Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray & the teams most likely to make a QB change Feb 28, 2022
    Show notes

After a two-week post-Super Bowl break, You Pod to Win the Game is back in action for the NFL combine, free agency, and the start of the 2022 league year.

Charles Robinson & Dan Wetzel open the show briefly acknowledging the war in Ukraine and this surreal moment in world history before diving into the latest NFL stories percolating during the brief desolate news period between the Super Bowl and the combine.

What has been happening in that period? Well, there's the latest in the ongoing soap opera between Aaron Rodgers, the media and the Green Bay Packers. There's the surprising new drama between Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. Also, the New Orleans Saints recently cleared out some cap space by restructuring Michael Thomas' deal. Charles & Dan go in detail on all three stories and what could be next for those franchises (can someone say, "Jameis Winston?")

Later in the show, the guys talk about which franchises will absolutely be throwing their hats in the 2022 QB carousel and what is likely to occur this offseason with Deshaun Watson.

Super Bowl LVI Recap: Donald wrecks & Kupp drops MVP performance to bring Lombardi back to L.A. Feb 14, 2022
    Show notes

On Sunday night, the Los Angeles Rams made it two wins in a row for teams playing the Super Bowl in their home stadium. L.A. took home the Vince Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl LVI with a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in a tense, defensively-minded game with many ups and downs for both teams.

Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab recap it all the morning after the game: from Odell Beckham, Jr.'s feared ACL tear, to the monstrous performances from Rams stars Aaron Donald & Cooper Kupp.

Charles & Frank also discuss Von Miller's legacy with a second Super Bowl ring, how Sean McVay could challenge Bill Belichick for championship wins, if the Bengals gave away the game, and of course, the super-memorable halftime show featuring Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem and others.

Super Bowl LVI preview: Joe Cool's big stage, McVay v. Taylor & LA's all-in moment Feb 11, 2022
    Show notes

It's finally here. Super Bowl LVI kicks off on Sunday afternoon, and the entire You Pod to Win the Game crew is in Los Angeles for the occasion. Recorded live at Radio Row, Charles Robinson welcomes Yahoo's Frank Schwab and Shalise Manza Young to talk about all the big stories heading into Sunday's game.

They open the show sharing a few memories of Terez Paylor on the anniversary of his passing and the empty hole we all feel not having Terez at the Super Bowl for the first time.

Later, Charles, Shalise & Frank react to commissioner Roger Goodell's Wednesday press conference in which he fielded a few tough questions about recent major issues in the league: the lack of diversity in head coaching hires & the reports of abuse coming out of the Washington Commanders.

Afterwards, they spend the rest of the show breaking down the key storylines ahead of Sunday's game between the Los Angeles Rams & Cincinnati Bengals. Is there any reason not to believe in the magic of Joe Burrow? Will the Rams' all-in roster construction inspire the other 31 teams to follow suit? Can Sean McVay erase the memories of Super Bowl LIII? We'll know the answers on Sunday night. (19:30)

Wrapping up the podcast, Charles spent some time chatting about the 2021 season with Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott & LB Micah Parsons, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen & the state of the Super Bowl's secondary ticket market with StubHub general manager of North America, Akshay Khanna. (52:45)

Grading the NFL's head coaching hires & what happened to Jim Harbaugh? Feb 07, 2022
    Show notes

Five of the nine open head coaching positions in the NFL have been filled. Six, if you include the reported, but unofficial, hire of Ram's offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota.

On the eve of Super Bowl week, Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab look back at the new head honchos in for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars; how these hires came to be, whether they fit with their new teams & whether they can fix these franchises in various states of disrepair.

Later, Charles & Frank discuss why Jim Harbaugh's courtship with the Minnesota Vikings fell through & what in the Josh McCown is going on with the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins coaching hunts.

Finally, the guys look ahead to Super Bowl LVI next week in Los Angeles & whether they think Joe Burrow or Matthew Stafford is the better NFL quarterback right now.

Tanking, fraud, racism, sexual harassment: NFL's very bad Super Bowl bye week Feb 04, 2022
    Show notes

In under a week and a half, the NFL will crown its next Super Bowl champion in the Cincinnati Bengals or the Los Angeles Rams, what should be a celebratory occasion marking the end of another successful season. In the meantime, the NFL is mired in one of its worst PR disasters in recent memory.

