YCSO Behind the Badge - The 1989 Cold Case Murder of Gene Campbell Feb 19, 2021

Gene Campbell operated a wrecker service in Rock Hill, SC and disappeared while on a service call. His body was later located on February, 21st 1989, on Winter Road off Neely's Creek Rd in the Lesslie/Catawba area of York County, six days after he was reported missing. Campbell had been shot to death and there had been an attempt to cover his body with tree limbs and pine needles. Campbell was 55-years-old at the time.

The suspect shot and wounded a York County Sheriff's Officer K-9 Officer & shot at the K9 tracking team. Later the suspect ambushed a team of SWAT Operators continuing the search. As a result three more officers were shot, two wounded and one other succumbed to his wounds a day later. This is the story of the tragic events of January 15 & 16, 2018.
