A bit of background on the current landscape. Here at K&J, it took us four years to reach 250K per month in revenue. Recently though, we launched a drilled-down business & it took us one month to reach the same milestone. What can be learned here? When you are ready to begin manifesting anything you want, this is part of the play book available to you. This episode is the second in our series on manifestation.

Continuing forward from the foundational video, where the three key laws were discussed, I introduce the necessary mindset habits that must be understood at a deeper level. Remember, you are literally programming your mind here.

One of the critical lessons that must be absorbed, and felt at a subconscious level, is acceptance. You have to accept that you are born with innate desires. Your purpose isn't to feel un-worthy of nice things or more money. We were born with unique gifts and in order to manifest our wishes, you must embrace the creative expression of those gifts. Be warned: This process takes calibration of your heart and mind.

You have to have the right mindset because your vision will manifest, whether you like it or not. This episode is all about getting the mindset right and tuning into that frequency .

33) My Coach Passed Away Jul 28, 2022

There's really no reason to "Learn the hard way" yourself. That simple concept is what led me to value coaching so much. Fast forward to Ian, my coach who passed away. This 23 year old was revered by executives twice his age so I hired this true visionary alien when I was 27, and even after five years, the knowledge he shared is extremely relevant.

He was so on target with his recommendations, I almost couldn't wrap my head around it at first. I was much more of a doer and this guy was absolutely brilliant; Out-of-this-world connections being made in front of my eyes. He was so big picture and profound.

One of the biggest pieces he left me with is the breakthrough of self-limiting beliefs. Basically, boundaries we set up in our minds, based on societal conditioning, our own view of ourselves, childhood experiences, parents, role models, and/or all of the above. It was so valuable to me, I'm repackaging his teaching and giving it to my own team to grow from. Learn exactly the type of person he was, and how I was able to see what I could not see as possible. As many illumined souls say, "Open up your pineal gland and with it, the seed of your spirit".

31) Why We Rejected An Acquisition in the Millions Apr 18, 2022

Every entrepreneur dreams of having a multi-million dollar exit and retiring to a beach, but it’s not that simple. A close confidante asked me, “If you had ONE chance to make an "exit", would this be the one? Are you willing to give up the last 5+ years of your life for this acquisition?" I provide my thinking behind our answer, no.

If you’re considering selling your company or your dream is to exit with your current company, think through a few practical concepts before romanticizing this "dream" scenario. Learn exactly how and why you would want to sell your business, what the aftermath will look like and source your reasoning deep from within before making a conclusive decision.

In this episode I explain and discuss Roll-ups, EBITDA, and multiples are discussed during the sharing of our first offer story. Since then we've had 5 offers but have declined them all.

Experience is invaluable inside a unique process like an acquisition. Both sides have to feel like they are winning. I'm going to walk through exactly why we said no and what some red flags were in the process - and how many of them could have been prevented by me and my team even though we didn't intentionally cause any.

Be careful of the allure of an acquisition. It's not as glamorous as it sounds. This episode is all about helping you be equipped if you're ever in a similar position.

Welcome back to the Zen Business Podcast! Let's talk about breathing. Are you doing it wrong?

Most don't assume there is a strategy to "breathing correctly", but there is a correct way to do it and it may take some learning. The way we apply our breathing vs. how we breathe due to habit can totally change your overall wellness in terms of storing energy, releasing stress, filtering out harmful germs, body temperature, and more. I recently went through a surgical procedure to fix a deviated septum to improve my breathing - I couldn't tell you enough how much it changed my breathing abilities.

Deep and controlled breathing is common knowledge for those who meditate, but we usually don't know the science that differentiates mouth breathing versus nose breathing and Energy Synthesis. Doing the research will lead you to find that nose breathing will filter the air you breathe in a healthier way, as well as release certain chemicals that benefit other parts of your body, such as lungs, bladder, digestive track, and more.

28) Become an Owner, Not a Renter Feb 28, 2022

Welcome back to the Zen Business Podcast! I have a question, what does "Ownership" mean to you?

It's a great word, isn't it? A few years back, someone explained it in the form of an analogy.

A group of friends decides to book a vacation and they stay at a beautiful Airbnb. Things get crazy, and the partying leaves the beautiful airbnb trashed. But you and your friends aren't really worried, since there's cleaners and you already paid a security deposit, so you can check out the next day unaffected by your actions. Whereas an owner of the airbnb cares deeply about their investment. They come to clean it up and repair the broken fixtures, clean the floors, and account for damages. Sure, the owner can party too! But they always take into account the wellbeing of their investment.

The Renter Mindset means you do not seek growth, but rather seek reward for bare minimums. You do everything to avoid accountability. Your solution to problems is to complain and blame everyone else but yourself. You seek instant gratification and could care less about an investment into the future. "If it's not in your line of sight, it's not your problem." This mindset almost always affects the ones around you, but you could care less.

