"Every Position, Every Year, You Have To Look In The Portal" | Coordinator Press Review Nov 13, 2024

Show notes

A coordinator themed press review show as we once again got to hear from Tim Lester, Levar Woods, and Phil Parker. It's BYE week for the Hawks, one they need, and the coaches provided some interesting answers to questions on Tuesday. Does Coach Parker and staff even know why this Defense that returned 8 starters hasn't performed up to potential this year? Is there a Cooper Dejean shaped presence that this years team doesn't have allowing opposing teams to have more confidence and take more chances? Where has Dakin settled in nationally and is there actually any concerns with the Special Teams at this point? Who is actually going to be our QB against Maryland, and beyond. Why should we be so excited about what Tim Lester brings to this off season, and a whole lot more.

BYE Week Needed More Than Ever | WUW 554 Nov 11, 2024

Show notes

The Hawks fell to UCLA on Friday night in a game that they 'should have won'. We discuss why its hard to win football games, regardless of the opponent, with fresh examples from all around the country this weekend. We discuss the acute depth issue at QB and how impressive Stratton was given the lack of prep time, and we talk Sullivan's performance before leaving the game and how he could have been smarter in this specific situation. We mull over another confusing game for the Defense, a D that just isn't top quality like Iowa City has seen the past few years, and how losing Jay Higgins impacted the game. We break down why a bye week came at the right time, and what the mindset will be facing these last 2 games of the year.

Does George Barnett Deserve More Credit!? | KF Press Review Nov 06, 2024

Show notes

David joins us once again to discuss the press conference post game from Wisconsin as well as Tuesday's presser. One that David said saw 'the most relaxed and confident Kirk of the season'. We discuss Kaleb Johnson's continued success and if he is getting the national attention that he deserves, and one of the biggest factors to his success, the Offensive Line. Does Barnett need more credit for where this Line has gotten to, with a dominating performance against the badgers and great run game all year long. We take a deeper look at the O-line situation over the past 3 years. We discuss Ladell Betts and his time as RB coach in Iowa City, we talk TE depth and production, and of course we discuss QB and how Brendan Sullivan will perform moving forward with Cade as the clear? backup at this point.

The Reasons Iowa "Manhandled" Wisconsin | WUW 552 Nov 04, 2024

Show notes

Iowa v Wisco talk starts 31 mins into the show

Before that we talk games and teams around the B1G and try to decipher how which coaches are going to find their seat hot, and we answer how long a coach deserves before a University cuts them loose. We recap our bets of the weekend as all 3 hosts scored a positive win rate once again, and then we talk Hawks. Why you should never come to Kinnick as an opposing team at night, why Iowa was able to dominate the line of scrimmage and gain over 300 yards of rushing attack, why Brendan Sullivan HAS to be the guy for the remainder of this year, and why KJ is probably better than Jeanty and just doesn't get the same love. All of this and more.

Cade Concussion, Sullivan Swagger | KF Press Review Oct 30, 2024

Show notes

On today's show we have an in depth conversation based mostly in the IAFB press time on Tuesday. We start the episode with some basketball season talk as the season kicks off tonight with an exhibition. That turns into a conversation about how mid majors are similar to the MAC in football, and the state of the transfer portal and NIL. That filters into a conversation about coming after players because they are paid now, and we finally wrap around to the main topics of the press conference. Of biggest note, Cade is not available at all this weekend, along with a few other injury bits. James Resar has great potential, just not at Quarterback, Sullivan continues to impress coaches and teammates, and KJ could be lined up for another big day against the Badgers.
