Episode 212: Superstars on the Superstation 02-07-1986 Feb 03, 2021

Our look back at JCP on TBS in 1986 takes you to the night of the dream matches. For weeks, in January, fans watching World Championship Wrestling were asked to send in postcards of the matches they would like to see on TBS. The result: Superstars on the Superstation.

The event was held at the Omni on 02-02-86 and broadcast five days later. It drew a rating of 3.2 and featured such "dream" matches as: Ric Flair vs Ron Garvin for the NWA World Title, the Midnight Express vs the Rock and Roll Express for the NWA World Tag Team Championship, Dusty Rhodes against Tully Blanchard for the National Heavyweight Title and the Road Warriors against Ivan and Nikita Koloff.

It's a departure from the weekly Saturday night, 6:05 shows as the 02-01-1986 edition is not available for watch-along. But this has some great action and interviews and a departure from the norm for Jim Crockett Promotions during the wonderful year of 1986.

    Episode 208: WCW 01-04-1986 Jan 06, 2021

    Welcome to 1986!

During the next 12 months of this new year of 2021 we will go back and look at the greatest year in Jim Crockett Promotions history.

It was the year of the Great American Bash, the Rock and Roll Express Super Summer-Sizzler Tour and, tragically, the wreck that ended the career of Magnum T.A.

In this first episode of 1986 from the TBS Studios, we see Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express, Tully Blanchard and J.J. Dillon, Baby Doll, the Road Warriors, Ivan Koloff, Arn Anderson and a boat-load more.

How old were you in 1986? Here's a look back at a wonderful time and a skinny Tony Schiavone.

    Episode 206: WCW Starrcade '98 Dec 23, 2020

Starrcade was always WCW's premier event. So, it's obvious Hulk Hogan, Sting, Randy Savage, Lex Luger, Roddy Piper, Booker T. and the Steiners were all there.

    WRONG. All were missing.

But. there was Goldberg vs Kevin Nash. And this was the night the streak would end at the hands of "Big Sexy."

Was this the biggest turning point in WCW?

Go down "memory lane" with Conrad and Tony as they discuss not only the

main event, but also Ric Flair vs Eric Bischoff, DDP vs the Giant and a thrilling three way match featuring Juventud Guerrera, Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio, Jr. (and then Eddie Guerrero).

    Episode 205: WCW Monday Nitro 12-21-1998 Dec 16, 2020

It's the Monday Nitro "go-home" show for Starrcade '98, and...well...you could see the paint peeling off the old WCW machine.

No Hogan, no Sting, no Macho Man, no Roddy Piper, no Bret Hart. The show did have plenty of star power, though: Goldberg, Hall and Nash, the Giant, Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Arn Anderson, Chris Jericho, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Jr. and more.

The matches were not good, but the Flair interview about Bischoff is worth its weight in gold.

Welcome to WCW at the beginning of the three worst weeks in company history. Directly ahead: Goldberg loses, the finger poke of doom, and the butts in the seats fiasco.

    Episode 204: WCW Monday Nitro 12-08-1997 Dec 09, 2020

It was a great time in WCW. It was during the build-up to what would be the company's biggest night: Starrcade '97, Sting versus Hollywood Hulk Hogan.

From a sold out arena in Buffalo, New York, stars like Macho Man Randy Savage, Diamond Dallas Page, Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell, Konnan, Ric Flair, Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Eric Bischoff, Dean Malenko and more were all there.

As history would prove, Starrcade three weeks later would become quite a controversial event, but the road there would be very exciting.

    Episode 203: World Championship Wrestling 11-26-1988 Dec 02, 2020

We go back to one of the turning points in Jim Crockett/NWA/TBS history.

When Turner Broadcasting purchased Jim Crockett Promotions, they wanted to tone down the violence. And for reasons still not really known to this day, Dusty Rhodes, the booker for JCP did the exact opposite.

The "spike in the eye" will go down as one of the most memorable moments of TBS studio wrestling and led to Dusty being ousted as booker.

It's all here. The stories, the questions and...the blood.

    Episode 202: Starrcade '85-The Gathering Nov 25, 2020

During this Thanksgiving week, we go back and take a look and listen to when Thanksgiving night was the biggest night of the year in Pro Wrestling.

Starrcade '85 was full of memorable moments, but if you think it was because of the end of the Dusty Rhodes/Ric Flair title match, then you miss the point and are only looking for the negative.

There was so much more: Magnum T.A. versus Tully Blanchard in an "I Quit" match for the U.S. Title. Buddy Landel winning the National Title and the Rock and Roll Express topping the Ivan and Nikita Koloff for the World Tag Title.

There were some other matches that had their moments such as Superstar Billy Graham and the Barbarian in an arm wrestling contest. Black Bart meeting Ron Bass in a bullrope match and the Midnight Express against Jimmy Valiant and Ron Garvin in drag in a tuxedo street fight.

A lot to unpack, but a lot of NWA-Jim Crockett Promotions history in the making.

    Episode 201: Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling 11-16-85 Nov 18, 2020

It was the build up to Starrcade '85: The Gathering.

    And it's HARD TIMES.

Yes, the famous interview by the American Dream Dusty Rhodes as he readies to do battle with Ric Flair.

Also, it's the buildup to Tully Blanchard vs Magnum T.A. and the famous "I Quit Match."

It's back when the pro wrestling television shows were nothing but an infomercial to get you into the arenas, but damn they were good.

    Episode 200: World Championship Wrestling 11-12-1988 Nov 11, 2020

Back we go to the 80's during the WTBS studio days.

Jim Crockett Promotions was in turmoil with their selling to Turner Broadcasting not too far away. Behind the scenes, apparently the friction between Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes is at an all time high.

So, as stories and legend have it, Ric Flair goes out and has a great match with George South just to prove a point.

But there is much more, including a promo from Jim Cornette directed towards Paul E. Dangerously that is can't miss. We think you'll agree, it's one of the classic promos of all time.

It's time to hop in the time machine and take you back to when wrestling on TV looks a whole lot different than what you see today.

Episode 199: ECW November to Remember 2000 Nov 04, 2020

It's another venture back into ECW, but this time it's when the promotion is on the down-slide. Still, there's a lot of good things including: Jerry Lynn, Justin Credible, Kid Kash, CW Anderson, FBI, Mikey Whipwreck, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Da Baldies, The Sandman, Dawn Marie, Francine and the GREAT Chris Hamrick. Plus Steve Corino gets his well deserved due, his first World Championship.

Keep an eye out for Angel of Da Baldies suffering some severe burns and for Francine's posterior getting plenty of camera time during the finish of the main event.

Also listen for "Tony's Nightmare" and "Tony Does Love Songs."

    Episode 198: WCW Halloween Havoc 1989 Oct 28, 2020

A lot to unpack in this one as we begin Halloween week of 2020.

Four great performers battle in the main event in what was the very first Halloween Havoc ever! Flair, Funk, Sting and Muta! How about that for a lineup?

All four in a Thunderdome match, a cage with so much decoration that it caught fire (a great Halloween treat)!

Plus, the Road Warriors, the Midnight Express, the SST, the Steiners, Doom, Tommy Rich (Somebody say something about Halloween???). Lex Luger, the Freebirds, Brian Pillman and more.

