Priorities Under Pressure | Khutbah by Dr. Omar Suleiman Aug 07, 2026
    Show notes

A tension has opened up in Muslim communities: Is it right to talk about salah, hijab, or personal worship while Gaza is under siege and Al-Aqsa remains under occupation? One camp says centering these "smaller" matters right now is a distraction. Another says losing sight of them in the name of bigger issues comes at its own cost.
In this khutbah, Dr. Omar Suleiman directly addresses the hierarchy of priorities in Islam, and where both camps may be missing something the other has right. The aim isn't to pick a side, but to reconcile what preservation of faith and standing for justice actually require of a Muslim in this moment.

7 Ways Islam Dealt with Slavery (And Why It Matters Today) | Sh. Mohammad Elshinawy Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

There's a version of history where slavery just sort of ends, where enough people had a change of heart and the world moved on. That's not what happened. Every legal and religious system on earth treated it as permanent, inevitable, untouchable—except one.

In this episode, Shaykh Mohammad Elshinawy traces how Islamic law approached slavery from its very first rulings, why total abolition wasn't immediate, and how the religion built a structure that made the institution's disappearance a matter of time.

    This episode covers:

    — Slavery before Islam, and why almost every civilization had it

    — What the Bible and Roman law actually permitted regarding slaves

    — The Quranic pathways out of bondage and who was obligated to fund them

    — What the Prophet ﷺ's final words reveal about his priorities

    — How a single marriage freed an entire tribe

Mistah ibn Uthatha (ra): Is Forgiving Family More Difficult? | The Firsts | Dr. Omar Suleiman Aug 03, 2026
    Show notes

A Companion who fought beside the Prophet ﷺ at Badr helped spread the worst slander in Islamic history. Mistah ibn Uthatha (ra), relative of Abu Bakr (ra) was flogged for his role in the slander of Aisha (ra), and the verse of the Qur’an that reversed Abu Bakr's vow to cut him off.
Dr. Omar Suleiman walks through who Mistah was, his lineage, his nickname, his standing as one of the first Muhajireen and a veteran of Uhud and Khaybar, and how Surah An-Nur 24:22 directly overturned Abu Bakr's private vow to stop supporting him.

When Your Sin Reaches The Land and Sea | Khutbah by Sh. Ibrahim Hindy Jul 31, 2026
    Show notes

A scholar of the Salaf spent time in prison, and he knew exactly why. Forty years earlier, he'd insulted someone with a single word, and he traced his own hardship straight back to that moment.
From a hadith describing a black spot that appears on the heart with every sin, to a hafidh who forgot the entire Qur'an except one verse, to the red and orange skies that covered Toronto this July, this khutbah moves through what actually happens when a person sins, and why the effects never simply stay in the past.
In this khutbah, Shaykh Ibrahim Hindy examines the consequences of sin: how it clouds the heart, how it steals knowledge, how it drains the sweetness from what's halal, and why istighfar is the only thing strong enough to undo it.

The “Approval” Idol | Signs of the Hour Ep. 12 | Dr. Omar Suleiman Jul 30, 2026
    Show notes

Will Islam one day look unrecognizable, the way other major religions have? The Prophet ﷺ left his ummah a stark warning: don't follow previous nations into a lizard's hole. It's a call to hold firm to your faith, even when the crowd moves elsewhere.
In this episode, Dr. Omar Suleiman talks about the 10 patterns that led other religions astray and what every Muslim needs to watch for today.

3 Rules for Calling People Out the Islamic Way | Imam Tom Weekly Jul 29, 2026
    Show notes

The Companions of the Prophet (s) welcomed correction because they cared more about being right with God than being right in the room. Somewhere along the way, we lost that instinct and replaced it with defensiveness when we’re corrected and ego when we’re correcting.
In this Snapshot, Imam Tom Facchine breaks down how to hold people accountable without letting it tip into ego, and why Islam has always demanded truth over comfort.
    This episode covers:
    — Why taking correction personally is a spiritual red flag
    — How identity-first thinking replaces truth-first thinking
    — The Qur'anic test for figuring out what's actually true
    — What Malcolm X's life shows us about the courage to change your mind

The Fastest "Yes" in Islamic History | Khutbah by Sh. Ibrahim Hindy Jul 24, 2026
    Show notes

Abu Bakr (ra) wasn't just the first man to accept Islam. He was the first to believe without hesitation, to sacrifice without calculation, and to stand beside the Prophet ﷺ when everyone else stepped back.
From freeing slaves and spending his wealth for Allah, to protecting the Prophet ﷺ during the Hijrah, his life is a lesson in unwavering conviction, humility, and trust in Allah.
In this khutbah, Shaykh Ibrahim Hindy explores what made Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (ra) the greatest Companion of the Prophet ﷺ and why his example remains as relevant today as ever.

4 Voices the Prophet ﷺ Told Us Not to Follow | Signs of the Hour Ep. 11 | Dr. Omar Suleiman Jul 21, 2026
    Show notes

A time is coming when liars will be seen as trustworthy, and the honest will be branded as deceivers. The Prophet ﷺ warned us about becoming one of these people—including the person who has an opinion on everything, yet contributes nothing.
In this lecture, Dr. Omar Suleiman dives deep into this powerful warning and what it means for how we carry ourselves, speak, and show up for the people around us.

Do You Want What Allah Wants? | Khutbah by Dr. Omar Suleiman Jul 17, 2026
    Show notes

The next time you raise your hands, don’t stop asking Allah to change your circumstances. But before you ask Him to change your world, ask Him to change your heart. Sometimes the greatest answer to a du’a is not that Allah changes what surrounds you, but that He changes who you become within it.
Memorize this du’a that the Prophet ﷺ would make.
“O Allah grant me Your love and the love of those whose love will benefit me with You. O Allah, whatever you have provided me of that which I love, then make it strength for me for that which You love. O Allah, and what you have kept from me of that which I love, then make it for me a period of rest in that which You love.”

The Night the Qur’an Disappears | Signs of the Hour Ep. 10 | Dr. Omar Suleiman Jul 07, 2026
    Show notes

The Prophet ﷺ told the Sahabah that abandoning 1/10th of what they were commanded would ruin them. Then he told them that a day would come when holding on to that 1/10th would be enough to save an entire generation.
What changed between these two moments isn’t the religion. It’s what it cost to hold on to it.
Dr. Omar Suleiman illustrates how knowledge and religion decay in the same fashion, not stripped away suddenly, but worn out like a “thin garment” until people are left holding the shape of faith but with none of its weight.
