Girls Rewatch: Sex and the City

They say nothing lasts forever—dreams change, trends come and go—but rewatch podcasts never go out of style. Reporting live from One World Trade Center, Girls Rewatch Podcast is a comedy TV rewatch podcast where Brooklyn comedians Amelia Ritthaler (@ameliaplease) and Evan Lazarus (@elazie) revisit the iconic girl shows that shaped different generations of women. After rewatching HBO’s Girls and Comedy Central’s Broad City, they’re diving into the HBO series that started it all: Sex and the City.

Each week, Amelia and Evan recap episodes through a modern lens, comparing how dating, friendship, feminism, careers, and life in New York City look across generations. With comedian guests, cultural analysis, and plenty of chaotic personal stories, it’s the perfect comfort listen for anyone who loves funny, messy TV about women figuring it out.

    New episodes every Tuesday.

Sex and the City S2E17: “Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women” with XKYLAR Sep 22, 2026
    Show notes

Singer and guest with the most Carrie-Bradshaw-esque hair XKYLAR rounds out our LA journey chatting SATC S2E17, “Twenty-Something Girls vs. Thirty-Something Women.”

Our ladies inherit a haunted Hamptons summer share and try to answer the question: is a woman 10 years younger than you your enemy?

Samantha feels upstaged by her rolodex-stealing Kelly Cutrone assistant, Charlotte lies about her age and suffers the karmic consequence of crabs, Carrie mentors a try-hard virgin, and Big shows up at the Hamptons Hoedown with 26-year-old Natasha. Gasp!

We talk the binary of PR girls, breaking HIPAA, why you should never be chill around someone you admire, and the parallels of Big/ Natasha/ Carrie and Jack/ Lena/ Margaret (and Lorde.)

Plus: Amelia is Laurel Harris, Evan’s daughter Jitney is going to make a splash on Love Island, and XKYLAR’s quiet slut top.

Sex and the City S2E16: “Was It Good for You?” with Heather McDonald Sep 15, 2026
    Show notes

Stand-up comedian and host of Juicy Scoop podcast Heather McDonald is with us to talk all things incredible and disgusting in SATC S2E16, “Was It Good for You?”

The ladies are contemplating if they’re good in bed. Carrie dates a recovering alcoholic who gets addicted to dicking her down, Charlotte spins out when a guy falls asleep inside her, Samantha is rejected by two gay guys, and Miranda is on a journey with her salmon bed sheets.

We chat how Heather blames herself for the end of And Just Like That, that SATC is basically The Simpsons in predicting everyone will be pansexual, the rapey men of Heather’s generation and why it’s good to give out your number to a guy at the bar, and Charlotte’s tantric kindling-style handjob.

Plus, Heather knew the original Samatha, life-altering dating advice for Amelia, and Evan’s possible foray into dating a butch lesbian.

Sex and the City S2E15: “Shortcomings” with Hannah Pilkes Sep 08, 2026
    Show notes

Actress, comedian, and noted tall girl Hannah Pilkes (Netflix’s Leanne) has no shortage of opinions on SATC S2E15, “Shortcomings.”

It’s family week in New York! Miranda dates a used father she met at the gym, Charlotte’s recently divorced brother visits and Samantha reliably hooks up with him, and Carrie puts up with Justin Theroux finishing way too early to spend time with his hot family in their hot home.

We chat about the deeply empowering experience of pressing an elevator button, brainstorm how a naked Miranda could have better handled maiming a child, and wonder if it’s cool to hook up with your bestie’s siblings.

Plus, basketball basketball lesbians, shots are sacrilegious, and the thrill of your SO’s parents inviting you on the ski trip.

Sex and the City S2E14: “The F*ck Buddy” Sep 01, 2026
    Show notes

It’s just us girls this week to discuss breaking dating patterns, if we always date the same guy, and SATC S2E14, “The F*ck Buddy”

Carrie goes back to her vice, the literal Allstate Mayhem Man, Miranda is addicted to angry men, Samantha considers moving her solo play across the hall, and the ladies rip Charlotte a new one for her habit of anticipating the perfect man.

We worry for Inside Out’s Riley, talk the state of froyo in New York, decide which is the girliest of the five senses, and realize the common human experience is hearing your roommates have sex and doing nothing about it.

Plus, a re-enactment of how Skipper’s agent delivered the good news he’s back on the show, Carrie’s smallpox poncho, and how the best way to move furniture is when you’re emotionally dysregulated.

Sex and the City S2E13: “Games People Play” with Zach Noe Towers Aug 25, 2026
    Show notes

Comedian and inner peace expertZach Noe Towers joins us for some fun as we discuss SATC S2E13, “Games People Play.”

The ladies beg therapy-denier Carrie to get professional help after her Big Breakup, Miranda plays peek-a-boo with her cruising neighbor, Samantha goes sports mode and dates a Knicks fan, and Charlotte doesn’t really have a story this week.

We ponder if you have to play games for a relationship to work, reflect on how Samantha would have been pounded to smithereens this summer, realize how the best case-scenario for marriage is divorce (and the worst is murder,) and wish we could body-swap with our friends during their break-ups.