    Episode 197: Sting's Debut-WCW 10-17-87 Oct 21, 2020

We think you are really going to dig this! October of 1987, Sting makes his debut on TBS and World Championship Wrestling!

It's easy to see how his character grew from this moment, but it is also great to see how much potential he had from just one match and following interview.

Just like all TBS studio programs in that era, this show was short on wrestling action but long on great interviews.

    This is one to remember!

    Episode 196: WCW Thunder 10-04-2000 Oct 14, 2020

If you like great wrestling action with great storylines...then you have come to the wrong place.

A show that was long on skits and interviews and short on action, the event was from Long Beach, California and is best known for the standoff between Jeff Jarrett and Beetlejuice of Howard Stern fame.

That was in the very first segment and it went downhill from there.

The crew was ready to embark on a trip to Australia and this was the last stop on what was a lousy tour out west before the long trek to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

This was WCW approximately five months before the end and there was no doubt the promotion was in trouble.

    Episode 194: ECW Anarchy Rulz 2000 Sep 30, 2020

It's another look back at some intense, high impact ECW wrestling with Conrad and Tony. Originating from St. Paul, Minnesota, this event was probably the highlight of the great career of Jerry Lynn. His ECW World Title match against Justin Credible was tremendous. Plus, in action: Rob Van Dam against Rhino; C.W. Anderson versus Steve Carino; the Unholy Alliance meeting FBI and an ass-kicking match pitting EZ Money against Kid Kash.

We love us some ECW! And you will too...

Episode 193: WWE One Night Only Sep 23, 2020

This Pay Per View event, originating from Birmingham, England was filled with intrigue. Plenty of great wrestling action with the Legion of Doom, Dude Love, Owen Hart, The Patriot, the Headbangers, Bret Hart, the Undertaker, HHH, the Godwinns, Flash Funk, and more.

But the story was Davey Boy Smith against Shawn Michaels for the European Championship. A memorable match and swerve that only the WWE could cook up in 1997.

Relive the moments. Why didn't Smith? Who was behind it? So many questions...and so much speculation. It may have be ONE NIGHT ONLY, but the memories have stood the test of time.

Episode 192: Ask Tony Anything Sep 16, 2020

What does Tony think is the most shocking thing about being backstage at AEW? What call does he regret making during his career? Would he leave AEW to work for the Atlanta Braves? What would he have done differently if he had been in charge of WCW back in the 90's?

Tony answers these questions and many more as he fields the queries from our Twitter feed @WHWMonday with the hashtag #AskTony.

Episode 191: WCW Clash of the Champions XX Sep 09, 2020

It's a fine celebration of 20 years of professional wrestling on "The Superstation" TBS. Complete with legends such as Gordon Solie, Bruno Sammartino, Andre The Giant, Dusty Rhodes, Bill Watts, Thunderbolt Patterson and more! However, there was also some (not much) wrestling action featuring Ron Simmons, Cactus Jack, Vader, Rick Rude, Sting, Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, Jake the Snake Roberts and many others.

We go back to 1992 when the Bill Watts era attempted to be completely different than the WWE...but then there was Turner Home Entertainment that didn't give a damn about Bill Watts, as long as they could turn "Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal" into a sitcom.

You'll understand by the time we're done....

    Episode 189: ECW Doubleheader (08-30-94 and 09-03-99) Aug 26, 2020

Conrad and Tony take you back in time to TWO very different episodes of ECW. First, we go back to 1994 when Extreme Championship Wrestling was born. When Shane Douglas threw down the NWA belt and became the ECW champ. It was quite a swerve to the NWA and will never be forgotten on many levels.

Then we will go back to the very first live-to-tape ECW show on TNN in 1999. Taz opened the show with a big win and later, The Dudleys were a big part of the episode as this would be their last show before leaving to the WWF (E).

Also, both episodes have some great Tommy Dreamer moments as well. Strap in for an EXTREME RIDE!

Episode 188: WCW Clash of the Champions XXXIII Aug 19, 2020

It's a wrestling show loaded with talent, but also loaded with short matches.

Join Conrad and Tony as they take you back to your childhood of 1996. Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair was the headliner, but it also had the Steiners, Sting, Lex Luger, Hall and Nash, DDP, Harlem Heat, Eddie Guerrero, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, VK Wallstreet, the Giant, Chris Benoit, Ultimo Dragon, Konan, Glacier, Kevin Sullivan, Col. Robert Parker, Sister Sherri, Queen Debra, Jimmy Hart, the Barbarian, Hugh Morrus, Madusa, Bull Nakano, Woman, Miss Elizabeth, Meng, and, it what will go down as a sensational matchup, Rey Mysterio against Dean Malenko.

It wasn't well received by the dirt sheets, but it had some great moments. And it was the NWO before the NWO was ultra cool.

    Episode 186: SummerSlam 1997 Aug 05, 2020

We go back to your childhood once again, and this time we stop at an historic moment in pro wrestling.

It was on this show that Owen Hart's piledriver injured Stone Cold Steve Austin's neck and changed things quite a bit.

But there is more! HHH vs Mankind in a cage, Ken Shamrock vs the British Bulldog, Gold Dust against Brian Pillman and Bret Hart meeting the Undertaker.

Dave Meltzer did not really care for this show, but you know what we say about that. Because WE did. Enjoy SummerSlam from New Jersey and from 1997!!!

    Episode 185: TNA 07-31-2002 Jul 29, 2020

Okay, so then there is this. The infamous episode of TNA where Jeff Jarrett comes to the ring with a "little person" in a sack. Beats him up and then ANOTHER little person named "Puppet" arrives and pulls a gun on Jarrett.

    Got it. Wait. WHAT?

It's all here from 2002. And even AJ Styles vs Elix Skipper could not save this show. And you think WCW was bad? Well, it was, but maybe not THIS bad.

    Episode 184: TNA 07-17-02 Jul 22, 2020

So this was NWA-TNA in 2002, huh? Yeah, it was bad. Oh, it had some great moments: like Low Ki vs AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper vs The Flying Elvises, but most it sucked. From a "little person" doing some "questionable things" in a trash can, to Francine and Jasmine fighting in a shower, this was known more for its sex than its wrestling. You're invited to join Conrad and Tony as they watch a show loaded with wrestling talent, but empty on entertainment value.

    WHW Episode 183: ECW Heatwave 2000 Jul 15, 2020

Lot of crazy stuff in this one, kids. Complete with a disturbance from members of Xtreme Pro Wrestling, the event from the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, had very memorable moments. From the Jerry Lynn-Steve Carino bloodbath, to Justin Credible against Tommy Dreamer, to a very exciting six-man tag match to RVD vs Scotty Anton, this night had something for everyone.

This final ECW produced pay per view was in front of a raucous Los Angeles crowd that made for a fine evening.

And let's not forget about Francine !!

    WHW Episode 182: WWE Raw 07-06-1998 Jul 08, 2020

The same night WCW had Goldberg vs Hollywood Hogan for the World title on Nitro, the WWE countered with a taped show from State College, PA. It wasn't the best show, but the story lines were good enough to make it an excellent show.