Charles Robinson welcomes Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel and Liz Loza onto the podcast to discuss the week's two largest stories, where allegations of racism, fraud & sexual harassment serve as a painful reminder of the league's historical inability to generate meaningful positive change around these issues.

First, the crew dials in on the Washington Commanders, whose nominal refresh on Wednesday was thoroughly overshadowed on Thursday by new allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct and a congressional hearing on the franchises countless abuses. (8:00)

Later, Charles, Dan & Liz dive into former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores filing a class action suit against the league and multiple teams alleging discriminatory hiring practices and competition-underming fraud on the part of owner Stephen Ross. The suit opens a can of worms for the team that could cost the league millions and may even force the likes of Ross and other owners to sell off their teams. (23:00)

If you can believe it, Tom Brady also retired this week. I know, it feels like it was a month ago. The group chats about what's next from an on-field perspective with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and why the team may look very different in 2022 and beyond. (58:30)

Sunday Night Double Down: Bengals & Rams advance to Super Bowl 56, Tom Brady retires? Jan 31, 2022
    Show notes

Conference championship weekend continued the streak of nail biting games on Sunday as the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams advanced to Super Bowl 56. But the drama wasn't contained to Sunday, as ESPN reported Saturday afternoon that Tom Brady would be retiring after 22 seasons.

Charles Robinson & Frank Schwab dedicate the first half of tonight's podcast to the two conference title games. The Kansas City Chiefs suffered a stunning collapse from leading 21-3 over Joe Burrow's Bengals. What's next for the Chiefs and what do they need to do in the offseason to return to Super Bowl glory? In the NFC, the Rams came back from 10 points down in the 4th quarter, likely sending Jimmy Garoppolo onto the 2022 quarterback carousel.

In the second half of the episode, recorded Saturday afternoon, Charles is joined by Yahoo's Dan Wetzel to instantly react to ESPN's reporting that Tom Brady would be riding off into the sunset. What likely led to Brady's decision and what is his legacy as the greatest underdog in the history of the game? (59:20)

Sean Payton's future, why head coach hirings are slow & conference championship preview Jan 27, 2022
    Show notes

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton shocked the NFL world on Tuesday by announcing he would be, "stepping away," from the franchise and, at least temporarily, from the head coaching ranks.

Charles Robinson is joined by The Ringer's Kevin Clark to react to the news that one of the league's best coaches was suddenly a free agent. Beyond the Dallas Cowboys, who have been rumored to be interested in Payton for years, what other teams could be interested in bringing in the Super Bowl winning coach?

Later in the show, Charles & Kevin chat about why many of the head coach openings have remained vacant weeks into January. Is it a bad thing that this process is moving at a seemingly slower pace than previous years? Also, what can the NFL learn from other leagues around the world when it comes to hiring the head coach?

Finally, the guys spend the second half of the show diving into the two conference title games coming up this Sunday between the Cincinnati Bengals taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC and the Los Angeles Rams hosting the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC.

2022 divisional round preview & updates on the Terez Paylor scholarships Jan 20, 2022
    Show notes

The NFL's elite eight has been set and all the contenders have their case to win Super Bowl LV. Charles Robinson is joined by Yahoo's Jay Busbee to preview the four matchups in this weekend's divisional round playoffs.

Can the overlooked Tennessee Titans hold onto home field advantage with Derrick Henry likely returning to action after missing the latter half of the season? Will Aaron Rodgers take it to the San Francisco 49ers team who bounced his Green Bay Packers from the playoffs two years ago? Will Matt Stafford prove he's a Super Bowl worthy quarterback? Can Josh Allen lead his team to a win and establish himself as Patrick Mahomes' true rival to the "best QB in the league" mantle?

Later in the episode, Charles is joined by Ebony Reed, fiancée of the late Terez Paylor. Ebony chats about what she's been up to the last year, and provides exciting updates about the status of the two scholarships in Terez' name at Howard University and the University of Missouri.
