    We Teach Inspired!!

Teaching is one of the most difficult professions on the planet. It is something that you feel down to your bones. It takes energy and devotion to find success in the classroom. Most importantly it takes inspiration– for someone or something to breathe life into us. We Teach Inspired is a podcast that will breathe life into teachers by interviewing stakeholders within this profession to glean the wisdom that has been passed down through the years. We hope this podcast can be a light for educators no matter where they are to guide them on a path that keeps them in the classroom!

#27: Leverage Student Relationships to Create Student Leaders Jun 30, 2019
    Show notes

Thanks for checking out this episode of the Value Adds Value Podcast! We loved being in the same room when record podcasts and in this episode we talk about how our relationships with students impact the leaders they will become. If you listen to this podcast you know that we believe there is nothing more important for a teacher to succeed than their ability to build, maintain and leverage their relationships. Building relationships is the easy part, maintain them is more difficult, but being able to leverage them is the most difficult challenge for teachers. When you have built and maintained relationships with kids you still are using some degree of authority to get them to do things, but when you have built relationships that are deep enough to leverage you then are able to move kids through influence rather than authority. If you want to hear more about what we mean take a listen to this episode, and if you love it please hit the subscribe button!! Also if you are interested our exclusive offer with Nearpod that gets you a three month gold membership and a $25 content credit go to nearpod.com/valueaddsvalue! If you are interested in getting professional development on your own terms we encourage you to see what we have to offer at patreon.com/valueaddsvalue. Not only can you get professional development credit through the state of Texas, but you can support the work we do!

    #26: I Get to do PD!! Jun 27, 2019
    Show notes

Sorry for the delay in this week's podcast, but we promise you it is worth it! We were so excited to get to record this episode together in person on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Sea aboard the Teach Your Heart Out Cruise! We even had special impromptu guest appearances from Casey Bethel and Vanessa Cronin. We chatted with them about how we can change our attitudes from "I have to do these PDs" to "I get to do these PDs!" We discuss what it means to develop yourself as a teacher on your own terms and how to always stay focused on the mission. The right attitude about PD can change the trajectory of your craft! We hope you enjoy this and thank you to Casey and Vanessa for stopping by. If you want to learn more about Teach Your Heart Out which has upcoming events in San Antonio, San Diego and Toronto you can find them at teachyourheartoutcon.com! We also have a special offer from Nearpod for being a listener of the podcast! Go to nearpod.com/valueaddsvalue to get a FREE three month Gold Membership and a $25 content credit when you sign up. If you're not familiar with Nearpod they are an online education platform that is connecting students and teachers to powerful lessons and providing them a platform to create new lessons and collaborate. Be sure to check them out!

    #25: Summer Time Perspective Jun 15, 2019
    Show notes

Hey everybody! After a couple week delay the podcast is back. We had to take some time to refocus our energies and set our goals for the second half of 2019. In this episode we talk about the end of the school year and how we are approaching our development for the summer. More importantly we discuss how to deal with situations in which people say, "You sure toot your own horn" or something to that affect. We talked about it because it happened to Wilkie this past week. We started Lighthouse Educator Development with the belief that there has never been a more important time for teachers to stand tall and shine bright. With that comes push back from those who don't share that belief, so we want you to be prepared for it! We hope you enjoy this episode! EXCITING NEWS! We've partnered with Nearpod to give you a 3 month Gold Membership and a $25 content credit for free! Just go to nearpod.com/valueaddsvalue to sign up!

    #20: Rejection Letters (Emails) May 16, 2019
    Show notes

I got a rejection email on earlier this week from a school that I thought I had done amazing in the interview with. What struck me as odd was that this rejection email was the same as the ones I got through the mail a decade ago when I first started looking for jobs. I posted it on Instagram with a few thoughts on how it doesn't define me as a teacher and person, so on this episode I talk about the response I got from the teaching community! Especially a lengthy conversation I had with Heather Planchon (@theprimaryparty)... Thanks for listening!

    #19: A Conversation With Gerry Brooks! May 12, 2019
    Show notes

We have been very fortunate to meet and build relationships with some of the most incredible teachers over the last few years and this episode's guest is no except! You may know him from his numerous viral videos or his catch phrase SURIOUSLY, but we are lucky to know Gerry Brooks as a principal that wants the best for his students and their teachers. During our conversation Gerry talks about how he uses humor to help share the important messages that teachers need to hear, what his day to day is like versus what people see on social media, and some of the key nuggets we've learned from him this year. We hope you enjoy it and if you do make sure to go buy his new book GO SEE THE PRINCIPAL! You can find Gerry everyone on social media as GerryBrooksPrin and on his website gerrybrooksrpin.com!