With the Undertaker, Stone Cold, Mankind, D-Lo Brown, Terry Funk, Vader, Bradshaw, Val Venis, Dustin Runnels, D-Generation X, Ken Shamrock, Savio Vega, Road Warrior Hawk and Mabel, it had plenty of star power. But unfortunately, it has had a couple of matches from Brawl 4 All. (ugh)

It's WCW at its very worst! Welcome to the Great American Bash 2000. It was the final GAB from WCW and it was the night Goldberg turned heel and business REALLY went down the toilet. Even though there were other such big names as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner, DDP and Sting, there was no stopping the WCW-to-Out of Business train.

    Episode 178: WCW Monday Nitro 06-09-1997 Jun 10, 2020

One of the most iconic Monday Nitros ever. Loaded with talent and backstage politics, this event, from Boston was, in a nutshell what WCW was all about, and why WCW went crumbling down.

The lineup was spectacular. Hulk Hogan, the Macho Man, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Lex Luger, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, the Steiners, Harlem Heat, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, a six man cruiserweight event...and more!

But as Conrad and Tony explain, there was plenty of behind-the-scenes turmoil that hastened the demise of WCW and muddled up the finish of the main event.

Oh, and look up in the rafters: IT'S STINNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

    Episode 177:First TNA Impact 06-04-2004 Jun 03, 2020

Here's the link on Impact Plus for the watch-a-long:

    https://www.impactplus.tv/details/_6003449127001

It's the first edition ever of IMPACT as it aired on FSN on June of 2004. With such established stars as Shane Douglas, Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Jarrett, the show had plenty of star power. And with such performers as Elix Skipper, Amazing Red, AJ Styles, Kid Cash, Frankie Kazarian, Bobby Roode and Abyss, the future looked bright for the promotion.

Well, 16 years later, the promotion is still in business. And that actually says a lot.

Join Conrad and Tony as they go back and watch the very first TNA IMPACT and the impact it had on pro wrestling.

    Episode 176: Tony in TNA 01-29-2003 May 27, 2020

Note: The link to watch along this TNA Show on Impact Plus is: https://impactplus.tv/details/_6003448649001

In January 29, 2003, Tony Schiavone made his first and only appearance in TNA. He arrived on the wishes of his friend, Vince Russo, and turned heel on Mike Tenay. It was a show loaded with talent: AJ Styles, the Rock and Roll Express, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Amazing Red, Larry Zbyszko, Chris Harris, James Storm, Sonny Siaki, Jerry Lynn, David Flair and Kid Kash.

After the show, Schiavone left the business and was not heard from again until Conrad Thompson came into his life in 2017. Listen in as Tony watches the entire show for the very first time and tells Conrad the reasons why he walked away from the business and went another direction in his career.

    Episode 175: WCW Monday Nitro 05-22-2000 May 20, 2020

This episode of Nitro was known as the funeral for Ric Flair, but it was also a funeral for WCW. The promotion was certainly a "Coffin on Roller Skates" at this point in its history.

Actually, it was chocked full of WCW stars, but there was just TOO MUCH GOING ON. You needed a scorecard and Ritalin just to keep up with everything. From a lovers spat between Billy Kidman and Torrie, to Booker T. getting fired, to the funeral, to the Norman and Ralphus car wash, to Terry Funk's non-announcement, to Kanyon's injury...whew!

Were there matches scheduled? Uh, we think so. Hogan, Scott Steiner, Vampiro, Kevin Nash and Jeff Jarrett and more were scheduled to be in action. Did they actually have matches? We can't remember.

Enjoy some of the bitter end of WCW: Nitro May 22, 2000.

    Episode 174: WWE Raw 05-19-03 May 13, 2020

If you were looking for a bad show to watch-along with Conrad and Tony then this is not it. This is actually one of the better wrestling show you will see. Featuring HHH against Ric Flair in a match and storyline that weaved nicely through the show. Plus, a great performance by Stone Cold Steve Austin on the mic helps make this an unforgettable event.

Also featuring Chris Jericho, Kevin Nash, Christian, RVD, Eric Bischoff, Goldberg, Lance Storm, Scott Steiner, Shawn Michaels, Kane, Test, the Dudleys, Spike Dudley, Rodney Mack, Teddy Long, Stacy Keibler, and La Resistance. This is a show we know you are going to love to remember.

    Episode 173: ECW Wrestlepalooza '98 May 06, 2020

Conrad and Tony take you back to the Marietta (GA) Civic Center to May 3, 1998 and one of the most panned ECW Pay Per View broadcasts ever. From Bam Bam Bigelow having to work with New Jack, who had knocked himself out cold, to the terrible stunt show from Sabu and RVD, to the messed up finish between Al Snow and Shane Douglas, this one was a stinker.

But at least there were the likes of Francine, Taz (a cameo only), Tommy Dreamer, Chris Candido, Lance Storm and Justin Credible.

Other than that this one was a May to Forget for ECW.

    Episode 172: WWE Backlash 2006 Apr 29, 2020

It was 2006 and Vince McMahon ruled the (wrestling) world. What else was he was he to do? Enter the grand idea of winning a tag match against God. Yes, this will go down as one of the most absurd event ever cooked up by the the WWE, but hey, no competition and a group of lousy writers, why not give it a shot. So enjoy Mr. McMahon feeding loaves of bread and fish to the masses, changing water into wine and fondling Candice Michelle (really bad). And while you are at it, enjoy Big Show against Kane with a bizarre ending. Oh, also there is a very, very good three way match for the WWE title between HHH, Edge and John Cena. A show that was apply named. There was plenty of Backlash for this one.

Certainly a pay per view featuring Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger and Sid Vicious has to be good, right? Wrong. The year 2000 was one to forget for WCW as in about a year the company would go "belly up." But still, you're invited to join Conrad and Tony for a look at a Bullrope Match, a Yappapi Indian Strap Match and the worst Lumberjack Match ever to take place in pro wrestling. Yes, WCW was in full "Coffin On Rollerskates" mode on March 19, 2000.

    Episode 165: ECW Living Dangerously 2000 Mar 11, 2020

ECW was on the decline and not too far away from being swallowed up by big bad WWE. As usual, the gang pulled out all the stops in this one, including a horrible injury to New Jack. But even the work of Mike Awesome, Masato Tanaka, Tommy Dreamer, Raven, Justin Credible, Steve Corino and even the American Dream Dusty Rhodes could not pull this one up by the bootstraps.

Enjoy the third and final ECW Living Dangerously and without Taz, RVD (except a run in at the end), and Shane Douglas something seemed off.

And, as Tony would say, we did not even get a camera shot of Francine!!!

    Episode 164: WWE Fastlane 2017 Mar 04, 2020

A large crowd gathered in Milwaukee in March of 2017 for a WWE event that received less-than-positive reviews. However, upon second look, the show was actually pretty good. It featured Samoa Joe, Sami Zayne, Cesaro, Braun Strowman, Charlotte Flair against Bailey, Goldberg vs Kevin Owens (all 22 seconds worth) and a classic match between The Bastard Pac (then known as Neville) and Jack Gallagher.

    Episode 162: WCW SuperBrawl 2000 Feb 19, 2020

Welcome to the final year of WCW!

