    We Teach Inspired!!

Teaching is one of the most difficult professions on the planet. It is something that you feel down to your bones. It takes energy and devotion to find success in the classroom. Most importantly it takes inspiration– for someone or something to breathe life into us. We Teach Inspired is a podcast that will breathe life into teachers by interviewing stakeholders within this profession to glean the wisdom that has been passed down through the years. We hope this podcast can be a light for educators no matter where they are to guide them on a path that keeps them in the classroom!

    #22: Detaching From Results Oct 04, 2017
    Show notes

In this episode we discuss the need for teachers to detach their teaching practice from student results. Not to say that we are unconcerned with the success of our students, but to say that we can't tie our self worth to their outcomes. Ultimately they are responsible for their own success and we must accept that fact. We're striving for consistency as teachers within our educational practice and continuing to develop our craft each day. Thanks for checking out episode #22

    #19: Biographies and Autobiographies Aug 16, 2017
    Show notes

On this episode we talk about the stories we tell ourselves as teachers versus the stories our students and colleagues tell about us. Examining the stories we tell ourselves and the stories others tell about us gives a metric of our authenticity. If we don't take the time to be intentional about our stories then we will be subject to the stories others tell about us. We believe this is a powerful practice for both teachers and students. We hope this is a strategy you can use to start 2017-18 off right!

    #15: True North Jul 03, 2017
    Show notes

In this episode we talk about what TRUE NORTH means to and for teachers. We love the metaphor of true north because true north on a compass is how you orient yourself to your surroundings. As people true north is the values and actions we return to time and again, but as a teacher we represent true north to our students. We provide the stability that allows our students to orient themselves to our classrooms and schools. We hope you enjoy episode #15 and please reach out to us at theledproject.com!!

#14: TEACHING ON PURPOSE With Ben Scoggan Jun 30, 2017
    Show notes

TEACHING ON PURPOSE On this episode we discuss what it looks like to teach on purpose and with intentionality. If teachers don't create an intentional environment that students can adapt to then they will be forced to adapt to the environment the students create. We believe that every student wants to belong to the culture of their classrooms, but will only do so if the teacher is authentic. We finish up the episode with Wilkie's garden analogy and a great acronym for soil. Check it out and let us know what you think!!

They discuss some of the traps teachers fall into when building relationships with their students like knowing the difference between being friendly and being friend to kids. As well as how teachers should strive to earn the loyalty of students versus expecting their obedience. It's the difference between influencing students and lording authority over them.
