when it came out and it was one of the most intense and incredible movie going experiences we can each remember. IF they finally manage to make another, we will be early in line to buy tickets.

Because of COVID we don't have that so Nathan & Ollie decided to take this week to talk about the 1993 cult classic, The Program. This movie holds up in some ways and is insanely dated in other ways. Ollie also asks the important question about potential casting of a remake... "Does the Rock have a younger brother??!?!?"

Just about EVERY character is extremely memorable, except the main one. Nathan and I give this film a thorough discussion and yet never get into the "Street value of this mountain".

This is a fantastic 2005 film that is worth watching at least once per year as it is a good reminder of one key fact!