As you can tell from what we are getting ready to watch, the end could not come fast enough. One month after Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn walked out the door, World Championship Wrestling tried to keep the in-ring product exciting; but with Lash LeRoux and The Artist Formerly Known as Prince Iaukea battling for the Cruiserweight title, it was just not the same. They did try to rekindle the Ric Flair-Terry Funk magic from 1989 and had a couple of surprising appearances, but it all fell flat.

Join Conrad and Tony to a journey back to Y2K. Did you computer survive that? WCW did not.

    Episode 161: The Main Event 02-05-1988 Feb 12, 2020

Was this the best angle ever in wrestling? Many feel so. The Hebners as double-referees. Andre the Giant beating Hulk Hogan. The selling of the belt to the Million Dollar Man. The subsequent stripping of the world title and the following tournament to decide a new WWF Champ.

But there is also the Macho Man against the Honky Tonk Man, and, if you look quickly, Strike Force against the Hart Foundation.

It's all a part of pro wrestling lore and now you can relive it with Tony and Conrad and What Happened When.

Episode 160: Tony Loves Extreme Feb 05, 2020

As we begin out fourth season of What Happened When, it's time to take a look back at Tony's first exposure to ECW. Keep in mind he never watched it back in the day and probably was one of those WCW snobs who frowned up "extreme" wrestling. But he quickly fell in love. We are going back in time at some of the great moments of Tony and Conrad watching ECW over the past three seasons. We thought it would just be right to begin a new season with this look back (that, and the fact that Conrad was too drunk to record on Super Bowl Sunday). Enjoy Tony Loves Extreme!

    Episode 159: Royal Rumble 2006 Jan 29, 2020

In the aftermath of the shocking death of his friend Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio posted a emotionally filled, maybe surprising win at the 2006 Royal Rumble in Miami. It was a show filled with plenty of gorgeous women fawning all over Mr. McMahon, but in the ring plenty of action as well as Kurt Angle met Mark Henry, Edge collided with John Cena and 30 stars met to see who would go on for a world title shot at WrestleMania (or so we thought). Gear up for a trip 14 years in the making: the 2006 Royal Rumble.

    Episode 158: WWF Royal Rumble 1992 Jan 22, 2020

With apologies to Saudi Arabia, the Greatest Royal Rumble may have been back in 1992. The world title was vacant and the winner of this event would be crowned the new champ. It was an event loaded with superstars such as Jake The Snake Roberts, Macho Man Randy Savage, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Sid Justice, the Road Warriors, Owen Hart, Jim The Anvil Neidhart, the Bushwackers and many, many more.

Overall business may have been down, but it was a great time to be a WWF fan (just ask 10 year old Conrad Thompson). Enjoy the Royal Rumble from 1992, the night Ric Flair became champion.

    Episode 157: WCW Souled Out 2000 Jan 15, 2020

You've heard the guys describe WCW as being a "coffin on rollerskates." Well, nothing more exemplified that statement than the WCW event Souled Out from 2000. Many guys were out the door after this one as WCW was caught up in who was in/who was out/and who would be booking next. Not many good matches to choose from, but there was Chris Benoit winning the WCW title and Diamond Dallas Page and Buff Bagwell battling for the love of a woman. It was an event beset by change after change after change to the card and about 14 months later, the promotion was DOA. But enough of this sad stuff, enjoy a laugh or two while watching along with Souled Out 2000.

Episode 156: ECW Guilty as Charged 2000 Jan 08, 2020

ECW invaded the Boutwell Auditorium in January of 2000 for a high impact Pay Per View event featuring Mike Awesome kicking Spike Dudley all over the ring and through a few tables as well Also, New Jack met Angel and you can be sure there was a jump off the balcony. But what would a ECW event be without RVD? As he and Sabu hooked it up for the TV Title.

Birmingham, Alabama was on fire for ECW including Conrad Thompson in the front row (buzz cut and all). Join Conrad and Tony as they do one of their favorite things (holiday mention intended), looking back at ECW! ECW! ECW! ECW!

    Episode 155: WWF Raw 01-04-99 Jan 01, 2020

Well, here it is. The show that made Mick Foley a champ and put Tony Schiavone in the toilet. The famous show that turned the tide in the Monday Night Wars of the 90's and helped hasten the downfall of WCW. It is Tony's first look at the show and the moment, and we think you will agree, the appearance by Stone Cold during the finish of the match was one of the biggest "pops" ever in pro wrestling.

The "Greatest Night in the History of our Great Sport?" Certainly for Mick Foley it was; and well deserved.

    ECW Massacre on 34th Street-2000 Dec 25, 2019

Well, nothing says Merry Christmas like a good ole ECW Pay Per View. The beloved promotions was not too far away from closing its doors, but that did not stop the action. Even though there was no RVD or Taz or Sandman (until the very end), there was plenty of action. Highlighted by a three way match for the ECW title between Steve Corino, Jerry Lynn and Justin Credible. Conrad and Tony take you back on another nostalgia-fueled trip 19 years ago. No, it wasn't a "Miracle" on 34th Street is was a "Massacre."

    WCW Monday Nitro 12-20-1999 Dec 18, 2019

As WCW continued to spiral downward, here is a prime example of how it all went wrong. Too much talk, not enough action. It was a show centered on Roddy Piper, and it featured plenty of big stars: Piper, Brett Hart, Kevin Nash, Goldberg, Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, Harlem Heat, Jeff Jarrett and more. But for all the big names and production efforts, it was a show that fell flat. And even the formation of a brand new NWO could not help it out.

    Starrcade 89 "Future Shock" Dec 11, 2019

Get ready for three hours of wrestling action featuring only four teams and four singles competitors. We are not so sure what "Future Shock" stood for in 1989, but 30 years later it stands for ill-conceived wrestling event. Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger, the Great Muta, the Steiners, the Road Warriors, the New Wild Samoans and Doom all got together for a December event at the Omni that everyone in the WCW office thought (we guess) would be great.

    Nope.

Clash of the Champions IV: Seasons Beatings 12/07/88 Dec 04, 2019

WHW takes you back to December 7, 1988. Live from Chattanooga, the fourth TBS Clash of the Champions and during the final year of Jim Crockett Promotions. TBS had already acquired JCP and because of a over-the-top angle that aired on TBS, Dusty Rhodes was out as booker. But he was still in the ring battling Road Warrior Animal for control of the World Six-Man Tag team title belt, which is now lost somewhere in Tony Schiavone's attic...but that's another story.

Here we have what should have been a great tag team main event: Ric Flair and Barry Windham against the Midnight Express; but having Jim Cornett and the Express as baby faces just seemed odd. Additionally, the opening match on the card went (gag) almost 30 minutes. Enjoy the holidays with a little taste of "Seasons Beatings."

