It's that time you've all been waiting for. The question that has been on all of your lips. Just who is going to win Nico's prestigious Golden Pumpkin Award this year?

This and more answered in part one of our Game of the Year coverage. Unlike Hamish's personal list that appears in his recent video, this is collaborative between Hamish and Nico, and features different categories. Expect arguing about super pedantic placement on an ultimately meaningless set of lists!

It just turns out that this system ended up being far more substantial than we previously thought, so we're splitting this over two podcasts.

Phew.

Also, apologies for the late upload and the fact the audio is a bit weird - still listenable though. First hour and a half was recorded last night and was then unusable because of weird audio stuff at Nico's end. Decided to do the news again tonight and join the two segments together. Like all of our podcasts it's a wild and wacky ride. Normal quality will resume next week!

We're back after a week of being busy as HELL. A video gained a bunch of views, channel gained about 10 BILLION NEW SUBSCRIBERS, and now Hamish has some kind of chest infection so LET'S TALK VIDEO GAMES FOR THREE HOURS. Gotta catch up on news from last week, ya know.

Dark Souls 3 DLC is disappointing, Bethesda is killing game criticism stone dead (or something), Nintendo Switch is revealed, Splatoon is e-sports, Red Dead Redemption 2 is also revealed to somewhat less fanfare, voice actors are on strike, Nico's still talking FEAR, Mafia III is still a TERRIBLE game and we're still talking about it, Nico has been playing MMOs, hacked Call of Duty lobbies are a fucking wild ride, 12-year-old Nico loses his shirt in a bet with an old man, United Front closes but True Crime: Streets of LA still exists, David Cage is a fucking idiot, and most importantly of all, a Metallica game isn't coming out.

We discuss Hamish's latest Dark Souls video on Blighttown, before delving into the painfully disappointing (but kind of hilarious) Mafia III for almost an hour - glitches, weird AI, repetitive gameplay, promising narrative, warts and all. Hamish thinks Thumper is pretty revolutionary. Nico tries to get FEAR expansions to run on his new-fangled PC. Then we get delirious - we report the Beyond Good and Evil news we reported last week, Tony Hawk's real name, Snoop Dogg returning to the trenches, the new Hitman episode, the Cuphead delay and Nico's Overwatch Minute.

Prepare to listen to two very tired individuals.

It's October which means 'tis the season for spookin'. Hamish hasn't had much time to play anything, so instead Nico has been playing enough for both of us. Hot new releases like Fear (2005) and Fear 2 (2009). Jump scares can be alright. The beauty of mundanity in Mafia II. The tightrope over a minefield that is racism in Mafia III. No Man's Sky is being investigated by Advertising Standards. Box Maker is a jank-ass Super Mario Maker on Steam. The original Xbox controller was bafflingly huge. Is Mario younger than Hamish? Either way, Bob Hoskins is a truly inspirational actor. Disagreements on DOOM's soundtrack. Metallica is a bad live band. Meshuggah is a really good band. The word 'riboflavin'.
