Wrestling Omakase #127: 2019 Year End Awards Jan 13, 2020

Show notes

This week it's time for Wrestling Omakase's third annual awards episode! The Omakase awards are open to each and every guest who appeared on the show during the calendar year, and for 2019 we received votes from 37 different people across the wrestling spectrum. Here to share their picks with John are six returning guests: Kelly Harrass, Thomas Fischbeck, TJ, Mongo, Jeff and Suit Williams! We all go through our picks and then give the overall winners in the following categories (in their order of discussion on the show): Worst Weekly TV Show, Worst Major Show, Worst Promotion, Worst Feud, Worst Match of the Year, Best Weekly TV Show, Best Major Show, Best Promotion, Best Feud, Most Outstanding Wrestler, Best Tag Team, Match of the Year and finally Wrestler of the Year. As an aside, we made a concerted effort to get through the Worst categories very quickly this year, so the vast majority of the episode runtime is dedicated toward discussing our favorites of 2019. And don't forget to check out the full list of Top 10s in every award going up on Voices of Wrestling a day or two after this episode.

STR 385. La Villa Strangiato Jan 11, 2020

We talk a little Neil Peart, the strange characterization of Drew McIntyre and lazy storytelling of this week's NXT and the dreadful AEW. Plus a bit of Brock and a preview of NXT UK Takeover Colon Blackpool II

Wednesday War Games #14: AEW (Absolute Garbage) vs. NXT (It Was Okay I Guess) Jan 10, 2020

Show notes

Liam and Garrett discuss (and despair about) how all wrestling is terrible and seemingly every US wrestling television show can't escape the gravitational force of the pro wrestling universe that is every show eventually just becoming Monday Night Raw in the end.

Everything Elite 54: AEW Dynamite: Southaven, MS, ELITE or DELETE, BTE and More w/ Kara! Jan 10, 2020

Show notes

Welcome to Episode 54 of Everything Elite! This week, Mike is joined by Kara (https://twitter.com/KaraOnza) to talk all about All Elite Wrestling and the Elite Extended Universe! With Aaron and Nate either in Japan or traveling, they decide to go off the format a bit and talk about Kara’s EE AEW Awards ballot, a big game of ELITE or DELETE (name might be changed due to Aaron choosing WWE/TNA IP there), discuss a big fever dream and rough episode of AEW Dynamite that included two back-to-back distraction finishes, a long closing angle and a lot of weird stuff that didn’t work. But Kara and Mike balance it by talking about stuff they did like such as Drunken Depressed Millennial Hangman Page, Very Good and Smart Head Coach Arn Anderson, and Jungleboy 2020. Then to close it out, Kara brings back the BTE report as they talk about a fun episode of that and much more!

Wrestling Omakase #126: NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 w/ Chris, Tyler, Paul & Gerard Jan 05, 2020

Show notes

Wrestling Omakase kicks off 2020 with full coverage of both nights of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14! To celebrate this historic two-night event we went live on Youtube with instant reaction streams right after both nights went off the air, so this week's episode is a combination of both those streams. For the first night John is joined by VOW contributors Chris Samsa (@TheChrisSamsa), Tyler Forness (@CCSTheRealForno) and Paul Volsch (@Darth_Dragon) and for the second night John is joined by Chris and Tyler again as well as Gerard Di Trolio (@GerardDiTrolio). Hear their thoughts immediately after each night went off the air, as well as some interactions with fans listening live and more. What were their favorite matches of a stacked weekend? How did John react to finally seeing Tetsuya Naito's big moment after all these years? And much more! Relive the journey of the two nights as we react in real time to each one!

Please note that since this was recorded in an unusual way compared to every other Omakase episode that the audio is a little different; John did their best to fix it in post-production but they still sound a little lower than everyone else and the two parts sound a little different as well. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and think you'll still find this to be a really fun episode. We'll be back to our normal recording method next week.