In contrast to this, the Owner Mindset means you value individuality. Accountability and progressive thinking matters because you see the world for how it is - and care about life in the long run. The investment you put into your endeavors hold great value because of your patience and growth mindset lets you defer gratification instead of seeking out instant and temporary happiness. You know every action has a reaction, so you are thoughtful of everything you put into the world. You own this life, and you don't let hardships defer your plans.

27) Your First Ayahuasca Journey: More than Just a Biohacking Tool Feb 16, 2022

Welcome back to the Zen Business Podcast. Ayahuasca and Psychedelics - Let's talk about it!

In the last few weeks of travel that I've being doing for both work and recreation, I found that I returned to home unrested, ansty, and simply just in an unpleasant state of being. An immediate assumption from many would be, "How could vacations and travel cause you to feel more stressed than before? Don't you feel even better after some R&R?". Opposed to what many think about long-term travel, the constant disruption if your spiritual practice can absolutely inhibit your mental and physical wellbeing.

Spiritual practices aren't just praying and studying books of faith in a religious or monotheistic format - the little moments of peace, the mental and physical routine you set, and the overall wellness steps you take to align yourself mentally and physically are considered spiritual practice. So, when trying to re-adjust to these practices, a great way to do that is "reconnect with source". This can be much simpler and uninhibited like meditation or breathing practice, or, it can be enhanced by using natural gateways to align this state of being - such as psychedelic substances such as Psilocybin and Ayahuasca.

Today, I'll be delving into my first experience with Ayahuasca and reflecting on how this changed me, my intentions, and my spiritual practice - with an extra special reading from my journal entry from my first Ayahuasca experience.

26) Setting Boundaries in Life and at Work for 2022 Feb 07, 2022

Happy New Year, ZenBiz fam!

After a short hiatus for the holidays and fruitful Q4, I am excited to return with some very special episodes for all my listeners. The last two years has affected entrepreneurs in different ways - some of us have taken full advantage of these difficulties as a means of creating new experiences and challenges to further grow.

As the first month of 2022 is coming to a close, I have taken on challenges in lieu of the new year to strengthen the habits I have worked hard to perfect - such as daily routines, mind and body health, work habits, and so much more. One that seems to always revisit me is boundary setting. I guarantee I am not the only one to re-examine my personal boundaries for the new year, as even those firmest and dedicated to holding their boundaries can even feel that their boundaries are undermined.". No matter who you are or how strongly you may hold to these, exterior forces can always impede your personal barriers lead you to question yourself - "Am I really holding true to my boundaries? Am I letting people cross my boundaries to avoid conflict? Do I really even understand what my barriers i've set?"

Today we will be discussing how to identify ourselves by putting our boundaries into a written format, how we are actually enforcing them in daily life, and which new boundaries we will be adopting in 2022.

In today's episode of the Zen Business podcast, we invite businesswoman and psychologist Dr. Kizzy parks to discuss her journey to entrepreneurship and her use of IO psychology in the workplace

From hustling golfballs to seasoned entrepreneur & workplace psychologist, Dr. Kizzy Parks, like myself, had entrepreneurs' blood coursing through her veins from an early age. With humble beginnings and perseverance, Dr. Parks worked her way from blue color jobs to government contracting & advising, using industrial-organizational psychology or "IO Psychology". Today, she lets us get a taste of what it's like to run her own successful business built on mindfulness and understanding.

According to studies, only 13% of the psychology field is made up of IO psychologists, making her position very unique but in high demand. With her experience in negotiating, advising, and marketing these mental systems within a government job, Kizzy created a successful business by utilizing the "technical side" and the "human side" of psychology in her workplace.

Dr. Parks found that when it comes to navigating workplace politics, giving employees the freedom of expression and understanding was vastly important to balancing the structure of her business. Kizzy believes the way to build a supportive environment is through meticulously choosing each and every client and employee with great care and insight. And, by selecting a team and clients with the same ideals, same mindset, and the capacity for mental reframing, she developed a framework for the perfect workplace environment - learned from the negotiation & psychology that comes with working within government contracting. Kizzy, to put it softly, embodies the pure drive to help other people.

As a result, we lead our online marketing firm, K&J Growth Hackers, to become one of the most fast-growing marketing companies known to publishings like Inc, Forbes, Entrepreneur, and more. With over 200 major companies under our belt (like TikTok, Xfinity, & Monster Energy), the K&J team did not simply get lucky and meet the right people. It took many years of loss, learning, and sacrifice to bring the company to where it is today, thanks to the hard-working minds that keep us going in the U.S. and New Zealand offices. How did K&J Start?

Jonathan and Kale met during a business conference as marketing competitors. By using proven and effective strategies on your average tech company, I have developed many case studies and new strategies from my digital marketing experiences. The roots of virality are a tale as old as time. Literally! Virality existed before Facebook, youtube, and the internet in general, and even before TV and newspapers. Sensational news has always a tight chokehold on the world's emotions. People love a good story whether it's sad, heartwarming, or even downright infuriating. A great story is what you are here to sell, and share-ability matters. Maybe you want to launch a company contest or giveaway with a sweet prize or launch a new app with an innovative or unique service from scratch, or maybe a cause that is extremely personal to you that you'd like to bring awareness to. Outcomes can be amazing, devastating, or simply ineffective depending on your approach.

