Ron Lessard is America's Greatest Living Noise Artist, and a legend if there ever was one. Between his pioneering label RRRecords, his alter ego EMIL BEAULIEAU, and his record shop in Lowell, Massachusetts, Ron is the embodiment of noise and an international treasure. In 2006, he quietly retired from performing live after years of tireless touring and recording. Jeph works with rough, raw, organic sounds - both played and captured - to create deeply penetrative work that defies easy categorization.

In this conversation, we talk about his early experiments with body sounds, his approach to recording and degradation, the importance of listening and attention, field recording, improvisation, and the evolution of his practice over more than four decades.
