Show notes

Well, Round 1 of the first virtual NFL Draft is in the books. There were a few trades, but nothing completely eye-opening. Considering this draft set something of a precedent for the NFL, it actually went pretty smoothly ... for everyone but Aaron Rodgers. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon give their takes on Round 1 of the draft in the latest fantasy football podcast.

As such, you can imagine that Dave Gettleman is figuring out how to use a computer, while Jon Gruden thinks Zoom is the name of a wide receiver. Oh, and Pete Carroll has probably hoarded all the gum in the northwest Washington state area in anticipation for the draft.

Rounding out the top three consensus picks are: Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and Ezekiel Elliott. (7:25)

And how about the big-name players who have switched teams this offseason? Should the likes of DeAndre Hopkins, Stefon Diggs, Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Melvin Gordon, and Todd Gurley be drafted higher or lower than in 2019, based on their new teams? (28:35)

Gurley & Gordon find new homes, but where will Cam Newton land? Mar 27, 2020

Show notes

Well, it’s official: The Cam Newton era is over in Carolina.

Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss the Panthers releasing the former MVP and more a bit later on the latest fantasy football podcast.

First, two big-name running backs switched teams. The Los Angeles Rams released Todd Gurley, and he was subsequently signed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. (3:55)

The Denver Broncos signed free agent Melvin Gordon, adding him to a backfield that already contained Phillip Lindsay and Royce Freeman. Our experts discuss what the moves mean for fantasy. (10:15)

Newton reportedly had a successful physical in Atlanta that proved his health, so, with that knowledge in tow, where do we think he’ll land? (18:30)

Out of the backfield and switching to out wide, Robby Anderson — signed with the Carolina Panthers (28:00) — and Breshad Perriman — replaced Anderson on the New York Jets — are off the free-agent board. (37:20)

Another wide receiver, Devin Funchess, signed with the Green Bay Packers, giving Aaron Rodgers a new ... weapon? (43:20)

Liz and Matt breakdown all those moves — and discuss sweatpants, lasagna and kumquats on another quarantine edition of the Yahoo Fantasy Football Podcast.

Todd Gurley released, QBs on the move as Free Agency continues Mar 20, 2020

Show notes

What a YEAR this week has been! Tom Brady to the Buccaneers — could Antonio Brown join him? — Philip Rivers to the Colts, both DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs got traded, and Cam Newton gave a very Cam-Newton-like reply to the Panthers allowing him to seek a trade. (6:56)

All in a week’s worth of NFL Free Agency — and it’s not over yet. Liz Loza and Matt Harmon discuss it all and more on the latest fantasy football podcast.

Another quarterback was on the move this week: The Jacksonville Jaguars traded Nick Foles to the Chicago Bears. (8:50)

Does this mean the Gardner Minshew era has begun in Duval? Should Mitchell Trubisky be terrified?

Elsewhere on the QB carousel, the Denver Broncos waived Joe Flacco due to what is being called a “failed physical designation.” Are they going all-in with Drew Lock — or are they about to make a move?

And in one of the more shocking moves of the day, the Los Angeles Rams announced they would be releasing star running back, Todd Gurley! (18:24)

And speaking of running backs, there is also reported mutual interest between Melvin Gordon and the Buffalo Bills.

Got all that? Good, because there’s probably gonna be more to come! (24:54)