Starrcade '84 The Million Dollar Challenge Nov 27, 2019

We take you back on a journey. A journey 35 years (can you believe it?) in the past. When things were much simpler. No pay per views, just closed circuit TV. The match: Ric Flair vs Dusty Rhodes. The prize: the NWA World title and $1,000,000. The referee: Smokin' Joe Frazier. Ah, but there is more: Wahoo McDaniel vs Superstar Billy Graham, a tuxedo match between Paul Jones and Jimmy Valiant, Ricky Steamboat against Tully Blanchard and many. many other legendary wrestlers. Conard does not always love going this far back, but Tony certainly does. Maybe it's because he looks so young in these clips. Back we go to Thanksgiving night, November 22, 1984. Clash of the Champions XIII: 11/20/1990 Nov 20, 2019

Once again into the "Clash" wayback machine, we take you all the way back to THANKSGIVING THUNDER in 1990! Fully entrenched in to the Jim Herd era and basically the end of the run of Ole Anderson as booker, complete with another great chapter in the Sting/Black Scorpion saga. All of this with a few magic acts and some terrible wrestling. Happy Holidays and enjoy from Conrad and Tony and the crew of idiots at the WHW offices.

Clash of the Champions XXV: 11/10/1993 Nov 13, 2019

Another one of those, WCW/NWA/TBS ventures that was full of talent but slim on great action. What can we say? Any show that has The Shockmaster against The Equalizer cannot be all that great. But it did have Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Steve Austin, Sting, Rick Rude, Road Warrior Hawk, Vander, Steve Regal, Bill Dundee, Johnny B. Badd, Brian Pillman, the Nasty Boys (WITH MISSY HYATT) and Davey Boy Smith. Whew! That's the extent of it. Oh, and some confusion about the condition of stabbing victim Sid Vicious. Join us from the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg as we present another TBS cluster****: Clash of the Champions XXV!!

ECW November to Remember '99 Nov 06, 2019

As with every ECW event of the '90, this one was a feast for the eyeballs (in more ways than just wrestling action)! It featured RVD, Taz, Sabu, Chris Candido, Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Lance Storm, Justin Credible and an ass-kicking match between Mike Awesome and Masato Tanaka. Plus, let's not forget Tammy Lynn Sytch, Dawn Marie and Francine. The action was, as always, at a breakneck speed and the duo of Conrad and Tony with a few special guests, did their best to keep up!

    146: Halloween Havoc 1996 Oct 30, 2019

On the heels of the Hulk Hogan turn, WCW was red hot, and this event, Halloween Havoc would become what Eric Bischoff would describe as his crowning achievement in Pay Per View shows. 145: Halloween Havoc 1994 Oct 23, 2019

What could be better than Hogan vs Flair in a cage with careers on the line? A big crowd--including Muhammad Ali--was on hand at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on October 23, 1994 to witness two of the sports biggest star go at it. As usual there were plenty of hits (Hogan vs Flair; Arn vs Dustin Rhodes) and plenty of misses (Kevin Sullivan vs Dave Sullivan), but overall it was a solid show leading up to the arrival of the Dungeon of Doom (ugh!) and a year later, the arrival of the NWO. 141: WWE In Your House-Mind Games Sep 25, 2019

The WWF (WWE) may have been losing in the ratings war in September 1996, but the 10th In Your House hit a home run with the main event featuring Mankind against Shawn Michaels. Mick Foley turned in one of the best performances of his career against one of the greatest workers of all time. Additional, the Undertaker met Goldust, the team of Owen Hart and the British Bulldog took on the Smoking Gunns; plus Jim Cornette, Mark Henry, Jerry "The King" Lawler and a lot more. 140: WCW Fall Brawl 1993 Sep 18, 2019

By the results of the Wrestling Observer Readers' Poll, this was the one of the worst WCW Pay Per Views of all time. It began with Ricky Steamboat against Lord Steven Regal, and with the exception of Ric Flair against Rick Rude and a Cactus Jack against Yoshi Kwan match, it had such duds as Ice Train, Charlie Norris, the Equalizer, Big Sky and a War Games highlighted by the Shockmaster and Road Warrior Animal not getting in the ring. Well, let's just put a bag over someone's head and murder them! And that's what WCW tried to do with the Terry Funk and Ric Flair feud. Regardless, this was a good show, even though the public outcry about the final angle had WCW staffers scrambling to find the right answer. 138: ECW Anarchy Rulz 1999 Sep 04, 2019

As only the guys can do, WHW this week takes a look back at another fun ECW PPV event. It was the last match for Taz in ECW and even though he was viewed at the beginning by the fans as a "sell out" and traitor, he was eventually honored and cheered as he lost the ECW title and shook hands with Mike Awesome at the end. Also Rob Van Dam goes up against Balls Mahoney and Raven and Tommy Dreamer in a very reluctant tag team match. Plus, not to be outdone, there are appearance by Francine and Dawn Marie. 137: WCW Monday Nitro 08-25-97 Aug 28, 2019

WCW was red hot. Nitro was live from the stronghold of the Four Horsemen, Columbia, SC. It was the perfect place for Arn Anderson to give a farewell speech and to offer his "spot" to Curt Hennig. Come back in time with Conrad and Tony to August of 1997. And even though Sting is in the rafters holding a motherfucking vulture, it's a lot of fun. 136: WCW Monday Nitro 08-23-1999 Aug 21, 2019

It's the "Kiss Nitro" with the debut of The Kiss Demon...but...he's not on this show. That's right, the WWE apparently could not use the likeness and music of Kiss, so it was edited out. But does that stop Tony and Conrad? No! We still will go back to bring you Tony's memories of the event including what happened when Ace Frehley was mistaken backstage by Doug Dellinger. Plus, there is plenty of wrestling including Hogan against Sting and a parade of chokeslams from Sid Vicious. Get ready for WCW Monday Nitro from Las Vegas! 135: WCW New Blood Rising 2000 Aug 14, 2019

WITHOUT QUESTION, WCW was a coffin on roller skates in 2000 and as one of the worst Pay Per Views ever, New Blood Rising hit maybe a low watermark. Has there ever been a WCW event with so many matches rated as duds? It was so bad that the mud wrestling match between Major Gunns and Ms. Hancock was probably one of the best matches on the card. Not to be outdone, there was Judy Bagwell on a forklift, Evan Karagias and a whole slew of clusterf***s. A sad time in WCW and a look back from your friends at What Happened When. 134: WCW Road Wild 1998 Aug 07, 2019

From the Black Hills of South Dakota comes the Eric Bischoff vanity project! It's Jay Leno, Kevin Eubanks, Hulk Hogan, Goldberg, the NWO Black and White and the NWO Wolfpack. Plus, Chris Jericho, Juventud Guerrera, Stevie Ray, Chavo Guerrero, The Dancing Fools and a lot of foolishness! One of the worst WCW Pay Per Views EVER and it was one of those events that hastened the demise of WCW. You ready to be a biker, gang? (get it)? Then great ready for Road Wild from Sturgis. 133: Clash of the Champions XXXI 08-06-95 Jul 31, 2019

We take you back to when the Clash of the Champions was...BAD. Here we have Vader against Flair and Arn, the Renegade against Paul Orndorff, Sister Sherri getting a bump on the head and falling in love with Col. Robert Park and...wait for it...Hulk Hogan entering the Dungeon of Doom. WTF? So enjoy the Clash, one year before the birth of the NWO from the exact same arena in Daytona Beach. AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE WATCH-ALONG WWE has revamped their Network. So the show is kind of difficult to find. But we have your hookup. 132: Great American Bash '89 Jul 24, 2019

