    Jeanna Combs, Part 2 Jun 18, 2024
    Show notes

It was great to be able to sit down and talk with Jeanna Combs in studio. Jeanna was born in Hawaii, but was raised by her single mom along with her three brothers in Vista, California. As a young girl, the church became her second family and filled in the vacant role of father in her life. Jeanna loved going to church, but didn’t fully surrender her life to Jesus until high school. Shortly after high school, she was invited to take a mission trip to Yugoslavia. Since that mission trip over twenty years ago, Jeanna has continued to serve the Lord in Europe, and is now serving in Paphos, Cyprus. Listen in and hear some of her adventures, adjustments, highs and lows, as well as how she met her handsome husband Loren.

    Susan Lim, Part 2 Jun 04, 2024
    Show notes

We were so blessed to have Susan Lim in the studio with us for a 2-part series where she shared her story of growing up in a Buddhist family, and how God brought her to Himself. She also shared the way the Lord has used the circumstances of her life, including delays, to bring her to where He is currently working in her life and using her. Susan C. Lim (PhD, UCLA) is a historian and author. Her latest book, Light of the Word, weaves both history and personal stories to show the veracity of Scripture. Susan is passionate about God, family, and friends. She loves to learn and teach, especially when it enables others to trust the truth of the Scriptures.

Dorothy L. Sayers (June 1893–Dec. 1957) was more than an English crime novelist and contemporary of Agatha Christie. She was also an ardent Christian and apologist. She was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford University; she spoke several languages fluently; was a brilliant orator, playwright, and writer. Dr. Amy Orr-Ewing (D.Phil, Oxford University), herself a graduate of Oxford, apologist and author, joins me in studio for a 3-part series to talk about the fascinating life, personality, and writings of Dorothy L. Sayers.

    Svea Flood Apr 30, 2024
    Show notes

How could the short life of one woman have such a sweeping impact on an entire nation? The life of Svea Flood is a remarkable story. In 1923, Svea Flood and her new husband, David, and their young son left their home in Sweden and went to the Belgian Congo (currently Zaire). They were accompanied by another couple from Sweden. After arriving at the mission station and seeking the Lord's guidance, the two couples were led to settle in a remote village. However, the village chief sent them away. They reluctantly built mud huts a half a mile from the village and prayed for a breakthrough. After two years of sickness and continual difficulties, they saw no fruit from their labors. Then Svea gave birth to a baby girl and everything changed. Decades later, Svea's daughter learned of how God had planted seeds in that village, and the harvest was abundant.

    Show notes

Mary Ann Aldersey was a petite woman born into an affluent London family in 1797. She was the youngest of 4 children. From an early age, she was determined to help the plight of uneducated Chinese women. She studied Chinese and looked for any opportunity to go to China. After prolonged delays, Mary Ann Aldersey was finally able to enter Ningpo, China, becoming the first female missionary to China. Mary Ann dealt with delays, setbacks, opposition, frustration, and persecution. Mary Ann Aldersey opened the first school for Chinese girls in Ningpo. She also made a Chinese embossed copy of the Gospel of Luke for the blind. Her story is not only remarkable because of all she overcame, but also because of her own failures, imperfections, and authenticity.
