The Answer To Why Iowa's Giving Up Big Plays | WUW 539 Sep 16, 2024

Show notes

We sit down to break down the game from Saturday as the Hawks come back from a halftime deficit to beat Troy 38-21. A game that many walked away from with a weird inconclusive feeling. We discuss why this win doesn't 'feel good' even though the stat sheets say differently. We talk about the blunders on the Defensive side of the ball, where we've seen big plays hurt the Hawks in back to back weeks, and a huge mishap on special teams which is usually the area that Iowa dominates in. We break down the Offense and how Kaleb Johnson is currently a Heisman contender, and how Cade actually played well despite a general feeling of lackluster-ness from his position. We talk passing game and how it needs to evolve moving forward, seeing Brendan Sullivan for the first time, and where things need to be heading in to Floyd week.

Listen Closely, KF Presents Subtle Answers | KF Press Review Week 3 Sep 11, 2024

Show notes

In the Tuesday presser KF answered questions from the media about the loss from the weekend, he talked about dealing with setbacks and how to move forward from those, and the danger of dwelling on the past. The theme of the press conference was likening this past weekend to 2002 so we discuss how time, decades, provides a pretty good perspective on how great that season was and how much potential this season still has. We discuss how the RB room may only be a 3 man stable right now with JP outside looking in, and of course how scoring in the redzone was such a vital issue in week 1 and will be a focus moving forward. We also talk best timing to try out Brendan Sullivan and why KF may be more open to a QB switch right now than people think.. all of this and more!

What sparked the big plays for both teams? Should Iowa be concerned with their punt game? How do we get 6 points from being 1st and goal at the 3 twice? And what is the implication on the season moving forward.. all of that and more.