It's one of WHW's most requested shows. The 1989 Great American Bash featuring Ric Flair against Terry Funk, Ricky Steamboat versus Lex Luger, a War Games Match, Sting squaring off with the Great Muta, Paul E. against Jim Cornette in a Tuxedo Match and plenty more. It was fun with plenty of action and plenty to talk about. We take you back, once again, to the Jim Herd era of WCW. The Great American Bash 1989!!!! 131: WCW Bash at the Beach 1997 Jul 17, 2019

Nine matches from the heyday of WCW; the year of 1997. It was one year removed from Hulk Hogan becoming "Hollywood" Hogan and the NWO was in full force. Do you remember? Some matches were good, and some bad; however, no one could argue against the facet that Dennis Rodman was pretty darn good in the main event with Hogan against Lex Luger and the Giant. Plus, Kevin Sullivan against Chris Benoit, Ultimo Dragon versus Chris Jericho, the Steiners meeting Chono and the Great Muta and Scott Hall and Randy Savage facing DDP and Curt Hennig. Do you like when wrestling was REAL? Did you like the Bill Watts era of WCW? Well, you going to love this one. A show loaded with talent: Steve Austin, Rick Rude, MADUSA!!! Also, Terry Gordy, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Barry Windham, Dustin Rhodes and many, many others. The bulk of the program is a tournament for the World Tag Team Title, but there is also a great match featuring Sting against Vader for the title. 129: Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling 07-07-1984 Jul 05, 2019

Tony and Conrad take you back to when wrestling on television was RAW...and we are not talking about the three hour WWE show. They take you back to Jim Crockett Promotions flagship show: Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. The company had just aired its first Starrcade the November before and were about a year away from their first ever show on TBS. From the dark arena, to the off center "hard camera," there was nothing quite like a JCP show. The territories in pro wrestling were coming to an end and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was still one of the best. Enjoy 1984. JR! Missy Hyatt! The Steiners beating guys up! Paul E. and Terry Funk! Ricky Steamboat Flyin' Brian, Ric Flair and much more. What was there not to like about the Turner product in 1989 (Well, okay the management). But in the ring they were doing some great things. Coming to you from Jimmy Famous Seafood in Baltimore, this is a story of how WCW began "talking" itself out of a good wrestling show. The wrestling was pretty good, but the talk...talk...talk actually ran this show into the ground. It was live from the United Center in Chicago and it featured David Flair getting his shot at WCW World Champion Kevin Nash. 126: Monday Nitro 06-30-1997 Jun 19, 2019

Honestly, was there anything better that WCW Monday Nitro in 1997? Wait...don't answer that! Yes, the show had its ups and downs, but there is no denying the amount of wrestling talent that was on display every Monday LIVE on TNT. From Hogan, Flair, Savage, Sting, Luger, the Giant, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, Hall, Nash, X-Pac, Konnan, Chono...WOW! 125: Clash of the Champions VII-Guts and Glory Jun 12, 2019

What Happened When takes you back to June 14, 1989 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The temperature in the building was incredibly hot and the wrestling...well...got slower and slower as the searing heat baked the participants and crowd. Many left before the end of the show and missed a pretty good bout between Ricky Steamboat and Terry Funk. It was kind of a shitty finish, but still a good match. But the crowd, made up of mostly military, was hot for the Freebirds, the Midnight Express, Sting and the Ding Dongs. Yes, the DING DONGS! It's time for Guts and Glory and back to the year 1989 and WCW! See Tony and Conrad LIVE in St. Louis on Saturday June 22 at 7:00 at OFF BROADWAY. On April 19, 1998, World Championship Wrestling took it's traveling circus to Denver for Spring Stampede. And even though it was well received among wrestling fans at the time, it was still in the wake of the "Starrcade debacle" and the juggernaut they created was starting to show some "wear and tear." It's Hogan and Nash against Roddy Piper and the Giant in a "baseball bat on a pole match;" Raven against Diamond Dallas Page in a Raven's Rules match for the US Title and Sting vs the Macho Man Randy Savage for the WCW World Title. Plus Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Curt Henning, Eddie and Chavo and many more! We go back 21 years to some good and some bad, but all VERY WCW. Join Conrad and Tony for Spring Stampede 1998. No Bull! Join Conrad and Tony for a look at the last ECW Pay Per View. It was turbulent time in wrestling, with the Monday Night Wars nearing an end, and ECW having financial troubles. The final ECW Pay Per View went out with a bang as Jerry Lynn and Rob Van Dam collided for a memorable impromptu match as well as Tommy Dreamer and C.W. Anderson in a bloody "I Quit Match." 120: World Championship Wrestling 11-02-1985 May 08, 2019

1985 was a magical year for Jim Crockett Promotions. Their promotion debuted on TBS in early April, and by the end of the year, they were headed to their third Starrcade loaded with such talented superstars as Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Ivan and Nikita Koloff, the Rock and Roll Express, Arn and Ole Anderson and the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette. But as they headed to Starrcade '85, much of the attention was on the storyline between two phenomenal athletes: Tully Blanchard and Magnum TA. After a week of replays and clips, WCW Monday Nitro went back on the air live on April 10, 2000 to "reboot" the program. It was a new direction of the company under both Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. It was an attempt to cross fiction and storylines with real life. But now, looking back 19 years later, what actually transpired was muddled and confusing and helped WCW quickly down the path of no-return. Join Conrad and Tony for a look back at what seemed like a good idea at the time, but quickly became another painful chapter in the final year of the company. Thirty-one years later, WrestleMania III goes down as one of the most-memorable, most groundbreaking, most influential professional wrestling events of all time. It was the glory days of Hulkamania and pitted Hogan against the legendary Andre the Giant. It also gave us Randy Savage against Ricky Steamboat in truly one of the greatest matches on a wrestling pay per view event. Spring Break always meant one thing for the viewers of WCW Monday Nitro; an episode on the beach. In 2000, WCW took its traveling circus to South Padre Island in Texas for a show that would mark the beginning of the final year of the company. It was a show loaded with plenty of talent (and we're talking about the wrestlers), plenty of risqué videos and plenty of wrestling action. Conrad and Tony take on the beginning of the end of WCW as only they know how; WHW Monday style.

