    Iowa State Preview | WUW 349 Sep 08, 2022
    Show notes

Its Cy-Hawk week. The in-state rivalry is renewed once more and Iowa State could be going into this game as confident as they have since their last win in 2014. The Hawks look to find their footing on Offense while the D and Special Teams will continue to carry the squad. We discuss what we would do if we were in charge of the team, where our focus would lie, and what is most important heading into Saturday. We also speculate on why the O line is in such a dire spot, and if coaching could have something to do with that. We drop a brand new 'Walkon Top 5' and Ward's Winners returns!

South Dakota State Recap | WUW 348 Sep 05, 2022
    Show notes

The Hawks kicked off their season inside Kinnick this past weekend with a very lackluster 7-3 victory over the jackrabbits. Sadly, an entire off season of waiting and hoping that the Hawkeye offense would be better looks to be a lost cause. Issues are still there, and potentially worse, spanning almost every offensive position group, and the problems are being exacerbated by a not fully healthy roster. Spencer Petras, one of the hot topic items for the last 3 years, appears to be much of the same, isn't getting help, and is leaving fans wanting basically anything else. We do get to discuss some good things like the almost perfect Iowa Defense, one of the best Punters in the nation, and more. Come along for our full game breakdown.

    Brandon Snyder + SDSU Preview | WUW 347 Sep 01, 2022
    Show notes

Brandon is from Larchwood, Iowa and played high school football for the West Lyon Wildcats. After walking on for the University of Iowa, Brandon quickly ascended special teams depth charts and became a vital component of the special teams in our 2015 undefeated regular season. He would eventually be named starting Safety in 2016 and start all 13 games that season, collecting 85 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. After tearing his ACL in the Spring of 2017, he made an almost magical return to the field in under 6 months, in a game that many will remember his Pick-6 against Illinois. Unfortunately the knee was already reinjured at that point in the game, something that we dive into during our conversation, and his season would end. He transferred to SDSU for his final season of eligibility and finished his career with the Jackrabbits. We talk the upcoming matchup, the styles that each team play, and memories from his playing days.

    The Seat Isn't Frosty | WUW 346 Aug 29, 2022
    Show notes

Week Zero, whatever that means, has come and gone and that means college football teams across the country have started their quest for glory in 2022. 2 of those teams, Nebraska and Northwestern, have been waiting all off season to rectify poor campaigns from the 2021 seasons. They would do so in Ireland, thousands of miles away from Lincoln, Evanston, and the rest of B1G country to kick off the 2022 Big Ten slate. And while both teams seemed to have improved on a couple areas of the game, it appears Nebraska will be chasing some more of the same this year. We discuss the loss, What we thought of both outfits, some of the personnel on each side, the topic of Head coach for the Huskers, beer snakes, and a whole lot more.

Nile's Girlfriend, Puking Huskers, HS Football In Kinnick | WUW 344 Aug 22, 2022
    Show notes

The boys are all back for a non guest episode for the first time in a long while. We discuss Drake 'running out' of internet, his phone not working, Usman getting kicked in the head, and the reason that 344 wasn't a Gary Dolphin interview like originally planned. Nebraska linemen are throwing up at alarming rates and while the quote that came directly from Scott Frost's mouth may have been hyperbolic, we discuss the implications of exerting yourself that hard, if football training and practices should ever induce vomiting, and we speculate on the state of the Husker program with this news coming 10 days out from their first game with NW in week 0. We also share a story from a listener who reached out who happens to be the nephew of a woman who was in a very serious relationship with Nile Kinnick. We talk a little bit about Charlie Jones and Tyrone Tracy over at Purdue, and finish with highlighting a Highschool football game happening in Kinnick stadium this Friday.

    Kinnick: The Documentary w/Scott Siepker | WUW 343 Aug 18, 2022
    Show notes

Scott is an Actor, Writer, Producer, and he's doing it all in the state of Iowa. His first big break, and what many today would recognize him for, was the viral 'Iowa Nice' video that he debuted a decade ago in 2012. That video was made to highlight the our state and some of the great things and people that Iowa has produced. Similarly with this new project, Scott sought out to deep dive, like never before, one of Iowa's true historical hero's, Iowa Football Player, and Heisman Winner, Nile Kinnick. Scott walks us through the motivation behind this upcoming Documentary, how his team went about gathering all the necessary, and in many instances newly found, information about Nile and his life, and helps us understand how truly great of a human Nile was.
