Welcome to the done-in-one Eightieth Episode of Wait, What? We don't mean to come off as wishy-washy, but we felt there were a lot of good points as to why we should stick to oners when it comes to the podcast, so, at least for a while, that's what we're going to stick to, but feel free to leave comments at SavageCritic.com or at waitwhatpodcast@gmail.com, But so, yes. A two hour and twenty-plus minute done in one, with Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester spending the first forty minutes or so kicking the can about the reception to the John Carter movie, the lack of interesting Wondercon news, shelling pistachios, costume design, and conspiracy theories about bad movies. Then, realizing we are not going to be breaking the episode in twain, we really get underway with discussions about The Wasteland Omnibus, reading The Flash and writing for the trades, Justice League #7 and the Shazam! back-up, Secret Avengers: The Children's Crusade, Avengers X-Sanction #4, Wolverine #303, Dominique LeVeau Voodoo Queen, Wonder Woman #7, Astonishing X-Men and Wolverine and The X-Men, and a heckuva lot more. We hope you enjoy and, as always, thank for listening!

    Wait, What? Episode 79.2 Mar 21, 2012

It's the second and final part of Episode 79! This time around, Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester review some comics for a change, including the latest issues of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Faith, Frankenstein, Agent of Shade and Batwoman, and the first issues of Saucer Country, Scalped , Crossed Badlands, Saga, Avengers Assemble, and of course Todd McFarlane's Spider-Man. At a little over an hour, it's the bite-sized podcast that fits in your pocket! We welcome your preferences as to one longer episode or two shorter episodes either in the comments thread at savagecritic.com or via email at waitwhatpodcast@gmail.com. As always, we hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

This is the first of two installments for Episode 79. Yes, in an attempt to see what listeners prefer, we are bringing back the two hour long installments in a week approach. This time around, Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester talk about Assbutts and iPhones, Alan Moore's latest interview, Rich Johnston and the need for a comics scapegoat. Plus, Graeme and I wonder if and when our discussions of comics and creators have gone too far. If you have a comment on that situation, we'd welcome it at either the comments thread for this episode at SavageCritic.com, or via email at waitwhatpodcast@gmail.com. As always, we hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

    Wait, What? Episode 78 Mar 12, 2012
    Show notes

In Episode 78, Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester have any number of topics so hot they can only be handled with your ears--topics like what Savage Critic rating we would give The Bible, spinoff books that can never seem to escape their progenitors, a squalid confession of drug use and Dr. Who abuse from Jeff, Action Comics, The Legion of Superheroes, Birds of Prey, Fairest, the first issues of Saucer Country, Hell Yeah, Manhattan Projects (with spoilers for the first issue), Superbia, Fatale #3, Fantastic Four: Season One, the amazing King City TPB from Brandon Graham, Detective Comics, G.I. Joe: Cobra, Wolverine #302, DC Nation on Cartoon Network, and much, much more. (And for those of you who might be concerned, Jeff re-watched the Dr. Who season finale and officially found it keen, although he still prefers the Vincent Van Gough episode.) As always, we hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

This is Episode 77, and it's an opportunity for Graeme and Jeff to catch our breaths from all of Episode 76's question and answering with some very low-key chat. We discuss Graeme's library picks, Spider-Island, the high initial orders for Avengers Vs. X-Men, our ignorance of current MTV reality shows, He Who Can Not Be Named (by which we mean "Stephen Wacker"), the pros and cons of going to the comic shop, The Hunger Games, Earth 2, Dr. Who, Tintin, and that one movie with Christian Bale and the gun-fu, as well as the One Piece Meets Toriko (which I brain-deadedly call "Tobiko" throughout) one-shot available from Shonen Jump Alpha. As always, we hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester are coming at you with both barrels blazing--and by "both" we mean "more than two" and by "barrels," we mean "hours of answering your questions from a few weeks back." Yes, it only takes us two hours and forty minutes to answer (almost) everyone's questions--we actually talk so long Graeme turns into cosmic buzzing seafoam at the very end--but answer them we do, scheduling and artistic teams on DC, new 52 titles and teams we would like to see, The New 52: Threat of Menace?, Marvel movies and costumes in superhero movies, alternative sexual relationships in comics, 2000 AD and Shonen Jump Alpha, our favorite books of the 80s, a moment in Defenders #3 Jeff totally blew past, J.M. DeMatteis' The Defenders, The Shadow, The Red Circle, Milestone and other comics lines, X-Men franchises vs. Teen Titans, speculation over the changes in the Marvel dancecard, real world landmarks in imaginary world, our favorite Superman, Dr. Who, John Byrne's Fantastic Four, Rick Jones, Downton Abbey comics, the Shooterverse, and, as you're probably used to by now, much, much more. As always, we hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!

    Wait, What? Episode 75.1 Feb 20, 2012
    Show notes

After a short hiatus, Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester are back with Ep. 75, two hours and twenty-plus minutes of comics controversy inspired chatter. In our first half, we look at battles between creators over their properties with examples like: Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and The Walking Dead; Gary Friedrich and Ghost Rider; L.J. Smith and The Vampire Diaries; John Rozum, Scott McDaniel, and Static Shock; and, believe it or not, James Doohan and William Shatner and Star Trek. We also cover Brian Bendis's ideas for the New 52; sales expectations for the Marvel and DC; Marvel's possible reboot and their strategies for Avengers Vs. X-Men; the myth of the Marvel Architects and books with buzz; the latest Superman villain; Joss Whedon and Buffy The Vampire Slayer; what we miss about the post-Crisis DCU; and a vow to catch up with all outstanding listener questions...next time. As ever, we thank you so much for listening, and hope you enjoy!

    Wait, What? Episode 74.1 Feb 06, 2012
    Show notes

Episode 74 was supposed to be the two hour wrap-up to Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester answering your questions...but then a little project called Before Watchmen got announced and we sidetracked. For first eighty minutes, we talk Watchmen, Before Watchmen, Multiversity, Darwin Cooke, Amanda Conner, Len Wein, John Higgins, Dave Gibbons and the mighty sleeveless one himself, Alan Moore. It's the conversation you've been having in your head for weeks now in convenient podcast format. Then, for the next forty minutes, we also answer readers' questions. All five of them. But in doing so, we end up discussing Batman: Leviathan, Mike Barron and Steve Rude's Nexus, Jack Kirby's Machine Man, books we regret recommending, The Drops of God, Earth X, Fantastic Four, Micronauts, Chris Claremont's last storyline on Uncanny X-Men,the Image anniversary, and more. We look forward to continuing to finishing the current round of questions well into the mid-21st Century, and thank you for listening!

    Wait, What? Episode 73.1 Jan 30, 2012
    Show notes

Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester are answering your questions in Episode 73--or at least as many of your questions as we can get to in two and a half hours. We thought that would be a lot, but we were very, very wrong. Still, we do talk about Marvel at South by Southwest; Graphicly's new epublishing initiative; prose books we've read and music we're listening to; our favorite inkers; Brian K. Vaughn's upcoming book, Saga; the best Jack Kirby book to start with; the original Howard The Duck; how many waffles we can eat in one sitting; who might be taking over Avengers; superhero movies; a dramatic reading from Justice League #5; and, really, much, much more. We apologize if we did not answer your question but hope to get to it in episode 74. We hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!