    113: WCW Monday Nitro 07-29-1996 Mar 20, 2019

Join Conrad, Tony and the attendees of the very first Low Key-Big Hog Convention as they watch one of the most memorable WCW Monday Nitro episodes ever. Right out of the famous Bash at the Beach and formation of the NWO, the "Outsiders" were on the attack. The result was a disruption of a television show and an event that forever strained the relationship between WCW and Disney. There were some memorable matches, like Eddie Guerrero against the Boss and a big six man tag with some of the biggest names in WCW. The promotion was about to take off on a red-hot run, and this episode of Nitro was part of that story. 100: Episode 100: Starrcade 2000 Dec 19, 2018

It's the final Starrcade! (Yeah, we know it's now a WWE, house show-streaming-type-thing, but this is the last REAL one). And WCW went out with a fizzle. With the exception of the opening match (a great ladder match, by the way), it was not much going on. DDP and Kevin Nash did win the WCW Tag Team Championship and Big Papa Pump retained the WCW World Title by beating Sid Vicious, but mostly is was a "Christmas Miracle" WCW lasted as long as it did. Many say it was Ric Flair's greatest moment. Everyone tuned in on December 27, 1993 to see not only Flair with one of his finest triumphs, but also to honor "The Man" during his biggest challenge; one on one against Vader. From the opening montage, to Flair leaving his home, to the match, to the emotional end, it was a wonderful tribute. 98: Episode 98: December to Dismember 2006 Dec 05, 2018

Was this the worst Pay Per View of all time? Well, it was branded as ECW, but with the exception of Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, Joey Styles, Taz, Paul E. and an appearance by Sandman, it was everything but ECW. As a matter of fact, a case could be made that it was WWE burning the ECW brand once and for all. Sad, but probably true. 97: Episode 97: Starrcade '83 Nov 28, 2018

This is the one that has "stood the test of time." The very first Starrcade from Thanksgiving night 1983. It was before WrestleMania and became the flagship event of Jim Crockett Promotions and then WCW. It was not a Pay Per View event but was broadcast via closed circuit to many arenas in the then Mid-Atlantic area. Ric Flair vs Harley Race was the featured event, but the event had so much more. Including Roddy Piper and Greg Valentine in a Dog Collar Match; Gordon Solie and Bob Caudle on commentary, Abdullah the Butcher, Ricky Steamboat, the Brisco Brothers, Wahoo McDaniel; and then somewhere backstage a young, green Tony Schiavone. It was also the beginning of the run by Dusty Rhodes as booker of Jim Crockett Promotions. You like blood? You like realism? You like vintage pro wrestling? We take you back to the time when Shane Douglas won the ECW Title in his own hometown with Francine by his side. Was this a good or a bad ECW Pay Per View? It would be the final year of JCP, as within six months they would sell to Turner Broadcasting. 71: Episode 71: 5/27/96 Nitro (Scott Hall Debut) May 28, 2018

If you had to trace the "boom" in popularity in professional wrestling in the late 90s back to a single point, it was the May 27, 1996, Monday Nitro when Scott Hall showed up on Nitro and started what would become the hottest angle in history, the nWo. This was the first ever two hour Nitro, plus Steve Doll vs. the Mauler, Bobby Walker vs. Brad Armstrong, a hilarious new moment in the show for the American Males, a Ric Flair promo even Meltzer was embarrassed by, a tremendously awful angle with John Tenta and Ray Traylor, plus Ham Cubes takes on Sting in the main event of a show that would be otherwise horribly forgettable without Scott Hall. Conrad and Tony debate who was or was not a "stooge" plus they make a tremendous announcement about the future of the show, what's changing, and what new content you can expect very, very soon! 70: Episode 70: Slamboree 1993 May 21, 2018

Slamboree '93 was the Legends Reunion and there has never been a show like this before... thankfully! Tony loved it but Conrad maybe not so much. WCW is hitting the panic button based on poor houses and they're doubling down on nostalgia. If you haven't actually watched a show along with us in a while, this is the one! WCW production is at it's all-time worst here. Seriously, it's so bad you have to see it for yourself. Scott Norton refused to lose to Sting so they brought in... the Prisoner. Yes, it's what you think it is. The Legends are in the ring but no one introduces them, Matt Koon is playing guitar instead of wrestling, the cameras miss the pyro, Ventura missed the show, the lights go out during a promo (and don't come back on), Bullet Bob is out with an injury, guys in their 50s are going to time limit draws, Cactus Jack is the best angle in the company so of course he's not on this card, WCW is desperate for a big heel so they take a stab at bringing Sid back, Shane Douglas is hurt and wants out but they don't want us to believe that so they call Tom Zenk "Shane Douglas" -- this is not made up. How? Well put him under a hood like a Mexican tag team but let's not pretend they're Hispanic, let's believe they're Shane Douglas. Confused yet? WCW in 1993 folks. You gotta see this to believe it. Oh and Paul Roma is a Horseman. Yes, this is that show. PAUL ROMA IS A HORSEMAN! Ole Anderson has taken over for the booking committee, Tony Schiavone is back from the WWF, Terry Funk quit, the Road Warriors are leaving for the WWF, Luger gets one more shot at the World Title, but who we really need to get over is... Robocop! Yes, Robocop in WCW is finally the topic for Tony and Conrad to discuss! It's hard to believe that Mark Callous is just six months away from being the Undertaker. Find out who quit the promotion over refusing to lose to his heart punch, oddly enough what two guys were signed at the same time, JYD returns to a controversial angle, who Tony thinks was feeding the dirt to the Torch, what Tony felt the company needed desperately on this show, a hair match with two bald guys, and much more on a fun WHAT HAPPENED WHEN?! 68: Episode 68: Slamboree 1998 May 07, 2018

Tony and Conrad break down WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WCW finally started to trail the WWF in the ratings. Kevin Greene, Dennis Rodman, bringing Flair back, signing the Ultimate Warrior, and even challenging Vince McMahon to a fight?! What wouldn't WCW try to get things back on track. Business is through the roof but more than 30 guys are out with injuries and Bischoff is feeling desperate. We break down the "Vinnie Mac" challenge in silly detail, discuss the sleeper story of 1998 with a front office employee who had crazy power in the middle of these Monday Night Wars potentially jumping ship, Ric Flair in People's 50 Most Beautiful, why Flair wasn't already back, what Kevin Nash wanted to do with him, what everyone in the back was talking about for Goldberg, who was suing WCW over the Ultimo Dragon, the rumor and innuendo around Benoit's losing streak, how you knew Dusty was helping book this show, and one hell of an under card on a very underrated Slamboree 1998! Spring Stampede 1997 was the night Randy Savage "made" Diamond Dallas Page and the night that Booker T gave what is perhaps the most infamous interview in WCW history! Plus a four way match that's really just a tag match, Scott Hall is nowhere to be found, the tag titles are on the line in a singles match, Tony has no idea who "he" is, several WCW wrestlers were in a serious car wreck, Benoit and Malenko squared off, Mysterio and Ultimo had their rubber match, Flair cuts a promo, and of course Mean Gene has some things for us on the hotline that you don't want to miss! 61: Episode 61: Uncensored 96, The Alliance to End Hulkamania Mar 19, 2018

As our beloved show comes to it's supposed eventual end, Conrad and Tony are in rare form again as they cover Uncensored 96; featuring the The Alliance to end Hulkamania vs. Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage, the former MegaPowers in a triple cage of doom or some such nonsense. Widely panned as one of the worst PPV's of all time, let us not forget the importance of the Main Event, which pitted the aforementioned Mega Powers vs. Ric Flair, Double A, Brian Pillman (kinda), Kevin Sullivan, The Barbarian, Meng, Lex Lugar, Ze Gangsta (The Greek god of workrate, Zeus), and Kamala...err The Final Solut...err The Ultimate Solution. There were other matches as well including Eddy Guerrero and someone billed as "The Hulk Hogan of Mexico". But this is What Happened When Monday, so you will hear wedding talk, Graviton talk, and how one might get herpes from a frog splash. All this and more as we stifle our meloncholy feelings about Tony's decision on another hilarious episode of What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson!

