    Wow, there was so much information in the first episode with Nick that we ran out of time. We brought him back…as promised for more!!! Nick answers a few questions about the Glacier Girl recovery and then we dive into recovery equipment! This is great information from a guy that know his stuff. If he uses it and trusts it, so should you! As we have mentioned on the show over and over the weather in the high sierra is nothing to take lightly and even the most experienced and equipped people can be caught off guard and in trouble. Lots to learn here and everyone should know who Nick is in case they need to be recovered…snow or shine!
    Some of the equipment that he operates includes a Toyota 4Runner (we know), Kawasaki ATV, he has a Can-Am SxS and various other tracked and wheeled vehicles to aid in back country recoveries. There will be more of these types of episodes in the future because we know the popularity of the sport has really taken off and sometimes people bite off more than they can chew.

    Jason and Chris have special guest on for this episode. Rene Allen, Sierra-Trek Chairperson, is on the line to give us all the up to date deets for this years Sierra Trek. This premier event which is put on by Cal4Wheel is rapidly approaching and will be here before you know it. The dates are August 11th through the 14th and if you aren’t there and miss all the fun, then it’s not because we didn’t tell you so! So, after all the great information given here, surf your computer or phone over to the Cal4Wheel.org website and click on the events link. Get your credit card out and sign up for the event. Don’t miss out. If you have any questions and want quick answers from the person that knows everything about it, send an email to cal4sierratrek@gmail.com.     This event really is one of the most important fundraisers of the year for Cal4wheel and they need maximum participation so that they can continue to fund all the land use fights that are constantly going on. Help us to keep the trails that we love to recreate on open!
    The boys also talk about some off-road racing that has occured and more instruction on how to track down your favorite bourbons (and not get ripped off doing it!)!

    Ep. 161: Adopt-A-Trail 2022 Recap! Jun 21, 2022

    Chris and Jason take this weeks show on the road. They recorded remotely from one of their favorite places to be. The high sierra campground called Horse Gulch off of forest road 07N09. Beautiful scenery surrounds this remote dry camping location. It is a good base of operation for the group as they headed out each morning to work on clearing and opening the trails for the season. Exciting stuff…yes, it’s work but the reward and feeling of satisfaction afterwards is well worth it. Hear the complete recap and we are happy to announce that Coral Hollow and the Mattley trails are all clear and open for summer recreating.
    Remember everyone, the forests are going to be very dry this summer so follow all campfire rules and restriction so that we can prevent forest fires.

    Jason and Chris are still delivering the goods from their road trip to Prairie City for the MAO Ultra4 races a couple of weekends ago. We are also continuing the theme by connecting with more of the young contingent of racers. In this installment, we meet with Wayland Campbell (@wayland_shreds). He is part of a family of racers and has his own incredible story to tell. Later in the day, a couple of hours before the final, we escaped the heat of the day for some air conditioning and water for our chat. It was epic and he is such a genuine and down to earth person. The conversation flowed and would have kept going but he had a race to drive in.

    Ep. 156: A Visit with Ultra4 Racers Madie Moon and Woody Rose May 17, 2022

    Jason and Chris go on the road in this exciting episode and their destination was Prairie City SVRA in Folsom, California. They went there because Midwest America Outdoor and Ultra4 Racing were having an event. Off-road racing and all the excitement that goes with it was in abundance at this great venue. Great racing, great crowds and great meeting new people!
    In the midst of all the excitement, Jason and Chris were able to sit down with two of the young up and comers of the sport for a nice chat. Madie Moon and team mate, Woody Rose took a few minutes out of the chaos to sit in some air conditioned comfort and hydrate before the afternoon racing. We learned lots of great stuff about these racers and are pleased to present to you, our listeners, the beginning of their stories.
