The Summer of Night Vale Presents, Part 4 Jul 27, 2018

Show notes

Welcome to the fourth and final week of the Summer of Night Vale Presents, a celebration and sampling of some of the shows across our network. This week, hear previews of two upcoming Night Vale Presents shows, and full episodes from The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air) and Good Morning Night Vale.

To get updates on our new shows, Adventures in New America and Dreamboy, sign up for the Night Vale Presents newsletter, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air) is a surreal and funny audio drama about a lonely janitor at the Eiffel Tower who longs to be part of the most popular radio show in the world. Recently, we re-issued the first season in partnership with WNYC. This special edition has brand new behind-the-scenes commentary in every episode and a director’s cut of the season finale, and is the perfect excuse to either re-listen or dive in for the very first time.

Good Morning Night Vale is the official Welcome to Night Vale recap show, hosted by cast members Meg Bashwiner, Symphony Sanders, and Hal Lublin. Each week, our hosts do a deep dive into one episode of Welcome to Night Vale, starting with the very first episode from 2012. Tune in for behind-the-scenes stories, interviews with the cast and creators, fan theories, and THROAT SPIDERS.

The Summer of Night Vale Presents, Part 3 Jul 20, 2018

Show notes

This is the Summer of Night Vale Presents, a celebration and sampling of some of the shows across our network. This week, we’re listening to special episodes of Alice Isn’t Dead and Sleep With Me.
Alice Isn’t Dead is about a truck driver, played by Jasika Nicole, who searches across America for the wife she had long assumed was dead. In the course of her search, she encounters not-quite-human serial murderers, towns literally lost in time, and a conspiracy that goes way beyond one missing woman. We’re in the middle of the third and final season right now, and it would only take a few hours for you to catch up the finale later this summer.
Sleep With Me is the podcast that puts you to sleep. Every episode of this unique and inventive storytelling podcast is designed to help you fall asleep. The next time you’re tossing and turning at night, turn on one of the hundreds of episodes in the Sleep With Me archive and let Scooter tell you a bedtime story.

The Summer of Night Vale Presents, Part 2 Jul 13, 2018

Show notes

This is the Summer of Night Vale Presents, a celebration and sampling of some of the shows across our network. This week, we hear from two of our newest fiction shows, Pounded In The Butt By My Own Podcast and It Makes A Sound. Plus, an update on Within the Wires Season 3.

Within the Wires returns on September 4. Each season tells a new story in the same world, using a single set of found audio. Season One is a prison break / romance told entirely through relaxation tapes. Season Two is the mystery of a missing woman told through a decade’s worth of museum audio guides. Season Three, coming this September, is a political thriller told through dictaphone recordings to a secretary.

Pounded In The Butt By My Own Podcast is our collaboration with celebrated author Chuck Tingle. Chuck’s short stories have entertained and aroused readers across the world, and we are excited to bring his stories to life with performances by celebrity guests like Cecil Baldwin, Mara Wilson, and Becca Blackwell. Whether you’re new to the Tingleverse or have lived there for years, this is the podcast about love that you never knew you needed.
It Makes A Sound is the story of a woman named Deirdre who finds a cassette tape from 1992 in her attic. What follows is a surprising story about family, memory, and music that goes places that you don’t expect. Join her quest to make Rosemary Hills come back to life with the sound of music.

The Summer of Night Vale Presents, Part 1 Jul 06, 2018

Show notes

Welcome to the Summer of Night Vale Presents, a celebration and sampling of some of the shows across our network. This week: a look at two of our non-fiction shows, I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats and Conversations with People Who Hate Me.

I Only Listen to the Mountain Goats is a show about what it means to be an artist, to be a fan, and as many people are, both at once. Our first season found Welcome to Night Vale creator Joseph Fink in conversation with John Darnielle, singer and songwriter of the Mountain Goats, about their album All Hail West Texas. You’ll hear an excerpt from episode 9, “The Mess Inside,” which shows how these conversations wander through topics in unexpected ways.
Conversations with People Who Hate Me is a show where Dylan Marron, whom you may know as Carlos the Scientist on Welcome to Night Vale, takes contentious online conversations and moves them offline. This year, Dylan has been moderating conversations between people who have exchanged their own online negativity. You’ll hear the entirety of episode 12, “Burned at the Stake,” featuring a woman who wrote about why the TV show The Office doesn’t hold up to today’s standards and a man who told her she should be burned at the stake.