Conrad and Tony are back with one of their most outrageous watch alongs yet, as the countdown continues toward the end of our beloved institution. It's 1997 in WCW so things are coming to a peak in the most exciting way, and yet, terrible things are happening everywhere. Watch with the guys as they wax poetic on Prince Iaukea, High Voltage, Jim Powers, Mike jones, a drug dealing empire, a potential phony's bachelor party, and Hard Body Harrison. There are laughs galore, and we will enjoy them while we can, on another pentultimate episode of What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson!

    59: Episode 59: Uncensored 1997 Mar 05, 2018

Because of the upcoming wedding, there are only a few shows left, and in this one, Tony and Conrad talk about Uncensored 1997 in one of our most hilarious shows yet. Mortal Kombat talk (and singing), american males talk (and singing), and much more outrageousness highlight what is yet another water mark as one of the best shows in podcasting history reaches it's conclusion. Then there the event: Prince Iakaua, Glacier, and of course the triangle match between the NWO, team Piper (the Horsemen), and team WCW (down a man because, you know, WCW) as the powerhouse promotion starts it's descent into the abyss. 58: Episode 58: WrestleWar 1991 Feb 26, 2018

A company that held a Pay Per View with several of wrestling's future stars, a deep talent roster and a five star match... Is this a rib? No, it is the bipolar early 90's WCW, as Tony and Conrad cover WrestleWar 1991 featuring what many consider the best Wargames of all time, as well as many peculiar matches involving some of the greatest of all time. Is it Brian Pillman's coming out party, or Scott Steiner's? How did Tony know before almost anyone else that Dusty was coming back? Why did Larry Zbysko replace Double A in the main event? These are some of the questions answered as Tony recalls EVERYTHING from this era of WCW and provides maybe the best insight in the history of our fine show, on the, another fine episode of What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson!

    57: Episode57: Superbrawl 1998 Feb 19, 2018

Coming off of their biggest Pay Per View ever, WCW begins the process of unravelling. But first, an interest worthy PPV in early 1998. Lots going on here including the Scott Steiner turn, dissension in the NWO, Booker T's coming out party makes this a fun watch and an even more fun watch along when you have the man who was there Tony Schiavone along with his cohort in crime, Conrad Thompson. The biggest wrestling star in the world a month previous, Bret Hart, sits home for this one, but that doesn't mean you should on another legendary episode of What Happened When Mondays... plus stay tunes for a fun musical tribute to two of our favorite WHW characters, School Board and Ham Cube.

    56: Episode 56: Superbrawl III Feb 12, 2018

Join Tony as he revisits an interesting time in WCW history on another fun watch along with Conrad. "We want Flair", Cactus vs. Orndorff in a falls count anywhere, Muta, Wyndham, and of course let us not forget the infamous White Castle of Fear match featuring Sting and Vader while both were arguably at the top of their game. 55: Episode 55: Clash of Champions X Feb 05, 2018

"You're out! You're no longer a horseman!" were the words spoken on the outset of this show in a perfectly executed angle that could only be ruined by a cataclysmic injury happening on the same show 2 hours later....and it did. Clash of Champions had it all, from Mick Foley's least favorite match against Mil Mascaras, to a young Undertaker as Mark Callous running the ropes like a thoroughbred and showing flashes of what was to become the Phenom. In addition the "mystery" of Doom may finally be solved against one of the greatest tag teams of all time: School Board and Ham Cubes. See everything great and terrible about WCW all in the same show as Tony and Conrad watch along and give you the companion piece you never wanted, but always needed on another hilarious and insightful episode of What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson! "We tried to warn you!"

    54: Episode 54: The 1988 Bunkhouse Stampede Jan 29, 2018

Crockett era fans (and even those later WCW fans who want to learn more of their wrestling history) can rejoice as Tony and Conrad dive into one of the most crucial events in wrestling history, the 1988 Bunkhouse Stampede. You have Flair vs. Hawk, Eaton vs. Koloff, and the finals of the main event: A come as you are battle royal-esque cage match where anything goes. But the real story was behind the scenes as Crockett and WWF were maneuvering and strategizing against each other, and this event was in many ways the most crucial battleground, with one decisive winner. You know it won't be all serious, because this is Conrad and Tony, who can make any subject fun as you will see yet again, on What Happened When?....... Mondays!

53: Episode 53: Tony Answers YOUR Questions! Jan 22, 2018

Back by popular demand is Tony Schiavone answering YOUR questions! Conrad has a record of picking legendary questions that will give us some unforgettable answers as Tony fields questions like: What match does he wish he called, what current wrestlers would compose a Schiavone designed 4 horsemen, and of course he finally settles the bet on who would win in a shoot fight, Bob Caudle or Gordon Solie? Nothing is off limits, a Tony rant or two is to be had, and the "I don't know's" have minimum toleration on like, this special "Q and A" like, episode of like, What Happened When with Tony Schiavone!

    52: Episode 52: Souled out 1998 Jan 15, 2018

Souled out 1998 may be one of the best shows in the post Starrcade 97 era of WCW, and there is a lot to like about this show, so it's no wonder why. Flair vs. Hart, Giant vs. Nash Debacle, 8 man luchadore extravaganza, Rey vs. Jericho, and so much more. But this is What Happened when Mondays with Tony and Conrad so there might be a Lois run in, there could be a GOAT call in, and there definitely is unrelated rant or two relating to what is now a "collector's Edition" of a former WHW Mondays shirt. This will be an episode that will be talked about, and certainly one that should not be mossed. See for yourself as we start off the new year with bang on What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson!

Not only that, but be entertained as Tony and Conrad put this abysmal and catastrophic experiment through their hilarious judgement machine with the benefit of hindsight and hilarity! Definitly an episode not to be missed....this week on What Happened When Mondays with Tony Schiavone!

    49: Episode 49: Starrcade 1997 Dec 28, 2017

Join Tony Schiavone as he re-visits the 20 Year Anniversary of the biggest show in the history of our great sport, Starrcade 1997! After a 17 month build, the nWo storyline had all built to this. It would be biggest financial success in WCW history but did it deliver creatively? The entire event would be shrouded in controversy: WCW had to go to great lengths to get Malenko in the ring, Raven was advertised but not ready, Flair was out with an injury for his rubber match with Hennig, Bischoff is wrestling his first match ever, Konnan no-shows a match on a day's notice, Randy Savage isn't booked but finds himself with a ton of leverage, Rey Mysterio and Booker T are spectators in the crowd, the guy who started this "invasion" angle isn't booked on this show but fills in when Kevin Nash no-shows for indigestion, Bret Hart makes his WCW PPV debut... as a referee, Bischoff can't pull off the original twist for the main event, Hogan doesn't think Sting is tan enough, Bischoff doesn't think Sting is in shape, and Nick Patrick "botches" the finish of the most anticipated main event in history... or does he? There's so much going on for WCW and many would say this show was the beginning of the end, but WCW would go on to set new records just eight days later and all through the Summer. So decide for yourself as we dig deep into Starrcade 1997, was it the best of times? Or the worst of times?