A key factor to this success is to chose your "element" that will make your product or content go viral. Your intentions must be laid out before even considering publishing your future viral hit. Do you present your content in a negative connotation to invoke emotion and rile up people who want change? Do you take the path of positivity to inspire viewers to take action? With whatever you pick, are you doing so for altruistic reasons and with good intentions? What is it that you believe will truly grasp peoples attention long enough for them to buy what you are selling?

Today, I discuss the decision that many millennials are faced with when they reach their 30s. "Do I really need to buy a home"?

The 2008 market crash sent many middle-class and lower-income families into a financial spiral that we have yet to forget. And after 2 of the most notably economically strained years that we have faced in the 21st century, we begin to feel the similarities between 2020/2021 & 2008 come true.

Does this mean there is another market crash coming? Do we need to be ready for another economic depression? Or are we just a little paranoid from last time?

Adults in the Millennial generation have been pressured by their parents to go to college and invest in real estate or buy a home as they reach adulthood. Sure, at one point, this may have been sound advice. You could invest in a nice family home with leftover liquidity a few decades ago. But is this really as applicable now as it was back in the glory days?

My generation, although being a pivotal part of the modern tech industry & investment trends, holds over 30% of national debt for student loans. Crazy right? Some haven't even moved out of Mom and Dad's place yet, so it raised the questions again. Will millennials ever benefit from buying a home? Is it bad advice or maybe just not the right time? Are there ways to maximize your liquid assets besides being bound to the financial handcuffs of a 30-year mortgage? In this episode of Zen Business, we dissect the common stigmas about making money and how we can reclaim our purpose with money.

Battling insecurity with money and finances can be deep-rooted. If you were like me as a young person, the trials of growing up with financial struggles can reflect how you make decisions throughout your whole life. Breaking the cycle of fearing money, and rather, viewing it as a valuable tool will change your whole outlook on life. Do we fear financial failure and pinch pennies, or do we take hold of the opportunity and maximize our wealth?

It's a controversial topic to most when it comes to people who are millionaires. Most people either think they are evil or are our superheroes, as it is quite easy to judge from the sidelines. And If you share your dreams of becoming a millionaire, your friends and family are usually the first to tell you how ridiculous that sounds. Even with some supportive friends, you may still receive flack for sacrificing social time and partying for the grind. The truth is, the dream is not totally unrealistic for most of us with the drive, regardless of what our peers may think or say. The first step one must take towards becoming a millionaire is letting go of that voice that tells us to feel bad about making money.

We've heard it all before. In order to make money, you need to spend money. But something that most don't realize is that there are far more options than letting your money sit in a bank account and collect interest, or purchasing stocks and bonds just to wait for 20-30 years to cash. While these can be tried and true methods, millionaires are millionaires for a reason, and that reason is they know that there are far more options for investing than these traditional methods. In this episode, I'm going to tell you 3 steps you can take to set yourself up for financial success.

We all want to know what's smart for our money NOW, right? Teaching oneself how to invest, where to invest, when to invest, and why to invest can be the smartest decision one can make for their future. And the wonderful thing about current times is the limitless sea of public resources and all the other root-learned investors who are able and willing to help you begin your journey. In this episode, we discuss how learning from my losses, diversifying my investments, and years of patience brought me to where I am today.

19) Finding Your Author Voice - How to publish for Forbes, Entrepreneur, and More! May 24, 2021

In this episode of Zen Business, I talk through the process of how I went from shooting and writing for my own small fashion blog, to having consistent publications in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Voyage LA, Medium.com, and others.

Finding your "author voice" seems to be one of the first potholes new aspiring writers trip on when beginning their journey. Many up-and-coming authors have a vision for what they want to write about someday, but this is an expectation that can quickly kill the inspiration if we try to start off on a niche we don't actually have. Even if you really love the subject matter, it's not as simple as just jumping in headfirst. What if you want to write about dog training, but have never trained, or much less, owned a dog before? How do you get where you want to be? The simple fact about writing is that you must focus on what you are best at to begin. Many love to write, so how do you stand out from the others? To start, you must simply just start doing it. Sitting down every day and dedicating a few hours to anything you can put on paper, even if it's just word vomit at first. Having the discipline to write is one thing every author can agree that can be the biggest roadblock in the creative process. Once you have traction on writing about something you know, you begin to find the audience you want. Partnering with other up-and-coming writers and imploring your work to small publication companies or blogs is a sure-fire way to find new readers and expand your knowledge of your dream topics! If people like your work, they will follow you on the next journey in your writing adventures, and you will inevitably curate your audience as you take steps towards bigger and better opportunities as an author.
