    Rock n Roll Grad School #181 Noel on whether there's More To Life Than Dancing Jun 24, 2024

    Listeners know how we feel about the band Sparks and we had a rare opportunity that we wanted to share with everyone we've ever met.
    You may not have heard of Noel, but if you listen to this show, you've definitely heard us sing the praises of two people who wrote and produced a record for her.
    Ron and Russell Mael from Sparks made "Is There More To Life Than Dancing?" for Noel shortly after completing their "No. 1 Song in Heaven" album.

    What would have happened if the January 6th insurrection had been successful? Harvard law professor Alan Jenkins co-wrote the book. It is a fascinating study of what could have happened.     Believe it or not, MGM wasn't sure how to sell Stanley Kubrick's sci-fi masterpiece "2001: A Space Odyssey." One of the ideas suggested by PR executive Mike Kaplan was 'how about a pop single?'     David Coutcher met a guy in Mexico City in the late 60s. As they got to know each other, this guy opened up to David about his past. And, reflecting back on their friendship David came to a terrifying realization- his 'friend' was confessing to him his horrible life in crime. Because David's friend was the Zodiac Killer. And the murderer of the Black Dahlia. And DB Cooper. And one of the three prisoners who escaped from Alcatraz.
    David's written a book about this relationship and all the things he's been able to find in the ensuing years to back up his theory about who his friend claimed to be. The book is called "My Dance with the Zodiac Killer." And David has a YouTube channel where he recounts all the stories his friend Frank told him over the years.