Plus, Evan crushes the Ella Emhoff Oura ring story, Zach is ready for a brain chip, and Amelia’s journey with EMDR.

Sex and the City S2E12: “La Douleur Exquise!” with Raina Morris Aug 18, 2026
    Show notes

TV writer Raina Morris (Emily in Paris) is here to discuss all things taboo for SATC S2E12, “La Douleur Exquise!”

It’s happening. Carrie is in the doorway with the riding crop and Big is telling her to not get Carried Away.

In even more iconic moments from this episode, Will Arnett defies gravity to give Miranda head in a cab, Stanford boldly acts on his sweet-as-pie underwear fetish, Charlotte gets Art of the Dealed in a shoe store, and Carrie finally faces her masochism fetish with her Big Beautiful Boyfriend.

We chat how, despite the haters, Carrie and Marnie won by being cringe, the concept of getting off at the birthplace of Huck Finn, how a cab is basically a threesome, and conspiracy theories on modern footwear.

Plus: Carrie’s continued Navy Seal torture tactics, Evan’s history with foot fetishes, Raina’s argument for embarrassing yourself as much as possible in front of a lover, and how this episode is the perfect encapsulation of the three themes for a young girl’s bedroom: heels, kiss mark, Eiffel Tower!

Follow @quakerraina and enjoy her beautiful archive while she abides by her Carried Away.

Sex and the City S2E11: “Evolution” with Charles Hsu Aug 11, 2026
    Show notes

Our LA journey continues with our New York friend, actor and comedian Charles Hsu! Crack open those science textbooks (if they allow them at your school) because we’re talking SATC S2E11, “Evolution.”

Miranda embarrasses herself at the gyno and discovers she has a lazy ovary, Samantha attempts to get the upper hand with the man who broke her heart (Blair Waldorf’s gay dad,) Carrie tries to secure a drawer in Big’s apartment, and Charlotte lives out Evan and Amelia’s shared dream of dating a gay guy.

We talk sparkle straights v. masc gays, Carrie’s apparent poor circulation, the internalized misogyny of judging another woman for freezing her eggs, and believing in life after love (Cher is such a survivor!)

Plus: our pitch for Zendaya’s next Big Movie, a pulse check on where scrunchies are in the culture, and Samantha’s millennial optimism.

    Show notes

Genius hosts of Sexy Unique Podcast Lara Marie Schoenhals and Carey O’Donnell are in the stu to chatSATC S2E10, “The Caste System.”

Carrie gets a purse instead of an “I love you” from Big and goes full brat mode at an UES party, Miranda is once again blamed for being successful when Steve can’t handle a suit gift, Samantha dates a probable human trafficker, and Charlotte forgets her Connecticut roots as she fucks a movie star in the back of a limo.

We host the great debate about the Judith Leiber purse, share our craving for a Serena Bush spinoff, mourn how Covid killed suit culture, and realize how JFK Jr. is the Madame Web of the SATC universe (his web connects them all.)

Plus: feuding with something you share a name with, Lara’s brush with an AIM predator & subsequent cyberbullying, step-mom propaganda, appreciation hour for Charlotte, and Evan gets one step closer to pierced ears.

Sex and the City S2E9: “Old Dogs, New Dicks” with Mina Le Jul 28, 2026
    Show notes

Can a man change? Yes, but not in the way you want!

Actress and upcoming elite podcaster Mina Le helps us come to this conclusion and more by chatting through SATC S2E9, “Old Dogs, New Dicks.”

Carrie hides her real concerns about Big’s wandering eye with a cigar metaphor, Charlotte naively thinks her guy is getting cut just for her, Miranda and Steve can’t align their sleep schedules, and Samantha is confronted with the sincerest form of flattery: an ex is paying homage to her in drag.

We discuss our personal journeys with checking out hotties (PSA- they are people too!) Carrie’s revolutionary Cookie Monster PJ set, the concept of a sex schedule, and the Sisyphean plight of trying to change a man in the way you want to.

Plus: Evan’s mouse trauma, our best Steve impressions, and nostalgia for T-Shirt slogans of the past.

Follow @gremlita for her next moves and hopefully an update on the 40-year-old casting call.

Another tragedy has befallen Girls Rewatch- Evan’s mic didn’t record so please forgive us for the sub-optimal listening experience! We continue to lol through it all.

Sex and the City S2E8: "The Man, the Myth, the Viagra” with Ali Macofsky Jul 21, 2026
    Show notes

Our West Coast reporting continues with LA Legend Ali Macofsky as we get into SATC S2E8, “The Man, the Myth, the Viagra.”

Samantha test-drives sex with an old coot, Carrie proves the haters right and ditches Miranda for Veal Night at Big’s, Steve is introduced in such a hot way, and Charlotte is sort of just there.

We catch up with Ali about how LA is sexless and the epicenter of looksmaxxing, reminisce over Evan’s first kiss (on the Amtrak!) and realize how working at a dry bar is the natural next step for a babysitter.

After surviving the Trump jump-scare and note how he subscribes to the pop star theory of never repeating hairstyles, we discuss how Frank Sinatra is Big’s Sabrina Carpenter, laud Miranda’s lotion acting, and decide on our age ranges for lovers.
