Food is for sure one of our love languages, and we have discovered that the Bible is actually a book for foodies. From Jael, to Esther, to four teenage boys kidnapped and enslaved in Babylon, to a miracle of water to wine at a wedding, to Jesus at the last supper. The story of humanity starts with an apple, and finishes with an incredible, Pinterest worthy, redemptive, banquet feast. There's a spiritual element to gathering at the table, where we are leveled, and the potential for vulnerability, and even exposure, increases. Freedom, justice, miracles, courage, and gumption can all be nurtured at the table. It's no wonder that so many of us struggle (or have struggled) with body image issues, diet culture, and eating disorders - because so much goodness is possible at the table. Dear listener, you are going to LOVE this conversation, so share it with a friend.
