    While We Still Can

Do you call the Show-Me state home? Are you sick of burying your head in the sand about national and local political issues? Are you too overwhelmed to even think about consuming news due to the sheer quantity? We realized through conversations with people in all different settings, most have NO IDEA what’s going on in our local government. We decided to do this podcast to cover the shenanigans that we think is especially important for our friends and family to know. We do say a few cuss words so we wouldn’t recommend listening while your kids are in the car!

GUEST KEVIN ANNETT: The Church, The State, and the Silence: Why Citizen Courts Are Rising Nov 15, 2025
    Show notes

In this jaw-dropping episode, we dive into the controversial investigations of Kevin Annett, a long-time advocate for survivors of church-run residential schools and institutional abuse. For over 30 years, Annett has pushed to expose what he calls hidden crimes within powerful systems, from churches to governments to global financial networks. We explore the shadow side of history, including allegations of church involvement in the abuse of Indigenous children, covert programs tied to mind-control experiments like MKUltra, and the networks involved in human trafficking. Annett discusses why he believes certain institutions, including courts and media, avoid touching these issues - and why citizen-led inquiries and independent tribunals may be the only path to truth. The episode unpacks big themes: The tension between power, politics, and religious institutions How trauma can lead to dissociative coping mechanisms Why Annett argues that systems are designed to protect perpetrators, not victims How communities can reclaim power through local governance and citizen-driven justice At its core, this conversation is about one thing: truth as a tool for change. Whether you’re researching church abuse scandals, institutional corruption, or grassroots justice movements, this episode offers a provocative look at what happens when everyday people refuse to stay silent. Hiding in Plain Sight feat. Tony! Nov 08, 2025
    Show notes

In this episode, we talk about why working families rely on SNAP benefits. Hint: it’s not because they’re living the high life on government-funded charcuterie boards. It’s because many corporations still behave like paying a living wage is a mythical concept, like Bigfoot or affordable housing.

We dive into how the middle class keeps the entire economy running, yet somehow keeps getting treated like the “optional” middle child. Then we take a detour into the world of politics, where manipulation is basically a sport and women running for office get critiqued on their policies and their shoes. Technology, mind games, psychological influence—it’s all here. Yes, your phone is basically a tiny propaganda billboard.

We also shine light on the very real and very global issue of human trafficking, because pretending it doesn’t exist isn’t helping anyone. And we wrap it all up by reminding ourselves of the most powerful force we have: community. When things get chaotic, we don’t rise alone. We rise together. Preferably with snacks.

No Kings, Just Guys Who Think They Are Oct 31, 2025
    Show notes

The “No Kings” rally drew a crowd — proof that people are fed up. From protests that mix humor and anger, to ICE’s ballooning budget and the military’s quiet moves in the Caribbean, this episode looks at how power keeps expanding while citizens push back. We talk student loans, trade, and why satire might be the last honest form of protest.

DID YOU MEAN TO VOTE FOR A DIAGNOSIS??? Oct 21, 2025
    Show notes

2025 called — it wants its sanity back. From Amish peace to political chaos, we’re watching history replay itself, just with more hashtags and fewer ethics. The CDC’s under fire, Trump’s still fishing for gold stars, and the voting machines may or may not be owned by your cousin’s crypto startup. It’s the same circus — just new clowns.

Red, White & Really, Really Wrong Oct 05, 2025

Buckle up for a brutally honest ride through Missouri’s political hell, where Jess Piper calls out the nonsense most politicians hope you’re too distracted to notice. From gerrymandered districts and disappearing detainees to billionaire-approved news and TikTok takeovers, we’re unpacking how democracy got sold at a garage sale. If you’re tired of gaslighting headlines, government hypocrisy, this podcast is your antidote.

Cognitive Dissonance in Politics: Why People Defend the Indefensible ft. Tony Sep 26, 2025
    Show notes

    @anthon7yandrews

Join us with Tony as we tackle free speech — that magical right people confuse with “say anything without consequences.” Algorithms are now our overlords, documentaries try to clean up the mess, and cognitive dissonance keeps politics spinning. Meanwhile, scandals involving politicians and child abuse remind us that accountability is apparently optional. And political “compromise”? Just code for selling your soul for a seat at the table.

Missouri: Hot Mess Express and Red Carpet Dictator Treatment Sep 09, 2025
    Show notes

Welcome to Missouri, where it’s so hot even protests are sweating democracy out of existence, but don’t worry — a $2 million stealth bomber flyover made sure taxpayers felt the burn too. While politicians swap awkward handshakes with Putin and Gavin Newsom sharpens his 2028 audition tape, Missouri public schools slide down the rankings faster than grocery prices climb. Meanwhile, St. Charles may get a shiny new data center (because what’s transparency when you can have tech bros and higher utility bills?). Media spin is losing ground to independent voices, gender politics are still stuck in the 1950s, and we’re left wondering: will anyone actually write this mess down so future generations know exactly how ridiculous it was?

80 Years of Wisdom: A Woman Who Lived Before Women’s Rights feat. Kate K. Aug 30, 2025
    Show notes

This week, we dive into the shockingly controversial idea that women should gasp value education and financial literacy—wild, right? We explore how personal experiences shape views on women’s rights, why divorce can be the ultimate glow-up, and how single mothers are basically running society on caffeine and pure grit. The political climate isn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet for women’s rights, and healthcare access, especially around abortion, is becoming a luxury item. We call out societal pressures that keep women stuck and remind listeners that self-worth isn’t optional, it’s survival.
